FOX has a scythe and is not afraid to use it today...
Right after announcing four early pick ups for the fall and the cancellations of Human Target and Breaking In, FOX has also thrown the midseason entries The Chicago Code and Traffic Light onto the discard pile of shows that won't make it next year.
Created by Shawn Ryan (The Shield), The Chicago Code premiered on February 7th of this year and opened with decent ratings and favorable reviews by top critics. The show revolved around a Chicago Police Department who are trying to stop corruption within the political landscape of the city of Chicago while trying to keep the streets safe from every day problems. The show starred Jennifer Beals, Jason Clarke, Matt Lauria, Todd Williams, Billy Lush, Devin Kelley, and Delroy Lindo.
The Chicago Code has two more episodes to air and was expected to repeat its entire first season this summer in a Saturday night-time slot. However, with news of the show's cancellation, it's not clear whether or not The Chicago Code will even get a chance to find a new audience before it leaves the television schedule for good.
Traffic Light also premiered to audiences in February and revolves around three college buddies in their thirties as they juggled their careers, love, and life in general. The show was based on the Israeli show named Ramzor, which means "traffic light." The American version starred Nelson Franklin, Kris Marshall, David Denman, Liza Lapira, and Aya Cash.
With these cancellations and early pick ups popping up all over the place, we wonder if FOX's 2011 schedule is pretty much close to being set in stone, especially with The X Factor and American Idol dominating a lot of the schedule space in both the fall and spring. We shall see next week when FOX reveals its schedule to the press at Upfronts.
