The Bachelorette Makes Her Way to the Hometowns

Meeting your boyfriend’s family for the first time would be stressful. Doing that four times in a row would turn most into a nervous wreck.

This week the Bachelorette, Colorado native and bridal stylist Desiree Hartsock, went to the meet the families of her four concurrent boyfriends. It’s an activity few envy and even less would consider a vacation.

Date 1: Zak, the Fluid Engineer

Dallas may not be very far from the Bachelorette’s hometown Northglenn, Colorado; but the sno cone stand reality was a world away from the fluid drilling firm Des had been led to believe Zak’s family ran.

Then, while taking her on a trip on the sno cone cart through the streets of Dallas, Zak reappeared in a panda suit, something that seems to be an odd choice for a man looking to impress a girl more than three other men.

Once he had changed back into normal clothes for dinner, Des was privy to watching his mom and sister be embarrassed by his post limo antics. (She did, in fact, accept the abs) On this trip Zak also told Des that he loved her – a red flag for his sister who made it very clear that she was worried Zak would be hurt.

His imminent doom was pretty much confirmed after the Zak gave her his grandmother’s ring and the audience feared she would faint.

Date 2: Drew, the Digital Marketing Analyst

Drew was a confident man once Des arrived in Scottsdale, Arizona and he declared the next time his family saw him, he would be an engaged man. Drew also captured the hearts of many viewers after they saw him with his sister, a lovely girl who is severely challenged.

However, despite Drew’s confidence and sterling smile, most viewers did believe his dad was picking Des up when she asked her if she believed in angels.

He was referring to this daughter.

Date 3: Chris, the Mortgage Broker

After Des finished visiting Drew in Scottsdale, she headed up north to the much more temperate Mcminnville, Oregon. And once she arrived, the former major league baseball player was very proud to show his dad that his new girl “could hit”.

However, the date took a weird turn when Chris’s dad changed into his white coat and began giving out free chiropractic care at the dinner table. She didn’t know it at the time, but Des’s emphatic yes after Chris’s mom asked if she drank wine may have been the key to getting her through the night.

Strangeness aside, it was pretty cute when Des and Chris exchanged crafts.

Date 4: Brooks, the Sales & Marketing Professional

After her back adjustment, Des returned to the Southwest to meet Brooks’s family in Salt Lake City, Utah.

The strangest moment of the entire moment of the episode took place during this date when Des told Brooks that her favorite moment was watching him writhe in pain – his anguish was adorable. However, despite this admission, Brooks still feels that Des is holding back.

But it would be difficult to really apply to yourself to four relationships.

Brooks’s family was also, by far, the largest. Family members all wore nametags to help Des keep tabs on everyone.

The date also took a tumultuous turn as Brooks is currently the only guy who has not confessed his love for Des – and the only guy she was said the L-word too. Brooks was also the only guy to discuss deal breakers – for example, it would be over if his mom did not approve of Des.

And as he said that “things went okay”, it’s hard to say if she garnered his mom’s seal of approval.

The Rose Ceremony

After the dates were over and everyone had returned to Bachelorette headquarters, it was time for Des to send someone home. Naturally, the first rose went to Brooks and the second to Chris. This left Drew and Zak on pins and needles as they waited to hear who would be out of the running.

And finally Zak was left standing, without a rose. A broken man indeed, as evidenced by him throwing his grandmother’s ring out of the limo on the ride home.

But it’s not like he could have used it again anyway.
