The CW’s Official 2011-2012 Schedule

With only 10 hours to fill in primetime, The CW won’t ever be going on a pilot order spree like NBC or ABC. In fact, it’s more like its parent company CBS, who renewed a lot of long-standing shows and will only make spots for just a few new pilots.

The CW gave early renewals to five of its longer-running shows: Supernatural, The Vampire Diaries, 90210, Gossip Girl and America’s Next Top Model. Smallville has ended its run so it is now off the schedule. This week, we learned that The CW gave a season 2 renewal to Nikita, but canceled the other freshman series Hellcats. Life Unexpected had ended many months ago, so the fate of only one show was up in the air: One Tree Hill. We also learned this week that it was renewed for a ninth season, but only for 13 episodes that will likely return midseason.

Meanwhile, the network has picked up three new pilots: Hart of Dixie (starring Rachel Bilson from The O.C.), The Secret Circle (starring Britt Robertson and based on a novel series by Vampire Diaries author L.J. Smith) and The Ringer (starring Sarah Michelle Gellar and pilfered from CBS, where it was originally intended to go.

A few days ago we posted what was rumored to be The CW’s new schedule and it turns out it was largely correct.

Below is the official CW 2011-2012 schedule.

Tuesday
8:00 p.m. 90210 (new day)
9:00 p.m. The Ringer (new show) – view photos and a trailer

Wednesday

9:00 p.m. America’s Next Top Model

Thursday
8:00 p.m. The Vampire Diaries – read mild season 3 spoilers
9:00 p.m. The Secret Circle (new show) – view photos and a trailer

Friday
8:00 p.m. Nikita (new day and time) – read mild season 2 spoilers
9:00 p.m. Supernatural

Held for Midseason: One Tree Hill, The Framed and Re-modeled
