Alcatraz continues its first season with tonight’s fifth episode “Guy Hastings,” as Detective Rebecca Madsen (Sarah Jones), Dr. Diego Soto (Jorge Garcia) and Emerson Hauser (Sam Neill) race against time to find a former Alcatraz prison guard (True Blood's Jim Parrack) with ties to Rebecca's grandfather and her still-living foster father Ray Archer (Robert Forster).

In 2012 Alcatraz, Guy Hastings overlooks the dilapidated state of his former apartment, ripping off a hidden panel to find photos of his family from the past.  When a current Alcatraz guard finds him trespassing, Guy knocks him unconscious, takes a gun from the same compartment, and stops to observe his daughter’s height markings etched into the wall.  Flashing back to the 60’s, he watches his wife awake in the same room, and plays with his daughter before heading off to work in the rain to train new prison guards, one of whom is the man we’ve come to know as Ray Archer.

Back in the present, Ray shares dumplings with Rebecca Madsen, who asks if Ray really thinks her grandfather Tommy killed her grandmother.  Ray confesses that he didn’t at first, but does now, before a call takes Rebecca to the scene of the beaten guard on Alcatraz.  They reason that if Guy Hastings, a guard rather than an inmate could attack someone violently, he must have been put up to it.  Meanwhile, Ray goes back to his bar while Guy looks on across the street.

History records that Guy Hastings died in a chemical spill in 1963, but while investigating the apartment, they find blood on a side that leads them to the hidden wall panel, empty save for a few clips.  They think it’s likely that Guy will reach out to his still-living daughter Annie, so Diego and Madsen visit her under the pretense of writing an Alcatraz book.  She doesn’t offer much beyond fond memories of her father, but does have a box of old memorabilia.  Back in 1960 Guy leads a young Ray Archer on his first tour through the Alcatraz cafeteria when Ray spots Tommy Madsen (David Hoflin), who immediately lashes out and gets in a violent brawl with the new guard, Tommy quietly hissing “you shouldn’t have come here!”  Back in the present, Guy holds a gun to Ray outside his bar before knocking him out.

In the 60’s Alcatraz infirmary Dr. Beauregard tends to Ray’s head wound, when Wardens Tiller and James arrive demanding an explanation for the incident.  Tiller seems suspicious that Tommy immediately attacked Archer, suggesting a connection and possible breakout attempt, but Guy assures him that he’ll vouch for Ray.  In the present Diego finds a photo of Ray with Tommy Madsen, as his employee calls Rebecca to inform her of Ray’s disappearance.  Ray wakes up to find Guy going through his home looking for evidence of Tommy, and demanding to know his location.  Guy remains certain that Tommy must be somewhere in the present as well, and demands Ray take him to Tommy’s son instead.

After learning that Guy had been seen earlier across the street from the bar, Rebecca, Diego and Hauser visit Ray’s apartment to find it trashed, and his prize watch left behind.  They put together that whoever set the Alcatraz inmates on the lose must be disconnected from and searching for Tommy Madsen, though Hauser remains uncertain why.  Back in the past, Ray swears to Guy that he has no relationship to Tommy Madsen, but Guy informs him that if he is to work at Alcatraz, he should prove his loyalty by attacking Tommy in front of the same inmates who saw his head split open by the man earlier.

In the Alcatraz base Hauser meets with his private team to theorize what could be causing these events, while Diego and Rebecca  recognizes a house from an old photo, and enlists Diego and his computer skills to identify the location, believing Ray and Tommy might have grown up near one another.  Across town, Ray takes Guy to the gravesite of Tommy’s son Van, along with his wife.  Guy says that he was instructed to look for Tommy because of “what they told me, what you saw they were doing to him,” but Ray points out he left some weeks before the disappearances to raise the family Tommy Madsen left behind.  When Guy threatens Rebecca, Ray relents and offers to take Guy to Tommy.

The Alcatraz team manages to figure out from old records that Tommy and Ray were in fact brothers, making Ray Rebecca’s biological uncle, while back in the past the guards arrange for Ray to beat up Tommy in a public display.  As Rebecca and Diego race to the scene, Ray and Guy enter the old home of Tommy Madsen, finding him not there at the moment.  Ray asks Guy where he’s been all these years, but Guy only remembers being knocked out one night on duty, being told his family died in a chemical spill, and spending weeks in the infirmary before suddenly “it wasn’t 1963 anymore.”

Rebecca arrives on the scene, but Guy gets the jump on her, holding her hostage while she insists that he was a good man and that his daughter lived on to have a family of her own.  Hauser enters threatening to put a bullet in Guy’s head, but Rebecca manages to turn the tables and cap Guy in the knee before that happens.  Meanwhile in 1960, Ray visits Tommy in the infirmary, and the two seemingly renews their bond, as Guy observes.

Hauser takes Guy to observe Annie and her family from a distance, noting that Hauser can’t ever see or talk to them, but lamenting Guy as a casualty in all this business.  Across town, Rebecca observes Ray tending bar from outside, before heading over to Alcatraz to confront Hauser.  She’s realized that Ray’s all-too-easy acceptance of the situation means Hauser had approached him about the inmates before, and that Hauser needs someone with ties to Madsen working on the team in order to function.

Meanwhile after a late night, Tommy Madsen confronts his now-elder brother Ray in his bar, who greets him coldly and sends him away noting he’ll kill him if he sees him again.

Alcatraz 1.05 "Guy Hastings" Recap - A Guarded Matter

White Collar heads a little closer to home for Peter (Tim DeKay) again as some criminal activity might be brewing in his neighborhood. Elizabeth (Tiffani Thiessen) overhears a suspicious conversation but is she overreacting thanks to her recent personal experience or is it more insidious than this? We have plenty of sneak peeks below to tease the crime that Manganiello might commit. Warning spoilers ahead.

Elizabeth overhears the conversation as Peter has left a scanner at home which means that the exact location of this discussion is unknown at first, but she does know it is someone who is a convicted criminal. This leads them to True Blood's Joe Manganiello who is ex-convict Ben Ryan, who lives in their neighborhood.

