Survivor turns 25 tonight. Let that sink in for a second. This is the 25th season of Survivor, doesn’t seem possible. Not nearly the ratings giant it once was, Survivor chugs on none the less and it looks like it will take a controlled landing to get this bird out of the sky.
As the seasons become increasingly gimmicky, Survivor: Philippines features an odd arrangement of newbies, famous super-fans, and contestants that nearly died on previous seasons. Survivor: Philippines premieres at 8PM EST on CBS and is followed by a live episode of Big Brother. Don’t forget to sound off in our Survivor forum!
Eighteen castaways will compete on SURVIVOR: PHILIPPINES when the Emmy Award-winning series returns on Wednesdays. Three of the 18 castaways are former players who were medically evacuated from the game and are returning to finish what they started. Fifteen castaways are new to the competition.
Surrounded by water, SURVIVOR: PHILIPPINES will prominently feature marine-based challenges. For the first time in eight years, castaways will be divided into three tribes named after animals in the region: Kalabaw (“Water Buffalo”), Tandang (“Rooster”) and Matsing (“Monkey”). The tribes feature individuals from different backgrounds competing for the same ultimate goal: to be Sole Survivor.
Begins its 25th installment on the CBS Television Network on Sept. 19, 2012.
