TV Guide has just revealed that Marvel Entertainment and ABC Studios are teaming up to create a hardcover novel inspired by Castle. The graphic novel, entitled Richard Castle's Deadly Storm, will be the first effort in a partnership between Marvel and ABC, both owned by Disney.

Richard Castle's Deadly Storm will feature Castle's famous character Derrick Storm, which was Nikki Heat's predecessor. The premise behind the hit show is that Richard Castle had a wildly successful series of books featuring Derrick Storm, but after becoming bored with the character, he killed him off, upsetting many fans.

That was how the show began as Castle was in the middle of a major writer's block and found inspiration in Detective Kate Beckett to create the character of Detective Nikki Heat, launching a new series of books. The third novel of the Nikki Heat series, Heat Rises, is already available for pre-order and will be released in September.

"We are incredibly excited to be partnering with Marvel to bring Richard Castle's early literary works to life," Castle creator Andrew W. Marlowe said. "It's a great way to expand the Castle universe for all our fans."

The graphic novel, which will be 112 pages long, will be written by Brian Michael Bendis (Avengers, Ultimate Comics Spider-Man) and Kelly Sue DeConnick (Captain America and The Secret Avengers). Lan Medina (Fables) will handle the interior art and Carlo Pagulayan (Planet Hulk) created the cover art, which will make a cameo in tonight's Season 3 finale of Castle.

Growing up in Gainesville, Jill Wagstaff always noticed the huge impact the arts had on the lives of her friends and family. In college, she met Tobin, who shared her love of the arts, and they eventually married and had four beautiful children: Tobin James Jr., 7, Rudy, 6, Dallas, 5, and Larissa Jolene, 4. In 2002, the Wagstaffs started Studio Percussion, Inc., a non-profit music school and arts center specializing in the use of drums and percussion to encourage and inspire students towards community involvement and leadership development. The family runs this organization out of their home, in the space where Dallas and Larissa Jolene currently sleep. The studio currently serves about 200 people, half of which receive financial aid or a full scholarship. Their utter devotion to their family, their school, and their community leaves little time and resources to tend to their home, which is in dire need of repair. Now, it’s up to the “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” team and hundreds of local volunteers to build a safe, new home that will allow this family to continue to support the arts in the lives of their family and their entire community.

There are also two other special surprises for the Wagstaff family: they fly to Tulsa where KISS stopped as part of their KISS/Alive 35 tour. Together, the family and the band worked with Gibson and Mr. Holland's Opus Foundation to provide instruments for a local school, as well as the family's own non-profit music school in Florida. Additionally, artists and designers from Marvel Entertainment collaborated with the “EM:HE” team, providing artwork and merchandise to create a Super Hero themed room for TJ, and created an original piece of art featuring TJ and several Marvel Super Heroes, which will also be used as an actual cover for an upcoming Marvel comic book scheduled to be on-sale April 14.

5 Marvel Comics That Should Be TV Shows

Since superheroes are here to stay, and the comic book industry looking into an uncertain future, it's time for Marvel Comics to bring some new (and some old) faces to the television screen. Here are five comic books that desperately need to be turned into television shows.

Runaways

Created by Brian K Vaughan, Runaways focuses on a group of teens and pre-teens who accidentally discover that their parents are, in fact, super-villains. They do what any rational teenager trapped in comic book would do: They runaway. Hence the title. The books follow them from place to place as they discover they are not alone in this crazy, mixed-up Marvel Universe. They just want to be left alone, but it seems no matter where they go, they either cause trouble or stumble into it. Their parents are looking for them. The authorities are looking for them. It's the kind of set-up that would allow for big, sweeping story arcs as well as very entertaining, self-contained episodes. Vaughan (and the writers that followed him) used the characters' abilities to explore their personalities and would often use them for both great comic and dramatic effect.

It could be an animated show, following the footsteps of Teen Titans, or, preferably, it could be a live-action show. If they decided to make a cartoon out of it, it would allow them to do really anything -- including allowing them to wander through the Marvel Universe. In the books, they have bumped into Spider-Man, Wolverine, Iron Man, and The Punisher on different occasions. Those heroes are never the focus of the story, but they have appeared -- something that would probably not happen if the show was live action. But if the show was live-action, I think they could focus more on the spirit of the books. The focus of the books is never their powers and abilities, but their relationships -- whether it's the relationships they have with each other or their strained relationships with their parents. It's fantastic stuff and it needs its own television show. Brian K Vaughan, the book's creator, is now a writer and producer on Lost. Seems he might be able to pull a few strings if he wanted to . . .