As the sneak peeks below show, the time and location of the crime that Elizabeth believes will happen appear to be incorrect. However, that doesn't mean that Peter won't indulge her, even if he thinks that she might be a bit paranoid after her kidnapping. Elizabeth doesn't have far to got to find someone that will believe her though and she calls in Mozzie (Willie Garson) to help. I'm a big fan of this pairing so I'm looking forward to seeing them working together. Neal (Matt Bomer) will also play an important part; he took on the role of teacher last week and he will find himself going undercover again but this time he might have to ditch the suit and glasses.

There is a personal connection between Matt Bomer and tonight's guest star Joe Manganiello as they were both in the same graduating class at Carnegie Mellon University (the class of 2000 if you were wondering). This is not the only time you will see them appearing in the same project this year as they are both in Steven Soderbergh's Magic Mike and will both be playing exotic dancers (yep you read that right).

Matt Bomer had another piece of big casting news this week as he will be appearing on Glee this April as Blaine's (Darren Criss) brother. They showcased this singing talent of Bomer's once last season on White Collar and I think it is time to get him harmonizing on the show again.

Tonight on White Collar: True Blood's Joe Manganiello Guest Stars

TVGuide is reporting that True Blood has found its latest guest star in Law & Order: SVU vet Christopher Meloni. Meloni will be playing an ancient vampire with power over Eric and Bill in the show's fifth season, scheduled to debut next summer, in his first TV role since leaving SVU. His character name and any detailed description have yet to be released, but when the show resumes production, the picture will be a whole lot clearer.

This, of course, isn't Meloni's first venture into pay cable drama, as he maintained a role on HBO's Oz for four seasons playing charming sociopath Chris Keller. He's also made appearances in two other Law & Order incarnations (Trial by Jury and the original series), Scrubs, and Homicide: Life on the Street, as well as films like Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, and Wet Hot American Summer. After his run in True Blood next season, you can next see the Emmy nominee in Man of Steel with Henry Cavill (The Tudors) and Amy Adams (Enchanted).

True Blood has been as busy as ever filling out the world of Bon Temps, Louisiana for the upcoming season, including introducing Scott Foley's character Patrick at the end of season four before a season long arc in season five. HBO's biggest hit may have spent a majority of its time last season dealing with the fallout from an increasingly powerful coven of witches, but with the news of Meloni's casting, it looks like the vampires aren't being left in the dark just yet.

True Blood: Christopher Meloni Officially Joins Season 5

While Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2 was busy running away with the movie side of the 2011 Scream Awards, two shows were busy battling it out for supremacy in TV land.

HBO's two-headed monster of Game of Thrones and True Blood combined for six Scream Award wins, tying with three each and leading the way for TV-related wins. Thrones, which is set to air its second season in April 2012, walked away with one of the night's highest honors (Best TV Show), while picking up hardware for Emmy winner Peter Dinklage (Best Supporting Actor) and Daenerys Targaryen herself, Emilia Clarke (Breakthrough Performance - Female). True Blood nabbed Best Ensemble, while finding two of its supporting cast rewarded in Alexander Skarsgard (Best Horror Actor) and Saturn Award winner Joe Manganiello (Breakthrough Performance - Male).

It wasn't all medieval politics and southern fried vamps, however, as proven by the other TV winners this year. Matt Smith won Best Science Fiction Actor for his role as the eleventh doctor on Doctor Who and The Walking Dead, premiering its second season Sunday night, was awarded for its comic book. Former That 70s Show star (and current voice of Meg Griffin on Family Guy) Mila Kunis was the night's other TV winner for her buzzed about performance in Black Swan (Best Supporting Actress), a role that nearly won her an Oscar nomination in February.

2011 Spike TV Scream Award Winners Announced

TV Line is reporting that True Blood's Kristin Bauer van Straten will playing the evil sorceress Malefecent in the upcoming ABC fantasy show Once Upon a Time. The actress will be making her first appearance in the second episode of the series, scheduled to air October 30th.

Once Upon a Time tells the story of the fictional town of Storybrooke, an alterna-world where fairy tale characters look like real people and have no knowledge of their true identities. The show is set to premiere Sunday, October 23rd at 8:00 on ABC and will star Jennifer Morrison (House), Ginnifer Goodwin (Big Love), and Jared Gilmore (Mad Men), among others.

Best known to TV fans as eternally snarky vampire Pam on HBO's True Blood, Kristin Bauer van Straten's past TV work includes appearances on The Secret Life of the American Teenager, Justified, and Private Practice. After her appearance on Once Upon a Time, she can next be seen in Alonso Filomeno Mayo's The Story of Luke, with True Blood's fifth season premiering next summer..

Nominations for the 2011 Scream Awards have been announced and critically acclaimed sci-fi, horror, and fantasy shows racked up some serious kudos. True Blood and Game of Thrones led the way with seven each, with both being up for the top prize of The Ultimate Scream. Doctor Who grabbed nomination for stars Matt Smith and Karen Gillian, while Critics' Choice nominee Anna Torv picked up a nod for Best Science Fiction Actress. Tom Welling received recognition for his role as Clark Kent in the final season of Smallville; multiple actors from AMC's monster hit The Walking Dead were praised, along with the show's graphic novel.

This isn't the only awards telecast where genre favorites go head to head, as the Saturn Awards were held earlier this summer with Fringe as the big winner.

2011 Spike TV Scream Award Nominations Announced

The penultimate episode of True Blood saw the showdown between Marnie and the vampires.  A lot of the main human characters had been trapped inside the Moongoddess Emporium because of Marnie.  When members of the coven protested, Marnie ended up killing Casey to prevent her from escaping.  Antonia was devastated by Marnie's actions and tried to leave, but Marnie bound her spirit.  Outside, Bill and the other vampires were stopped from blowing up the store by Jason, who warned them that Sookie was inside.  Marnie took Sookie outside to speak with the vampires, but the force field around the store was impenetrable and, for a time, Marnie managed to convince Eric and Bill to kill themselves to save Sookie.

