This season has been one of transition for the characters who inhabit Lockhart Gardner and the State's Attorney's office and we have come full circle in some respects. Peter (Chris Noth) is about to embark on another campaign and Alicia (Julianna Margulies) has conflicted feelings about her relationship with Peter that could lead to a big decision. This season finale will also see Kalinda's past catch her up in a significant way and there is a threat to the future of Lockhart Gardner as two formidable opponents team up together to bankrupt the firm.

Let's start with the Louis Canning (Michael J. Fox) and Patti Nyholm (Martha Plimpton) element of the finale that has this self-confessed 'dream team' threatening to destroy Lockhart Gardner. It is still unclear as to why they are doing this or who they are working for but seeing these two pair up should be a whole lot of fun, even if it is at the expense of the firm. This is also not the first time this season that LG has faced going bankrupt as the divorce case in "Alienation of Affection" could have had this result if they had lost. Who do you think is behind this? Is the firm in real jeopardy? It is the finale which does make the stakes a little higher but it would be hard to imagine the show without the firm as a central workplace. If it were to happen it would certainly shake things up for next season.

One person who could be in physical danger is Kalinda (Archie Panjabi) who thanks to Agent Delaney (Jill Flint) has caught the attention of Lemond Bishop (Mike Colter) in the worst possible way. Alicia as Kalinda's lawyer (and friend again- yay!) receives a call that has her concerned for Kalinda's well being and Kalinda claims that the caller is indeed dangerous. We've seen Kalinda get out of a lot of sticky situations in the past but is this one step too far? One of the big set ups this year has been getting Kalinda and Alicia back to a place of friendship and last week this was cemented and demonstrated by a chair swivel. This doesn't sound like much, but that one moment was just as worth it as the Will (Josh Charles) and Alicia elevator scene at the end of season 2.

Speaking of that season 2 moment unfortunately for fans of Will and Alicia as a couple don't expect to see a repeat of this in the season 3 finale. This doesn't meant that there won't be something to look forward to and Josh Charles spoke to E!Online about this pairing saying "What we're seeing is a sort of deepening of the relationship as they become more friends. You see it touch on that in this really lovely scene between Will and Alicia toward the end of the finale." Alicia has other relationship conflicts to address that concern Peter and his governor campaign; will she go back to being 'the good wife'?

Season 3 of The Good Wife has seen most of the characters going through moments of change in both their personal and professional lives. We have seen Cary (Matt Czuchry) go from an idealistic attitude at the SA office back to Lockhart Gardner claiming that he hasn't really learned anything from his experience there. While this is an exaggeration on Cary's behalf about his own personal growth it is so wonderful to have him back on the team and hopefully the firm still exists at the end of the episode so we can see Cary working his magic at Lockhart Gardner. Will has also gone through major changes this year that have made him a better man; he fell in love and got his heartbroken and then faced up to his past professional demons and accepted the consequences. Eli (Alan Cumming) is a hard character to pinpoint in terms of growth as he keeps himself pretty guarded though this year, though we did get to see two women who got under his skin.

One character who hasn't really changed all the much this year is Diane (Christine Baranski) who has remained a calming force when all around is chaos. Diane stuck with Will even though she could have easily cast him aside as a liability. She handled the childish behavior from several of the equity partners as the Will shenanigans were going on and she even got some romantic action from not one but two men. The one Diane storyline I would have liked to have seen more of was the legal aid work with Romany Malco and I'm assuming that he is still in the LG offices somewhere.

There are several loose ends that need to be addressed in this season finale with the immediate ones involving the oncoming assault from Louis and Patti and the more long term story with Peter and Alicia. The Kalinda investigation is also an immediate threat and one that makes me feel nervous.

What are you hoping for or expecting from The Good Wife season finale? Do Patti and Louis have a chance in their quest for destruction? Is Kalinda in real danger? What are your thoughts on season 3 as a whole? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.

Last week Peter (Chris Noth) officially announced his decision to run as governor, even with the Matthew Perry shaped obstacle in the way. This week's episode looks like it will be concentrating on Cary (Matt Czuchry) and Kalinda (Archie Panjabi) and decisions that could affect both of their futures. Spoilers ahead.

