$#*! My Dad Says 1.18 'Who's Your Daddy?" Review

Wow, I cannot believe that we are already at the season finale of $MDS. The series has come a long way since the fall and now it looks like we may have to wait awhile until new episode air this fall... hopefully. More on the future of $MDS later because right now, it's time to see just how great this season finale was so, be sure to get your corn muffins ready and have your guns cocked before you read this review as it may be a doozy.

I am not really sure which story to actually call the main story line as they both showed great moments for the characters and gave enough substance to push the entire season 1 story arc forward. Regardless, I think it's best to start with the better of the two stories. I believe that the whole story between Ed and Laura (guest star Riki Lindhome) was one of the better stories this season. While it was nice to finally see Henry get a bigger part in one of the stories, his presence this week was merely just to get the ball rolling and have Ed and Laura meet. I have to admit that I truly believed that Laura was going to end up as the long lost daughter of Ed. The way she spoke with Ed made me believe that there was no other option. Then, in a great surprise twist, the writers threw in that Laura is not Ed’s child but she is in fact the wife of Eds long lost son. Of course, it would be foolish for $MDS to actually reveal the sons identity this season as they want us to come back next season to watch what happens next. Maybe it will be a character we have seen before or perhaps even Justin Halpern himself. I guess we won't know till the fall.

The other story was great in its own ways and could even have stood as a whole episode itself. Bonnie and Vince get an opportunity to show a home to reality star Camille Grammer and appear on a reality show with her. Now, I have very little knowledge of Camille Grammer, The Real Housewives reality shows, or how the women on the show act but, I think Camille may have been poking fun at former cast mates and even herself in her portrayal of herself. It's always nice to see when a reality star has the courage to poke fun at themself and I have to hand it to Camille for putting on a great performance as a diva. While Camille was great as a guest star, the real meat of this story came from Bonnie and Vince finally getting pregnant. The couple has been trying all season to conceive and now they finally have the baby they have hoped for. The pregnancy reveal was actually interesting to see as they didn't just have them randomly find out that Bonnie is pregnant but, having Bonnie vomit on Camille and then realize she was pregnant. This reveal, while done before, was the only way I could have imagined it to go.

Now, before I give my final grade for the episode I would like to call all $MDS fans to attention. As most of you know, $MDS started off very humbly and little was known about the series. The series has now exploded and has worked its way into our everyday life from water cooler talk to college students quoting Ed while in class. Sadly, the decision of whether to renew $MDS is still up in the air. As fans, we now have the duty to not let $MDS end after one season. Hopefully, most of us watched the season finale last night to show CBS that it would be the right thing to renew $MDS for another season.

$MDS has ended its freshman season in a great fashion and it seems that there is plenty more for the Goodson family to do if a second season is issued. If anything, we will at least have reruns and a season 1 DVD to look forward to in the future but for now, we must give thanks to all those involved in $#*! My Dad Says. A+

$#*! My Dad Says 1.17 "Lock and Load" Review

Gun control is a hot topic this day and age. We have seen so much of it in the political scene we want to forget it even exists. Well, this week shows us that not only politicians want to debate over guns but, Rosemary and Ed will goes as far as ending a relationship just to prove a point. Is this weeks episode of Bleep a clean shot of excellence, or is the gun powder of humor to wet to fire?

While the episode centered around the topic of gun control and who should/should not own guns, at the heart of the episode we can see that it was more about the give and take between couples. With the recent string of burglaries in the neighborhood, Ed feels safe as he has guns in almost every room of his home. However, with his girlfriend Rosemary holding a belief that no one should own guns for the argument that they are dangerous, Ed locks his guns up to please Rosemary. This one moment shows that Ed, while vulgar and crude, will risk his safety to please the woman he is with. If I am correct, women really go for that but I am not 100% sure on it. I enjoy that the writers are able to keep a nice balance between the offensive ramblings of Ed while still giving him the softer semi-romantic side. This romantic side diminishes for awhile as Ed and Rosemary fight after Ed's house was robbed and Ed could not protect his home due to his guns being locked up. The fight eventually leads to a break up yet in the end, the two end up getting back together only to break up again (but just for the make up sex). While it was nice to see the two back together, it felt a little rushed as they broke up, got back together, and then broke up again all within a 10 minute span. But I can see that the writers will keep Rosemary for awhile as the romance between her and Ed provides for some entertaining dialogue.

The side story this week once again focused on the trails of Bonnie and Vince trying to conceive. This week took the couple to a fertility clinic where Vince was to do the deed of "filling the cup". This story has been used before in various comedies and it different ways but, Bleep was able to keep it fresh through the errors that Vince and Bonnie encountered during the day. Whether it be the awful porn Vince wouldn't watch, Bonnie whispering into the wrong examination room, or Vince having his beloved porn destroyed by Rosemary, Bleep made every moment seem fresh and down right hilarious. The final moment is what really had me laughing the most. As Rosemary is at Ed's alone, Vince sneaks in to grab his porn movie. With the combination of the Chewbacca cabinet door, Rosemary dressed oddly like Ed, and the video (and a part of Vince's hand) shot, I could not help but chuckle in my seat. It's this kind of comedy that makes Bleep a show to watch every week.

Bleep has been able to hold strong over the past few weeks, and with the season finale next week, you can expect Bleep to finish with a great freshman year. Now, hopefully Camille Grammer won't ruin next weeks episode. A

During the entire episode, I was thinking to myself: "They better bring this character back."

The character I'm talking about is Andre Royo's taxi driver from Over There, Henry. The character made his debut in the episode, and I have to tell you, he was brilliant. Royo's acting is well known by television lovers due to his starring role on HBO's The Wire, and getting a chance to see him again in another show I loved was absolutely fantastic. He played the part brilliantly, and after his last scene in the episode, I was desperately hoping that he would return in some kind of capacity. I have to say, thank god it was left open ended.

Henry will be making a return appearance later in season three, Entertainment Weekly is reporting, and after watching "Olivia," I have to say that he'll be playing a fairly important role in the events regarding our Olivia Dunham, who was trapped in the alternate universe at the end of season two. The two have a great interaction in the premiere, and I can't wait to see how this taxi driver (described in the casting call as "soulful") makes his return later in the season.

There! I've said too much already. If you want to learn more about Henry, you're going to have to wait until tomorrow night.

Fringe's third season premieres tomorrow night (Thursday, September 23) with the episode "Olivia."