Pam, of course, was not happy with that plan, but her own plan to blow up the store didn't end up working (and resulted in Eric being angry with her for endangering Sookie).  After, Jessica healed Jason, who was injured by the explosion.  Marnie then attempted to get the vampires to kill themselves by walking into the protective force field, but Sookie managed to use her faerie powers to stop the spell.  In the back room, Jesus attempted a blood magic spell to unbind Antonia and Marie to try and diminish Marnie's power.  Fortunately, it worked seconds before Marnie was about to kill Sookie.

With Marnie no longer tapping into Antonia's powers, Eric and Bill rushed the store and shot Marnie dead.

Sam continued to try and find Marcus, who actually kidnapped his daughter and tried to run away with her and Debbie.  Fortunately, the little girl managed to alert Luna and Alcide and Sam headed to Alcide's house (where Marcus was temporarily hiding) to settle the score.  Sam and Marcus got into an all-out brawl and it ended with Alcide killing Marcus just before he could shoot Sam.  In the end, Alcide broke up with Debbie for her treachery and allegiance to Marcus.

Out in the woods, making his way back home, Andy encountered a faerie named Maurella, who first attacked him and then had sex with him.  When he returned home, he told Arlene about the faerie, who disappeared shortly after they slept together, but Arlene convinced him that it was just a hallucination.

In the last moments of the most recent episode, Marnie's spirit surfaced again and invaded Lafayette's body.

The season finale of True Blood will air on September 12.  Samhain is upon the town.  The spirits of the dead rise in Bon Temps.  This brings a new incarnation of Marnie, but also gives Sookie allies to fight her.  Jason confesses his secret to Hoyt.  Sam and Luna wonder whether they can have a happy ending now that Marcus is dead.  Debbie, angry about being dumped by Alcide, confronts Sookie and Tara.

True Blood Promo: Episode 4.12 "And When I Die" (Season Finale)

The penultimate episode of True Blood will hopefully show us the ultimate show-off between the vampires and witches.  The last episode ended with Eric (who now has his memory back), Bill, Pam and Jessica walking towards the Moongoddess Emporium, prepared to blow it to Hell.  Inside, Marnie still has the members of circle trapped.  When Lafayette, Jesus, Sookie and Jason attempted to get Marnie to release them, everyone but Jason disappeared (presumably transported into the shop).

In tonight's episode of True Blood, the stand-off between the two groups reaches the point of no return.  Marnie wants to bewitch Bill, Eric, Pam and Jessica into a suicide march, but Sookie manages to use her faerie powers to prevent this.  Jesus casts a spell to attempt to unbind Marnie from Antonia (the spirit possessing her).  Sam, reeling from the recent death of his brother Tommy, settles a score with Marcus.  Alcide, who no longer wants to be part of Marcus' werewolf pack after seeing what they did to Tommy, decides to confront Debbie about her allegiances.

Below are three sneak peeks for tonight's episode.  In the first video, Jason tries to stop the vampires from blowing up the shop because Sookie is trapped inside.  The second video shows Sam trying to get to Marcus, while the third sneak peek shows Lafayette using his new abilities to see the spirit of Antonia.

Tonight on True Blood: Episode 4.11 “Soul of Fire” Sneak Peeks

True Blood's fourth season is winding down. Only two more episodes until the season is finished. The show has already been renewed for a fifth season, however, and will return again next summer.

In the meantime, the most recent episode of True Blood saw a continuation of the vampire/witch war, although both sides experienced a few changes.  After Eric attacked Bill while under Marnie's spell, Sookie managed to let loose some power that broke the spell and caused him to regain his memory, which means Pam is thrilled her maker is whole once more.  But there's a lot of conflict between Bill and Nan on how to handle the witch threat, with Bill firmly on the "blow up the Moongoddess Emporium and kill everyone - including Marnie - inside" side.

Meanwhile, after losing control of Eric, Marnie returned back to the store, where Tara and the other members of the coven were still trapped.  When Antonia expressed doubt about continuing on their current path (because of the human blood spilled during the most recent attack), Marnie convinced her that they could accomplish their goal and kill the vampires.  Jason teamed up with Sookie, Lafayette and Jesus to rescue those inside the store before Bill could bomb it.  But everything went to hell when Tara and Holly managed to escape the store, only to have the two women, along with Sookie, Jesus, Lafayette and Marnie herself disappear while in a force field, leaving Jason alone in the street.

Tommy, unfortunately, didn't survive the beating by Marcus and his pack members.  Alcide had tried to get him to a hospital, but the two met up with Sam along the way and Tommy asked his brother to let him die.  Now Sam's on a rampage to dole out justice to Marcus.

The episode ended with Bill, Eric, Jessica and Pam ready to blow the Moongoddess Emporium to kingdom come.

In the September 4 episode of True Blood, Sookie once against summons her faerie powers in order to stop Marnie from bewitching Eric, Bill, and Pam into committing suicide.  Jesus casts his own spell to try and un-bind Antonia from Marie.  Sam will finally face Marcus while Alcide confronts Debbie about her allegiances.

True Blood Promo: Episode 4.11 “Soul of Fire”

There are only three more episodes of True Blood this season.  Last week's episode left us with a few cliffhangers.  One of them, of course, is whether Marnie will succeed in getting Eric to kill Bill (unlikely, since he's a main character). If Eric is unsuccessful, the question is whether he'll continue to be under Marnie's control or will be freed. Then there's Tara and the other coven members who are trapped back in the Moongoddess Emporium.

In tonight's all new episode of True Blood, Sookie will manage to summon powers she hasn't used before - powers that turn out to be her most potent yet - in order to save Bill.  HBO says that this will "break a spell".  The spell controlling Eric, perhaps?  But Marnie's failure to kill Bill will cause her to re-evaluate her mission.

Jason, who had sex with Jessica in the previous episode, begs her to glamour him so that he won't be forced to lie to Hoyt.  Terry realizes that Andy's behavior is getting out of control and decides to drag him to "Fort Bellefleur" to hold an intervention.

Alcide, who witnessed Marcus and his cronies beating up Tommy decides to reconsider his allegiance with the werewolf alpha.  Lafayette and Jason team up to break into the Moongoddess Emporium and try to free Tara and Holly.  But they'll have to work fast because Bill's patience with the witches is running out and he leads a small army of vampires who are determined to blow up the store.

