Arrow Extended Preview: Oliver Queen Wants to Save Starling City…One Bad Guy at a Time

ArrowConfession: I didn’t watch Smallville with any consistency. But I’ve already screened the Arrow pilot and there’s nothing that’s going to stop me from getting into this show from the very beginning.

The attractive Stephen Amell plays Oliver Queen, a billionaire playboy who was marooned on an island five years ago when his family’s yacht sunk in a devastating storm. Fast-forward to the present, when Oliver has been rescued and returned to Starling City. Welcomed back by his mother and sister, Oliver can’t help but try to come to terms with the scars (literal and metaphorical) that he’s sustained over the years.

But Oliver is hiding a dark secret: he’s been tasked with cleaning up the corruption of his beloved city. By day he tries to slip back into his playboy exterior, by night he’s prowling the streets as the Green Arrow, a mysterious hooded figure who seems determined to rid the city streets of the people who have ruined it.

Katie Cassidy (of Supernatural and Melrose Place fame) plays Laurel Lance, Oliver’s former girlfriend who isn’t exactly pleased when she hears that he’s alive, especially because of what he was doing when she thought he died. A new lawyer in the city’s legal aid office, she’s also trying to clear the city of corruption, but we suspect it may be a while before she learns of Oliver’s alter-ego and the two team up.

After The CW announced its 2012-2013 primetime schedule, we posted a short trailer and clip for the show. Now the network has released an extended preview, which you can watch below.

Arrow will air on Wednesday nights at 8:00 p.m. ET/PT beginning in the fall.