Since Cary's demotion at the SA office he has lost some of his spark that made him such a formidable opponent and even Alicia (Julianna Margulies) commented on how unhappy he seemed last week. Anyone who has seen the promotional material for these last few episodes of The Good Wife knows that this unhappiness will be leading Cary to make a huge career decision and it would appear that he will be returning to the 'dark side' that is the private sector. While Cary's time at the SA office has been interesting to watch it has also meant that Cary has had a reduced role; there is only so much that can be done with Cary working in another office. This show is great with the guest stars that have appeared this year, but on occasion it feels like the regular cast gets a short shrift in favor of those who are appearing in an episode or two and Cary has definitely suffered this year outside of the Wendy Scott-Carr story,

We have seen that Cary respects and enjoys working for Peter, but as Peter will be occupied with another campaign this could be the perfect time for Cary to return to Lockhart Gardner. Cary has also seen that the SA office isn't squeaky clean and free from unethical practices and so returning to the side of the defense might not seem as 'dirty' now. For more reasons as to why Cary should return to Lockhart Gardner you should check out this rather comprehensive and brilliant list here.

One relationship that is still not so perfect and could be awkward if Cary does indeed return to Lockhart Gardner is with Kalinda. There has been very much a push and pull between these two this year and even though it is more civil now, there is definitely some unresolved tension. Kalinda will have other things on her mind tonight as there will be repercussions to deal with resulting from Agent Delaney's (Jill Flint) investigation. What could these repercussions be? At least we know that Kalinda has a good lawyer and hopefully this might lead to a bar scene that has been missing for over a season now.

Last week we met a Callie (Julianne Nicholson), a lawyer that Will (Josh Charles) has a past connection with and looks set to have a romantic involvement with in the present. This will be much to the dismay of fans of Will and Alicia who are hoping to get a brief moment as good as last season's finale. Unfortunately for Will his personal and professional interactions might crossover again as it appears that Diane (Christine Baranski) has interviewed Callie for a job. Diane chastises her partner and tells him "Could you please leave your pants zipped!" Good advice there.

It looks like we have a Peter/Will/Alicia scene to look forward to and it is unclear whether Alicia will be returning to her husband for his campaign period; will you be surprised if she makes the decision to support Peter by taking the role of 'the good wife' again? If Alicia does make this choice will that negate everything that has happened this season in terms of her independence?

There is also a case in tonight's episode "The Penalty Box" (sports reference ahoy!) and Alicia defends Judge Cuesta (David Paymer) against misconduct charges that stem from his days as a prosecutor. Recently the cases have not been as essential to the storyline which is only natural at this point in the season but seeing a judge in this position will definitely be a change, especially as it is a judges that has appeared multiple times on The Good Wife.

In some non-plot related Good Wife news CBS has just announced that there will be a Good Wife home decor line. This line is in response to comments from viewers and critics regarding the fantastic set design. The products will include furniture, lightening and accessories and will feature in the sets of season 4. Would you consider buying something from this line?

Fox and Martha Plimpton - will both be appearing in the finale.

In the season finale, titled "The Dream Team", the future of Lockhart Gardner is threatened. Fox returns as Louis Canning, while Plimpton resumes her role as Patti Nyholm, both of whom decide to team up to bankrupt the firm. Will and Diane scramble to save their business against these two formidable foes who sue the firm for fraud. Even Peter is embroiled in the mess when he is deposed by Canning regarding the fraud charges against the firm.

Alicia's personal life hits a snag when she has to confront her remaining feelings for Peter. Kalinda also has issues when her "past catches up to her".

Tonight on The Good Wife: The Political and the Personal (Photo and Video)

One of the central themes of The Good Wife is how the personal and the political can never truly be separated; if you are a political figure and you cheat on your wife it is expected for your wife to be at the press conference where you apologise to your voters. This is the opening scene of the pilot of The Good Wife and one that has happened on many occasions in real life politics.

A candidate's actions regarding their family can be just as important as policies, so it is not surprising that the lines will become blurred once again on as Peter (Chris Noth) must decide whether he will be running for governor or not. Eli (Alan Cumming) will also be facing a big decision that will influence both his career and his personal and relationships. Oh and Matthew Perry is back tonight and he is playing less than friendly and with just three episodes left expect big things. Spoilers ahead.