Tonight on True Blood: Episode 4.10 "Burning Down the House" (Sneak Peeks)

There are only 3 episodes left of this season of True Blood which means that danger lies ahead for all the vampires, werewolves, witches, shapeshifters, fairies and humans that are involved (and probably for some that aren't). A few days ago we posted descriptions for the final two episodes of season 4 and there was one line that got some speculation brewing. We will be revealing whether this speculation will prove to be correct as well as showing a first look at Scott Foley's character. Warning spoilers ahead.

The line that got a certain theory circulating was this:

"The denizens of Bon Temps brace for a new crisis with a familiar face."

Knowing that a villain from last season is buried but not dead had many (myself included) thinking that Russell Edgington (Denis O'Hare) could rise from his cement grave. This would turn this "Post-Russell Edgington world" into a very present Russell Edgington one. This however doesn't appear to be the case though, Denis O'Hare said himself recently that:

"It was up in the air. They were definitely bringing me back, it was just a matter of if they wanted to bring me back the last couple episodes or bring me back at the beginning. They decided to do it at the beginning of season 5."

Over at The Hollywood Reporter they asked a HBO spokesperson about the possibility of seeing the spine ripping vampire this season and they also confirmed that this would not be the case. So who else could this familiar face be who will bring this new crisis?

A new face that we will be seeing in Bon Temps is Scott Foley (Felicity, Grey's Anatomy) who will be appearing in the September 11 finale as Patrick, Terry's (Todd Lowe) former platoon leader from his military days in Iraq. Does this spell trouble for Terry? Now all seems fine with the baby and he is definitely somewhat recovered from the PTSD that has been an issue in the past, but will Patrick's presence serve as a reminder for these bad memories and hamper Terry's progress? There are no details as to why Patrick is turning up now but his role will continue into season 5. What we can do is show you a photo that was first revealed by TVLine, of Foley from the season 4 finale (see below). It doesn't reveal much of anything other than that Scott Foley still looks good.

True Blood scored a new ratings high this weekend with an impressive 5.53 million viewers beating out the previous record from last seasons penultimate episode which had 5.44 million viewers.

True Blood End of Season 4 Spoilers

The rivalry between the vampires and witches continued on the most recent episode of True Blood.  After their disastrous meeting in the cemetery, Marnie took Eric hostage and put on a spell on him to control him.  After imprisoning the rest of her coven (who were all growing increasingly worried about going up against the vampires) in the Moongoddess Emporium, she and Eric headed to Shreveport to interrupt the vampire Festival of Tolerance.  Her plan was to have Eric kill Bill during the Festival.  Unfortunately, that was interrupted by Sookie, who healed quickly from her recent gunshot wound (thanks to Bill's blood) and then eventually learned of Marnie's place and headed to Shreveport to warn Bill.

In the August 28 new episode of True Blood, all hell breaks loose during the Festival.  Sookie is able to summon some new and impressive powers in order to save Bill.  She also manages to break a spell (perhaps the one holding Eric under Marnie's control?).  All of this leads Marnie to re-evaluate her mission.  Alcide, who recently asked Marcus to let him move up in the pack, decides to reconsider their new alliance after Marcus attacked Tommy (posing as Sam).

Terry will Andy off to an intervention to help stop his V addition.  But the big showdown in next week's True Blood will happen at the Moongoddess Emporium.  Jesus will up with Sookie, Lafayette and Jason to storm the shop in order to free Tara, Holly and the others trapped inside.  But Bill decides to take a violent stand against the witches and leads a small army of vampires intent on blowing up the shop.

True Blood Promo: Episode 4.10 "Burning Down the House"

The meeting between vampires and witches ended in bloodshed in the most recent episode of True Blood.  While fighting broke out between the two groups, Sookie was shot and Eric was once again a target of Marnie and her spells.  Fortunately, Alcide managed to spirit a bleeding Sookie away from the fight, but we can only guess how unhappy Debbie will be about her boyfriend getting involved with the woman that she hates.

Meanwhile, Lafayette is now possessed by a restless spirit who is connected to the creepy doll and possibly the strange occurrences that happen around baby Mikey.  Jessica told Hoyt that she thought they should break up after experiencing more of her budding connection to Jason, but Hoyt took the whole situation badly.  Unfortunately for Jessica, Jason also wasn't happy that she broke his best friend's heart and also revoked her invitation to his house.

In the August 21 episode of True Blood, Sookie will be attempting to recover from her recent injuries.  Jesus will try to rid Lafayette of the spirit that has possessed him, while Marcus will ask Alcide for help in dealing with Sam.  Bill and Nan will argue over how to deal with recent occurrences, and Marnie will continue to plot her next move against the vampires, even though Tara and Holly aren't sure she's making the right choices.

True Blood Promo: Episode 4.09 "Let's Get Out of Here"

Tonight's all new episode of True Blood picks up right where the last one left off.  The question of what happens to Jessica is resolved and the conflict between the witches and the vampires escalates.  Want a few more details about tonight's episode?  Below are a few mild spoilers.

Bill vs. Marnie: When the dust of Marnie's spell finally settles, she is very unhappy to learn that only a small number of vampires actually perished.  In an effort to resolve the situation, Bill asks Marnie/Antonia to a meeting.  Eric and Sookie take a break from their marathon sex long enough to tell Bill they're prepared to fight with him.  When the two factions - witches and vampires, with a few human commandos thrown in - finally meet in the graveyard, the situation escalates and both Eric and Sookie are targeted.

Lafayette sees dead people: You know that creepy ghost that Lafayette saw hanging around baby Mikey?  Sh's back.  In a big way.  Lafayette's recently discovered powers allows him to tap into her past and we learn a bit more about why she's targeting the baby in particular.

The new love triangle: Want to know whether Jessica lives?  Well, she does.  I don't think that's a big spoiler, since HBO makes mention of her in their official episode synopsis for tonight's True Blood.  But just because she lives through the spell doesn't mean life is smooth-sailing for her.  In fact, her relationship with Hoyt and her burgeoning relationship with Jason are both threatened after some choices she makes tonight.

