Arrow is adding another new character for Season 4, and while it appears he won’t have too much to do in the present, he’ll be an integral part of Oliver’s past. British actor Jimmy Akingbola has joined The CW superhero series as Baron Reiter, better known to DC Comics fans as Baron Blitzkrieg.
Akingbola’s role will be in an important one in Arrow Season 4, as the show’s version of the Baron will be the head of the Shadowspire criminal organization. Reiter will try to recruit Oliver to join Shadowspire in this season’s flashbacks, meaning that Akingbola will be a fixture throughout pretty much all of Arrow Season 4.
Akingbola’s previous TV credits include BBC One’s Holby City, Holby Blue and Doctors. Additionally, he also appeared in History’s Sons of Liberty.
As mentioned above, Akingbola is just the latest new cast member to join Arrow Season 4. The series has already cast Neal McDonough (Justified) as this season’s big bad, Damien Darhk; Alexander Calvert (Bates Motel) as Anarky, who will work with Damien Dark; and Echo Kellum (Ben and Kate) as Mr. Terrific, Arrow‘s first LGBTQ character, who will be an employee of Palmer Technologies, which is now being run by Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards).
Arrow Season 4 premieres on Wednesday, Oct. 7, at 8 p.m. on The CW.