The last episode ended mid-scene and pre-big confrontation between Alicia (Julianna Margulies) and Jackie (Mary Beth Peil) in the beauty salon and this will be where tonight will resume. There have been previous big arguments between Alicia and Jackie; Alicia has always been able to keep her emotions in check until she is away from her meddling mother-in-law, but will she be able to control herself tonight? This is not the only confrontation that Jackie will be involved in tonight and it looks like things could take a turn for the worse for one of the folks involved.

Alicia does have a case tonight where she is counselling a client about whether to accept a strict plea deal, but it is Peter's campaign that will be her focus. A new rival is threatening to bring Alicia back into the spotlight and it looks like it will be Matthew Perry's Mike Kresteva who will be doing the threatening. We were introduced to Mike in "Blue Ribbon Panel" and he definitely seemed somewhat preoccupied with the fact that Alicia is married to Peter and it would appear that he was testing the water with Alicia here. Mike is quite happy to play dirty and if he seemed antagonistic on that panel it looks like he is about to get way worse. We already know from Donna Brazile's time on the show that there are rumblings that Peter and Alicia are separated and it really wouldn't take much to confirm this information; will Mike use this gossip against Peter? Or will Mike use something that will affect Alicia's career? Check out the interview with Matthew Perry and Julianna Margulies below for some sneak peeks into what will go on between these two characters tonight.

It may not seem like it should matter if Peter and Alicia are together, but as it was so bluntly put in last season's finale; "I don’t think that’s her [Alicia's] choice. Without her Peter is a john who overpaid for a prostitute, with her he’s Kennedy." Sadly this stuff really does matter in the political sphere and so Alicia might have a huge decision on her hands, especially if she thinks Peter should run.

We are at episode 20 this season and episode 20 last year was the last time that Alicia was called upon to play the 'good wife' to the media as she went on television before the vote for State's Attorney. This episode also happened to be where Alicia found out about the whole Kalinda (Archie Panjabi) betrayal, so can we expect another huge revelation? Tonight's episode is called "Pants on Fire" (and was originally called "No Ordinary Lie") so there is definitely some deception at play.

Another returning face tonight is Parker Posey as Vanessa Gold; Eli's ex-wife and another person that is running for political office. Eli has been helping his ex on the side with her campaign, advising on what color to use for posters and the like but will have to make a choice between Vanessa and Peter? Whatever decision Eli makes it will be good to have Parker Posey back as she has great chemistry with Alan Cumming and it is always enjoyable to see Eli a little flustered.

Other big changes are coming for Cary (Matt Czuchry) as he evaluates his career and his position within the SA office after his demotion. This storyline will be touched upon tonight but is going to be in full focus next week. We will also be introduced to an attorney from Will's past; Callie (Julianne Nicholson) who owes Will a date from a long time ago. This development is unlikely to please Will/Alicia fans but is it really a sign that Will is ready to move on from Alicia?

In a season that has featured few Peter and Alicia scenes together this looks like it could be a huge episode for the separated couple; will Peter run for governor with Alicia by his side?

Perry is playing Mike Kresteva, the chairman of a blue ribbon panel that Alicia (Julianna Margulies) has been assigned to, a panel that is investigating an Internal Affairs matter relating to a police shooting. Elsewhere on tonight's episode Kalinda (Archie Pajabi) is continuing to have issues with the IRS that will see a face from her past return and the fight for more power between the equity partners at Lockhart Gardner rages on.

As with all things politically and law related in The Good Wife the two are entwined, so there are a couple of other members of the blue ribbon panel that will be familiar to you and these are Judge Dunaway (Kurt Fuller) and Judge Winter (Peter Riegert). These two judges also happen to be two out of the three judges that Will (Josh Charles) was accused of bribing. A blue ribbon panel uses these kinds of professionals and experts to give their recommendations to help with controversial cases, though they have no actual authority in these cases; just their opinions and findings. Alicia questions the actions of Mike and the two will clash throughout the episode.

