In early October we reported that NBC had canceled Southland and pulled the plug on airing the six episodes that had already been produced.  Rumors soon started swirling that TNT would pick up the critically-acclaimed show.

Tonight TNT is launching a new series starring Dylan McDermott titled Dark Blue.  This Jerry Burkheimer produced series follows the lives of a team of ultra-undercover cops lead by Carter Shaw (Dylan McDermott).  The series is gritty, dark, and asks the question of just how far is acceptable for an undercover cop to go in order to put away some of the worst criminals imaginable.

Legendary film-maker Steven Spielberg is returning to familiar territory: aliens.  Spielberg is currently attached as executive producer of an as-yet-untitled sci-fi drama series being co produced by his Dreamworks studio and TNT.  Spielberg has wobbled between two types of aliens in his history with the genre:  the benign, and the not so benign.  With this project, it looks like Spielberg is sticking with the not so nice variety of interstellar visitor.

There are some television shows you watch just because you turn the TV on, and there they are. Then there are the other kind; the type that immediately draws the viewer in, and makes them look forward to a weekly date with their television. Leverage falls into the latter category. It is, by far, one of the best written and acted shows on TV today, and it concludes its first season next week with episode 13, “The Second David Job”.
