TV Guide is reporting that Syfy has picked up Merlin for a fourth season, set to air sometime in 2012. The fourth season will be seeing at least three new characters, as Nathaniel Parker (Stardust), Gemma Jones (Bridget Jones's Diary), and Phil Davis (Alien 3) will be joining the cast. Parker will be playing Arthur's nephew Agravain, while Jones is portraying mythological deity Cailleach, and Davis is guest starring as a currently unnamed sinister circus master.
Merlin is currently the only Arthurian-based show left on the air, as Starz recently cancelled freshman drama Camelot, and was only the third television adaptation of the popular legends. (The other two were Mr. Merlin and Kaamelott.) It stars Colin Morgan as the titular wizard, with Bradley James as the future King of Camelot, Angel Couby as Guinevere, and Katie McGrath as evil seer Morgana.
The show finished its third season on Syfy April 8th where it aired Friday nights. It had been picked up for a fourth series by BBC One last October, which it'll begin airing this autumn.

Yes, i believe it should stay in it's friday time slot. I also think this show freaking rocks man! i can't wait till it comes back on, as it has become one of my favorite shows very quickly.
SYFY on Friday nights is fine but this is as enjoyable and of similar calibre as Masterpiece Theatre. Love the cast, love the back story line (insight into a young Merlin maturing), Camelot, the dragon, Druids and all the romance of those times of myth and magic. Keep "Merlin" going until the wizard is long of tooth and the whole Arthurian legend is played out and then some!!!! Thanks ever so much!

I LIKE MERLIN ALOT IT TAKES YOUR MIND OFF THE EVERY DAY CRAP THAT GOES ON IN OUR COUNTRY. I LOOK FORWARD TO IT EVERY WEEK. ITS DEPRESSING THAT WE HAVE TO WAIT SO LONG FOR THE SEASONS TO START. I happy to see that this show will be continuing on in a 4th season. As the Tv Seareas legend of the seeker is no longer and Camelot has not been picked up and little or no new space or sify showes out there I am bewilder as to this type of venue is coming up lacking as of late. programs like tera a nova are catching my eye! But as a fan of SG And It's venue and Star trek Even the newest try at a 6 year planetary venture through our own solar system on a program that I for the life of me Can,t find or remember the name of ? I would like to see more space shows Along that venue Thanks have a good one.