In her personal life Alicia is continuing to try and buy her former house and with the bonus that she was given by Diane (Christine Baranski) this will certainly help. If you're wondering why Alicia does want to return to the house that encapsulates happiness and sadness then the flashbacks in tonight's episode might provide answers. If you're looking for a good number of reasons why Alicia shouldn't move back to Highland Park then check out this thorough list here.

It looks like Alicia might have a drinking buddy soon as things started to become friendlier between Alicia and Kalinda last week. That was after Alicia refused an offer of a beer from her former friend, but after a not so delightful conversation between Alicia and Tammy (Elizabeth Reaser), Alicia seemed to realize that maybe she does need a friend like Kalinda after all. The topic of the conversation between Alicia and Tammy was Will related and Tammy blames Alicia for how things ended with her and Will. This conversation about sex and loyalty could possibly have spurred Alicia to reconnect with Kalinda. Whatever Alicia's reasons this is an excellent development and one that will probably help how the pair work together, especially as Kalinda's IRS related case comes into focus tonight. We will also see the return of FBI Agent Lana Delaney (Jill Flint) who also happens to be a former love interest for Kalinda; will she be helping with this IRS problem?

One person who isn't having a terrific time at work is Cary (Matt Czuchry) as he has been demoted after he revealed to Peter (Chris Noth) that he had a relationship with colleague Dana (Monica Raymund). Cary did want to be given a suitable punishment and so he got his wish, but will he regret being so forthcoming now that he is back in his former position? There was a really lovely scene between Cary and Alicia last week that doesn't really have much to do with the overall plot but shows just how far these two former rivals have come.

Diane got to have some fun last week, setting up dates with former lover Kurt (Gary Cole) and new love interest Jack (Bryan Brown) and I only wish we could have seen the fishing date with Kurt just to see what Diane would wear. Unsurprisingly the battle for Will's seat at the firm continues and a named partner will be announced soon; will it be Julius (Michael Boatman), David Lee (Zach Grenier) or Eli (Alan Cumming)?

This looks set to be another fantastic episode of The Good Wife and Matthew Perry is set to play an interesting antagonist as Alicia has to deal with both professional and personal obstacles tonight. Are you looking forward to Perry playing a not-so-friendly guy?

The Good Wife: Martha Plimpton to Return as the Cunning Patti Nyholm

She has been a thorn in the side of Lockhart Gardner on more than one occasion (three times, to be exact) and whether she’s scheming behind closed doors or using her baby as a prop, there’s no doubt about it, Patti Nyholm (Martha Plimpton) is always a welcome addition to The Good Wife.

According to TVLine, Nyholm will be working alongside Louis Canning (Michael J Fox) on a case against Lockhart Gardner. Looking back on past appearances by Nyholm, all signs point to some kind of medical mishap with a class-action suit lurking in the wings. Of course, it’s all speculative at this point, but with a Nyholm/Canning alliance, there’s no doubt Alicia (Julianna Margulies) will be in for one of the toughest courtroom fights of her career, especially after recent events. Canning feels used by Alicia’s advances surrounding potential employment at his firm, and Nyholm generally has an air of snide bitterness. Is Alicia any match for this confident and cunning duo? For those of you thinking Lockhart Gardner’s track record is a little too perfect, this could be the episode for which you’ve been waiting.

The one thing we can always count on when Nyholm is around? Theatrics. There’s nothing she likes more than flaunting her “working motherhood” status or telling Alicia to get her boyfriend (read: Will Gardner) involved. Let’s not forget, however, Nyholm has the utmost respect for Lockhart Gardner, so much so, she hired them for a brief period in season two’s, “In Sickness.” Okay, she hired them for a third of the show, which amounted to about 12.5 minutes, but still. The best part about Nyholm’s return is that good things always happen to surrounding story lines when she’s around. In fact, we have her to thank for Will and Alicia’s first kiss in season one (flashback to “Heart” where Nyholm forced both Will and Alicia to do some personal soul searching). Could Nyholm’s return yield similarly gasp-worthy results in this year’s season finale of The Good Wife? Fingers crossed!

Now it’s your turn! Are you excited to see Patti Nyholm return to The Good Wife? What do you think could be in store with a Nyholm/Canning courtroom partnership?

The Good Wife airs on CBS, Sunday nights at 9 pm, EST.

