Face Off Picked Up for a Second Season by Syfy

Ahead of its first season finale tonight, Syfy has renewed Face Off (according to Deadline), a series that pits special effects make-up artists against one another in challenges ranging from designing an original tattoo to using make-up to disguise themselves in front of loved ones. The second season will likely premiere January 2012.

The entire first season is airing today on Syfy in preparation for the finale at 10:00, which has been a bit of a godsend for me. I was a little unsure in terms of watching the show or not and I decided to wait until I heard some good word of mouth or until around the finale to indulge in it all at once. If you’ve not gotten a chance to check out the show, it’s certainly worth a watch, if only to marvel at the creations from this group of talented individuals. Reality TV is often accused of being for the talentless, the lazy, and the vapid, but obviously the people making the accusations haven’t watched Face Off. I can only imagine how good season two will be.