The werewolves: Marcus (the leader of Alcide and Debbie's new pack) wants nothing to do with the vampire-witch war and makes that clear to his followers.  But he is very eager to get into a war with Sam over Luna and his daughter.  Sam continues to have a powerful enemy in tonight's episode, even after he manages to repair his relationship with Luna after Tommy's recent actions.

Tonight on True Blood: Episode 4.08 "Spellbound?" (Sneak Peeks & Spoilers)

The HBO show True Blood is nearing the end of its fourth year, but HBO has just given a green light to a fifth season for the show.  The show has increased in ratings in its third and fourth seasons, so this renewal shouldn't come as a surprise, especially since spoilers about season 5 storylines have already been making their way around the internet.  Season 5 will contain 12 episodes.

The president of HBO Programming, Michael Lombardo, said “I am thrilled that True Blood continues to enjoy a phenomenal reception from both subscribers and critics.  Alan Ball and his gifted team have devised the greatest thrill ride on TV.”  Creator Alan Ball also expressed happiness at the news: “I remain amazed and delighted by the enthusiasm of our viewers.  I can’t imagine having more fun than this.”

True Blood received four nominations for the 2011 Emmy Awards, although not for major awards like Best Drama.

The fourth season will come to a close in early September and a new episode will be airing this weekend on August 14.  Watch a promo for the next new episode here.

True Blood Renewed for Season 5

The most recent episode of True Blood ended on a cliffhanger. But before Jessica opened the doors to the sun, we saw the witch Antonia possess Marnie’s body and spend the episode recruiting a coven in order to take her revenge on all vampires.

After learning that Marnie/Antonia had escaped, Bill decided to take some extreme measures and ordered his vampire followers to chain themselves down with silver while sleeping during the day to keep them from walking into the sun if Antonia attempted her spell. Of course, this led to many vampires screaming in pain - including Jessica, Pam and Eric - as they did as Bill had ordered. However, Jessica managed to free herself and started walking outside, just as Jason (still connected to her through their blood bond) ran towards Bill’s house in an attempt to save her.

Sookie and Eric, meanwhile, continued to act all lovey-dovey as they spent the night cuddling and/or having sex. Eric decided to embrace his amnesia as Sookie told him more about the kind of vampire he had been before.

In the August 14 episode of True Blood, Bill and Marnie both prepare for a face-off. Sookie and Eric decide to pledge their allegiance to the King. Lafayette continues to see spirits and Sam has to face off against Luna’s ex, Marcus.

True Blood Promo: Episode 4.08 "Spellbound?"

The last episode of True Blood ended with Sookie and Eric finally getting it on in the woods, but tonight's episode takes a while to deal with the fallout from their actions, because there's a lot of other issues that need addressing first.  Since I've already watched tonight's episode, thanks to HBO, here are a few mild spoilers below about what to expect tonight on True Blood.

Marnie: After being fully possessed by the dead witch, Antonia, Martonia (as I'm now calling her) convinces one of her vampire guards to let her walk out of the jail cell.  Then she goes on to wreak some havoc in Bon Temps.

Tara: Tara has to make some very painful decisions about her girlfriend after an aborted attack by Pam on the pair.  Later, Antonia takes advantage of her pain to recruit Tara to her plain to exact revenge on the vampires.  Tara also helps Marnie recruit more humans to her cause.

Alcide and Debbie: The couple join the city's werewolf pack, much to Debbie's happiness and Alcide's join the werewolf pack.  They spot Sookie & Eric having sex in the woods, which leaves Debbie questioning who Alcide really wants to be with.

Bill & the Vampires: After being warned of Antonia's return, he warns Jessica about the danger of this witch coming back.  His greatest fear is that Antonia will want to have all vampires "meet the sun".  He is forced to make some unpopular and painful choices in order to protect the vampires in his kingdom.  Pam also continues to try and find a cure to her rotting curse, but the best she can come up with is a painful procedure to try and make her look better.

Sookie and Eric: This pair continues to go at it - in a literal sense for a long while - until Eric decides to embrace his amnesia because Sookie admits that she never would have let the old Eric into her bed.

Lafayette & Jesus: Jesus tries to make his boyfriend come to some realizations about his power after what happened in his grandfather's house the night before.  Later, Lafayette sees someone very strange (although recognizable to us as the audience).

Jason, Jessica & Hoyt: Jason continues to be weirded out by his recent sex dreams of Jessica which causes him to act strangely around Hoyt.  Jessica, meanwhile, comes to some realizations about her relationship with Hoyt after discussing the situation with Bill.

Sam & Tommy: Sam has to deal with the fallout of Tommy's actions while pretending to be Sam, especially concerning Luna.  When Sam realizes what his brother did, he makes a choice about Tommy's place in his life.

Expect one heck of a cliffhanger to tonight's episode that will have some fans anxious to see what happens next week.  Below are two sneak peeks for tonight's all new episode of True Blood.

Tonight on True Blood: Episode 4.07 "Cold Grey Light of Dawn" (Sneak Peeks)

This week's all new episode of True Blood took place during the full moon, so you know some crazy stuff happened.  Bill successfully captured Eric and Sookie begged him not to harm Eric.  But Bill managed to secure permission from Nan and The Authority to kill Eric permanently, until Eric's present selflessness shone through and Bill chose to let him go.  Eric eventually met up with Sookie and the two - ahem - consummated their new relationship under the full moon.

Marnie continued to make trouble, despite still being trapped in Bill's prison.  The spirit of Antonia has now fully possessed her and she is out to take revenge against vampires.

In Mexico, Jesus too Lafayette to meet his creepy magical grandfather who introduced Lafayette to spirit possession as well, which is sure to lead to Lafayette tapping into his new powers next week.

Back in Bon Temps, Jason spent the entire episode terrified of changing into a were-panther under the full moon, but his worries turned out to be baseless - at least for now.  He and Jessica continued to bond during the night, however.  Could this lead to a relationship between the two?