Fox). After Canning got involved in a lawsuit involving a Lockhart Gardner client suing a snowmobile manufacturer, he once again offered Alicia a position. Desperate to secure more money so that she could afford to buy her old house, she approached Diane about the offer, asking if the firm could match it. While some of the other partners didn't want to single Alicia out for a raise, Diane used her managing partner authority to grant Alicia a bonus. Also, she and Kalinda have somewhat reconciled, with the understanding that their relationship cannot be what it once was, but needs to involve a rebuilding of trust.

Matthew Perry will be making a guest appearance in the March 25 episode of The Good Wife. In the episode, Alicia is assigned to work on a blue ribbon panel, which is investigating a police shooting. But some suspicious actions lead her to question the motivations behind the panel chairman's actions. Matthew Perry guest stars as Mike Kresteva, the panel chairman. Meanwhile, Kalinda's business interests receive some attention from the IRS.

Tonight on The Good Wife: Alicia Receives a Tempting Offer (Sneak Peek)

The opening of last week's preview for The Good Wife could easily apply again as Michael J. Fox returns tonight as antagonist Louis Canning and Alicia will be facing him in court once again. Fox isn't the only returning guest star as Will's ex-girlfriend Tammy (Elizabeth Reaser) and potential Diane (Christine Baranski) love interest Jack Copeland (Bryan Brown) are also featuring tonight.

The last time Canning appeared it marked a significant moment for Alicia this season; her daughter went missing (or rather she didn't, Alicia just feared she had) and Alicia broke things off with Will (Josh Charles). Canning offered Alicia a job, as he does whenever he crosses paths with her and tonight Canning will do the same, but will Alicia take this offer seriously considering her financial situation?

Last week Alicia found out that her comfortable living arrangement was about to be disrupted and so she began to seriously look at buying a new place; this even included an emotional trip back to their family home in Highland Park, a house that is now back on the market. As Alicia discovered in that tear inducing scene you can never really go home when there are moments of hurt and betrayal amidst happy memories. Alicia did approach Diane regarding this raise but the matter wasn't resolved; will Alicia use this offer from Canning as leverage? Will Diane give Alicia what she wants? Considering the Caitlin (Anna Camp) twist (that was completely unexpected and brilliant) in the last episode it would seem likely that Alicia will have an increased work load and Alicia already has more responsibility with Will's forced absence.

Will of course is still working in a limited capacity and figuring out exactly what he can and can't do all seems to be down to semantics and asking hypothetical questions. One of these conversations occurred between Will and Alicia in "Long Way Home" and it showed that these two may no longer be having a sexual relationship, but there is still a closeness and affection between them.

This could be challenged this week with Tammy's return who looks happy to see her ex, but also finds the time to confront Alicia who she blames for the ending of her relationship with Will. In this promo you will see that Alicia is less than happy with Tammy's appearance. Tammy's presence is thanks to this week's case as they are taking on professional hockey and sports are Tammy's area of expertise.

Diane's love life is a little less complicated; after all the stress with the firm and the male egos in the office that Diane has to contend with she definitely deserves some fun. Jack could be the right distraction, that's as long as he doesn't come to the office to serve any papers of course. Jack isn't Diane's only potential suitor and Gary Cole will be featuring as gun expert Kurt McVeigh; double the enjoyment for both Diane and viewers.

Cary (Matt Czuchry) is another character who has let his personal and professional life become entangled and he told Peter (Chris Noth) about his relationship with Dana (Monica Raymund) after another supervisor was punished for sleeping with co-worker. Peter was willing to let this slide but Cary insisted that he should punished too, this matter was left unresolved so will we find Cary hanging out with Will in a suspended lawyers club?

Are you looking forward to seeing Michael J. Fox again? Will Alicia take Canning's offer? How will Alicia react to Tammy's accusations? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.

The Good Wife: Series Renewal Means More Law, Love and Political Liaisons

Fans of The Good Wife can officially rejoice: the show has been renewed for a fourth season! For people who have followed The Good Wife for years, this news shouldn’t be surprising (though, admittedly, welcomed), but for those who strictly track ratings, this show can often be found “on the bubble.” Why? Your guess is as good as mine. The Good Wife has everything going for it, including an undeniable knack for drama, charm and wit, all rolled into a tidy package earmarked for endlessly enjoyable Sunday nights. Okay, that could be the only downfall of the show: Its Sunday night time slot often results in scheduling conflicts on the east coast, caused by everything from football to golf (seriously… golf? The only thing that could be worse would be being delayed by bowling… or billiards). While the delays can be frustrating, it hasn’t deterred diehard fans one bit.