Tommy discovered that he could shift into Sam and spent the whole episode pretending to be his brother (including firing Sookie and sleeping with Luna), while Sam spent the episode dealing with the fact that his rental properties - including Terry and Arlene's house - burnt down in a mysterious fire which was possibly caused by the creepy baby, who can now see strange ghosts.

And Tara got a surprise visit in Bon Temps from her girlfriend.  She admitted the truth and was seemingly forgiven until a very rotted Pam showed up and attacked the two women.

True Blood Promo: Episode 4.07 "Cold Grey Light of Dawn"

The True Blood team after appearing at this weekend's Comic Con also got in on the action at the HBO presentation for the summer TCA press tour. Alan Ball, Anna Paquin (Sookie) and Stephen Moyer (Bill) answered questions on this current season of the show and also hinted at stories for the forthcoming fifth season. Whilst HBO haven't officially renewed True Blood for season 5 it would appear that this would be an imminent and likely event. Warning spoilers ahead.

There was some speculation last month that Alan Ball might not return for season 5 as showrunner after he suggested that he was possibly done creatively with True Blood. Ball has obviously had a change of heart and now says:

"There will be an end for me at some point but I just closed a deal to do another season. I don't have any desire to leave because I'm having more fun than I ever had in my life."

As the audience we are only just about to hit the halfway point for season 4 but filming for this year has already finished, which is why season 5 story ideas are already being broken by Ball and his team of writers. The main one that Ball teased was that we will get to "explore how one of the vampires was made" and like many others I hope that this will be Pam (Kristin Bauer Van Straten). This looks like it is the correct choice as at the Comic Con panel Ball did actually say that "you will definitely see it [how Eric made Pam] in Season 5." We will also be introduced to more new characters in season 5 which sounds impossible considering how jam packed the world of Bon Temps is but I guess with the high mortality rate nothing is impossible.

Some spoilers were given for the rest of season 4 including a possible connection between the creepy doll and Arlene's (Carrie Preston) creepy baby. Ball said that when the doll was originally introduced at the end of season 3 there wasn't a definitive storyline but it has grown organically into what it is now. He didn't reveal much more about what the doll means but did say:

"And now the creepy baby doll has found its way to creepy baby. They're teamed up now. There's something going on between those two, I can tell you that."

Stephen Moyer was happy that he got to have a one-liner in last week's episode about Pam's bee keeper like attire and teased there will be a Pam line that will apparently be the humdinger of the year. This has been mentioned previously by Kristin Bauer Van Straten who says of this yet to be heard line "it's wrong." Considering some of the brilliant and wrong dialogue that has come from Pam in the past you can but wonder how brilliantly bad this will be.

The panel ended on a personal question to Moyer and Paquin (who are married in real life) about how they felt about the not so happy Sookie/Bill relationship this year, Paquin said:

"Our love in real life is fine, so I'm totally happy for our characters to be as sad and distraught and messed up and hating each other as they like."

Moyer joked that he had asked Ball to add "somebody else in the mix" as he was getting a bit bored but ended by saying that essentially "it's also about Sookie growing up as well." This season really has been about growth and change and it looks like we have more of that to look forward to this year.

Alan Ball Set For Season 5 of True Blood

The moment that many True Blood fans have been waiting for happened this week as Sookie (Anna Paquin) finally succumbed to her urges regarding Eric (Alexander Skarsgård). This was aided by his new state of mind that has revealed a side of Eric that Sookie always thought was present below his hard exterior. Now Eric is feeling guilty for all that he has done in the past, even if he can't remember these terrible actions. A visit in a dream from his maker Godric (Allan Hyde) who he has no recollection of, prompted feelings of sorrow and guilt. It was this contrition that led to Sookie acting on these feelings and initiating a kiss. We have seen before that Sookie is sexually attracted to Eric not just from his blood infused dreams, but it was his harsh personality and her connection to Bill (Stephen Moyer) that have previously stood in the way. Now though with Bill's betrayal and Eric's new state of mind it looks like Eric/Sookie fans might be headed to some scenes they will truly enjoy.

Though all might not be domestic bliss for Sookie and Eric after Pam (Kristin Bauer van Straten) revealed to Bill what had happened to Eric and where he has been since his disappearance. In Pam's defense she is under much stress as her face continues to rot with her ear falling off in the process. Pam of course wants to get revenge on Marnie (Fiona Shaw) who is still clueless as to what the spells she cast were and is currently locked in a cell in Bill's house (or is it now a palace?). Marnie did see another vision of the spirit that uses her body as a conduit and this time it was revealed that some in the clergy were indeed vampires. This was further elaborated on as we were given a history lesson to show why some fear the witches of the 1600s. This one particular witch Antonia (Paola Turbay), as she was burning on the stake cast a necromancy spell that made all the vampires within a 20 mile radius wake and walk in to the sun. It is this kind of power that should be feared in the vampire community and from the Comic Con promo below it looks like this threat is very real.

Getting the hell out of dodge is what Lafayette (Nelsan Ellis) and Jesus (Kevin Alejandro) have done as they head to Mexico to see Jesus' shaman grandfather to get some much needed spiritual help with their current predicament. One problem is that Jesus hasn't seen his grandfather since his ninth birthday, when his grandfather gave him a goat and then made him slaughter it to take the spirit inside of him. It is this power that Jesus hasn't felt since this event and is the power that Jesus thinks that they need to protect themselves.

Elsewhere Tommy (Marshall Allman) after being captured by his parents last week fought back and killed them both in the process. Turning to Sam (Sam Trammell) for help they disposed of the bodies but were almost caught by a V addicted Andy (Chris Bauer). Luckily a quick shift into an alligator by Tommy threw Andy off the scent.

Jason (Ryan Kwanten) is fully healed after his escape from Hotshot thanks to Jessica's (Deborah Ann Woll) blood. Jason ended up having the kind of dreams that comes from vampire blood but instead of being able to enjoy it his subconscious made him think of nothing but Hoyt (Jim Parrack), awkward.

Arlene (Carrie Preston) and Terry (Todd Lowe) tried to rid their home of whatever spirit wrote "baby not yours" on their wall and whilst it may appear that the house is free from evil, the book of matches that set on fire towards the end of the episode would suggest otherwise.

Alcide (Joe Manganiello) received a visit from the wolf packmaster of Shreveport who is less than happy that Alcide has not registered with the pack of his new home. Alcide's desire for free agency looks like it might bring some unhappy times to his door.

In the July 31 episode, Sookie searches for Jason under a full moon; Marnie connects with spirits of the past; Arlene and Terry cope with a suspicious inferno; Debbie (Brit Morgan) urges Alcide to join a new werewolf community; Tommy trades places with Sam; Lafayette feels the spirit in Mexico; Eric surrenders to his King’s will.

True Blood Promo: Episode 4.06 "I Wish I Was the Moon"

Last week's episode of True Blood had Jason (Ryan Kwanten) escaping his werepanther prison but barely making it out alive, Sookie (Anna Paquin) softened further to this new side of Eric (Alexander Skarsgård) and lied to Bill (Stephen Moyer) in the process and the witch/vampire relations became even more fraught as the witch controlling Marnie (Fiona Shaw) decided to hit Pam (Kristin Bauer van Straten) right where it hurts most; her face.

Warning spoilers ahead.

So what is in store for the folks in Bon Temps this week? Life certainly isn't getting easier in "Me and the Devil" as Sookie continues to keep Eric hidden, but will her delicious fairy blood become too tempting for him? Not helping with this is the reappearance of Godric (Allan Hyde), Eric's maker who has previously appeared as council to Eric even since his 'true death' in season 2. This version of Godric is less forgiving than the previous projection we have seen as he tells Eric that he is "incapable of love" and that he should give in to his nature and drink from Sookie as she will not be able to redeem him. Whether this is a dream sequence is unclear but things do not look good for the sleeping Sookie in the clip that can be seen below.

Elsewhere, Jessica (Deborah Ann Woll) and Hoyt (Jim Parrack) after finding a half dead Jason at the side of the road are still encountering relationship troubles. Hoyt is more than happy that his girlfriend used her blood to save his best friend and tries to show his appreciation. He gets rebuffed which would suggest that Jessica is feeling more than guilty for glamouring Hoyt and feeding on another human. Things are likely to get more complicated for the pair as Jason is likely to have some interesting dreams about his best friends girlfriend if other instances of feeding on this show are anything to go by. Jason has had more than a hard time after his repeated rape at the hands of the werepanther women so how will he respond to these kind of dreams and emotions from Jessica's blood? We have also seen with Jason that he falls in love very easily, will he think that he feels this way about Jessica as well?

The one person who wants to take revenge this week is Pam after what Marnie did to her face. As we know Pam does not mince words (her clip is NSFW) and the only person who she shows any kind of loyalty to is Eric, so when Bill tells her not to kill Marnie will she actually listen to her King? The punishment for killing a human this season as we have seen is the 'true death' so hopefully Pam is smart enough not to retaliate in such an obvious way. They also need Marnie and her group to try and reverse the spell on Eric but it is clear that Marnie is not in control of her actions. Marnie's mysterious dream that showed the witch that is controlling her being burnt at the stake, in what appeared to be the Spanish Inquisition period could hold the key to what this witch wants and why she might be going after vampires. She is clearly very powerful and I wonder what other tricks she could have up her sleeve.

True Blood: 4.05 "Me and the Devil" Sneak Peeks

Eric continued to act like his new self in the most recent episode of True Blood.  After getting drunk off of the faerie blood, he decided to run off on Sookie, so she called Alcide to help her track him down.  Pam, meanwhile, lied to Bill about knowing Eric's whereabouts.  But despite not being able to find Eric, Nan thinks that Bill is overreacting about the witches and ordered him to get control over the situation.

Marnie had strange dreams about a witch being burned and she continued to be possessed by this witch.  She agreed to help Tara, Lafayette and Jesus heal Eric, but once they finally found and attempted the spell, Marnie was possessed again and turned on Pam, invoking a spell that started turning her into a corpse.

Jason continued to be raped by the were-panther girls, until he managed to convince one of the young girls to free him.  After learning that he escape, Felton and some of the other men took chase.  Later, Jason managed to kill Felton, which made Crystal extremely happy since she will now be in a position of power with the clan.  After running all day, Jason collapsed by the side of the road where he was found by Jessica (who gave him some of her vampire blood) and Hoyt.

Sam went to visit Luna and learned her secret: she has a young daughter named Emma.  But while Sam was happy to hang out with the little family, he later learned that Luna's ex is actually a werewolf who likes to keep tabs on her and doesn't like it when other men get close to her.

Portia introduced Bill to her grandmother, Caroline Bellefleur.  While Caroline discussed her family's history, Bill discoverd that he's actually related to the Bellefleur family.  He told Portia that they can't continue their relationship between he's her great, great grandfather several times removed.

Arlene's baby gets progressively more creepy, and writes the words "baby not yours" on the wall when Terry calls himself the baby's father.

Tommy returned home to visit his mother and after spending the day with her, Joe Lee wraped a chain around his neck and told him that they're taking him back into the family.

In the July 24 episode, Sookie continues to take care of Eric, while Bill decides to get involved in the witch situation.  Arlene and Terry decide to turn to religion to try and solve their baby problem.  Jesus and Lafayette take a trip to Mexico to gain access to a shaman's power while Jason tries to heal from his recent injuries.

True Blood Promo: Episode 4.05 “Me and the Devil"

The most recent episode of True Blood showed us a softer side of Eric, which was rather amusing.  He admitted to Sookie that he doesn't remember who he is, although he knows he's a vampire. Sookie agreed to help him if he promised not to feed on her.  Pam got wind of what happened and insisted that Sookie hide Eric from Bill and the witches.  She went to Alcide for help hiding Eric and found out that Debbie (now a recovering V addict) was living with him in Shreveport.  Sookie wasn't happy to see her considering Debbie tried to kill her, but Alcide did offer his assistance.  At the end of the episode, Sookie's faerie godmother returned to bring Sookie back to the faerie realm, but Eric attacked, drank from her, and killed her before she could force Sookie to leave.

Jessica told Bill that she fed on another man and Bill said she had to confess her recent actions to Hoyt.  She returned home to tell him the truth (and also discovered that the weird doll they keep throwing out continues to return to the house).  When Hoyt understandably got upset about her feeding from other men, she wiped his memory of her recent confession.

Jason continued his change into a were-panther and Crystal told him they turned him so that he can help save their species from extinction.  Then it was an "all you can eat Jason buffet" as Crystal and the other female were-panthers took turns with him, trying to get pregnant.

Meanwhile, a man from the gas company came by to offer Maxine money to drill on her land.  Tommy, not one to turn down some easy money, lied to the man about being a Fortenberry and attempted to negotiate a better deal, but didn't tell Maxine.  He asked Sam to help him buy the house so they could split the gas profits, but Sam ordered him to be honest with Maxine.

Lafayette was afraid of retaliation from Eric, so he wanted to try and make amends so Eric wouldn't kill him.  When confronted by Pam, Tara offered to make a deal to bring her Marnie (to try and save Eric) in exchange for letting her, Lafayette and Jesus live, despite their part in what happened to Eric.  They now have a day to deliver Marnie.  Marnie, meanwhile, continued to call on the spirit that recently possessed her.

Portia Bellefleur suggested to Bill that they start a sexual relationship. He agreed, but flat out told her that he can't love her.

In next week's episode of True Blood, Marnie tries to figure out how to break a spell, Jason begs for his freedom, Sam finds a way into Luna's inner circle and Alcide helps Sookie search for Eric.

True Blood Promo: Episode 4.04 "I'm Alive and On Fire"

We were left with quite the cliffhanger at the end of last week's episode of True Blood.  Marnie completely messed with Eric's mind and when Sookie found him he admitted he had few memories.

In tonight's new episode you'll see the two of them trying to figure out how to deal with this new version of Eric.  Pam, of course, is not happy about the turn of events with Eric and ends up delivering an ultimatum to Tara, Lafayette and Jesus.  Eric tries to figure out how to live knowing he's a vampire but not really remembering how much of an evil s.o.b. he generally is.  Will his new persona cause Sookie to like him a bit more?  Unlikely.  Especially when he interrupts her reunion with her faerie family.

Also, Alcide is back in tonight's True Blood.  Sookie seeks him out for help and he's got a new roommate that might be a bit unexpected.

Jessica, meanwhile, continues to struggle to control her vampire instincts.  After feeding on another woman she goes to Bill for advice.  Could this be the breaking point in her relationship with Hoyt?

Lafayette is understandably freaked out about what Marnie and the coven did to Eric and isn't eager to get on his bad side again, so he wants to try and fix the situation before Eric comes back to kill him and the others.  But Marnie just continues to push the limits of her new powers.

Jason will also have to deal with the fallout of being bitten by the werepanthers.  What will this mean for him going forward?

Tonight on True Blood: Episode 4.03 “If You Love Me, Why Am I Dyin’?” (Plus Sneak Peeks)

Tonight sees the White Collar team trying to stop a deadly woman who is suspected of murdering her four wealthy husbands to procure their wealth. Neal (Matt Bomer) and Peter (Tim DeKay) must intercept before this 'black widow' (played by Twin Peaks' Mädchen Amick) before she ensnares her next victim.

One of the fun aspects of this show is when one or more of the characters has to go undercover and this week is no exception. Quite often it is Neil that has to perform these duties, and as the person going undercover this week needs to become a perfect catch for this 'black widow' it would seem likely that with his set of charm and flirting skills that Neal would be the perfect choice. However, this is not the case this week and it is Peter with his less robust set of flirting tools who will be the person sent in to play the rich bachelor.

As we have seen throughout the series and was first highlighted in the season 1 episode "Vital Signs," flirting is not Peter's strong suit but he does have a certain charm with women. His inability to flirt is something that his wife Elizabeth (Tiffani Thiessen) finds hilarious and this aspect of his job is not something that she has worried about in the past. I hope that they will show her finding the humorous side tonight as their marriage is one of the most refreshing that is currently on TV (particularly as Friday Night Lights draws to a close).

Executive producer Jeff Eastin did tell TVLine that "Veiled Threat" is "one of the funniest episodes we’ve ever done" and that it allows Tim DeKay to shine in a more comedic manner. Eastin also reminds us of DeKay's roots:

"He’s actually a really, really good comedic actor. People forget that he was Bizarro Jerry [on Seinfeld], and started his career in comedy. He’s definitely got that ability."

It is a role reversal to see Neal in the van with the surveillance team and after amusing previous occasions with Neal in this position I think we can expect more of the same, even amongst the threat of murder. Though I'm sure as the photograph above suggests we will also see Neal working the party in some undercover aspect, he never stays too long in the van and is always up to some mischief.

In exciting White Collar casting news a werewolf has been captured; True Blood's Joe Manganiello (Alcide) will play an ex-con who moves in across the street from Peter and Elizabeth and will bring trouble to the neighborhood. He has already started filming his role but his episode won't air until the second half of season 3 in January. Yep this is indeed a long wait but you will also be able to catch Manganiello on this Sunday's True Blood.

Tonight on White Collar: 3.05 "Veiled Threat"

Several people are in deep trouble after the most recent episode of True Blood.  Chief among them is Eric, whose mind has been scrambled by Marnie and her coven.  Three guesses on whether Sookie will agree to help Eric out as he tries to navigate this difficult time (and the first two guesses don't count).

For those of you who have been missing Alcide (Joe Manganiello), the wait is over.  The hunky werewolf will be returning in the July 10 episode of True Blood and he will be reconnecting with Sookie.

Jessica confesses her recent actions to Hoyt and then goes to Bill for guidance about her guilt.  Jason, of course, is now in trouble after getting bitten by the werepanthers.  He starts going through some serious - and painful - changes in the July 10 episode, while Andy continues to spiral downwards with his V addiction.

Lafayette, Jesus and Tara are getting in deeper with Marnie and her coven, at least until Pam delivers an ultimatum to the trio.  But it doesn't look like Tara's going to take any warnings lying down.

Finally, the faeries return to speak to Sookie, but Eric crashes the reunion party.