I'll be honest: If I could only watch one hour of television a week, The Good Wife is the hour I would pick. Why? It’s smart, it’s witty and it challenges you to think beyond your own scope. More than that, it provides insightful commentary on social, political and world events, perhaps more so than any other show on television – network or cable. Did I mention the outstanding ensemble cast? With Julianna Margulies headlining the show, the smooth-talking Josh Charles isn’t far behind, and with the brilliant delivery and comedic timing of Christine Baranski bringing everything together, The Good Wife is, in my opinion, the smartest 60 minutes you’ll spend in front of the TV (and, if you’re anything like me, you’ll spend half of your time jumping, gasping, clapping and hyperventilating). If you’re looking for something relaxing – this show probably isn’t for you. If you’re looking for something exhilarating and brilliant, pull up a chair – you’re going to be here awhile.

With CBS having confirmed The Good Wife’s season four renewal, now we’re left to guess what kind of drama and intrigue will surface. The Good Wife's co-creators, Robert and Michelle King have shared some great insight into what we can look forward to in season four (click here to read more), but there's nothing like opening the conversation up to fans. Time for speculation? I think so.

Alicia Florrick (Julianna Margulies - Having quickly worked her way up the ladder, Alicia is on the path to partnership at Lockhart Gardner. Of course, she’s had offers from other firms, but are any of them good enough to pull her away from working with Diane and Will? With a handful of episodes left in season three, we’re left to wonder if her next big decisions are going to be made with an eye more closely linked to her finances. Early prediction: Season four Alicia is going to be a force to be reckoned with, personally and professionally. We’ll keep our fingers crossed that Alicia and Kalinda finally find a way to fully rebuild their friendship, too. Let there be tequila shots in their future!

Kalinda Sharma (Archie Panjabi) – With a tax file that’s shocking thick (well, she was working two jobs when she was at the State’s Attorney’s Office), all bets are off when it comes to what’s really inside. Season four is sure to explore Kalinda’s potential tax fraud surrounding her “unsubstantiated income.” This Pandora ’s Box of secrets will hopefully shine a light on her mysterious past, something fans of The Good Wife have been waiting for since season one. We know Kalinda doesn’t like mess, but could we be lucky enough to see some of her history bubble to the surface? If season three’s buildup is any indication, Kalinda could be in over her head next year. “Yet Another Ham Sandwich,” anyone?

Peter Florrick (Chris Noth) and Eli Gold (Alan Cumming) – A political campaign is on the horizon and while we know the writers can’t rehash season two again, we can expect to be in for a bumpy ride as Peter makes a play for the Governorship. We don’t know who his opponents will be, and we don’t know what skeletons will be uncovered on the campaign trail, but the thought of Eli ripping his hair out in the photocopy room once more is strangely alluring. Early prediction: The question of Peter’s potential racial bias is going to grow from a seed to a forest in the blink of an eye. The race card is just the kind of thing on which Wendy Scott-Carr would love to hang her hat…

Will Gardner (Josh Charles) – By the end of this season, Will should be back to work, but with Julius, David and Eli swarming like flies over the carcass of Will’s former “golden boy” caseload, his reputation is in desperate need of repair. It seems to me season four will be a year for Will to reflect and rebuild. With a desire to put the past behind him, it stands to reason he’ll be focusing on getting his career back on track, but hopefully that doesn’t mean he won’t indulge in a little extra curricular fun… maybe on the basketball court, or (fingers crossed!), maybe with Alicia. Okay, that’s pure speculation (and wishful thinking) on my part, but you never know what’s going to happen when those elevator doors open next…

Now it’s your turn. What are you most looking forward to now that The Good Wife’s fourth season has been confirmed? Let us know using the comments section below!

The Good Wife airs Sunday nights at 9:00pm EST on CBS.

Colin denied everything, but she was pursuing a lawsuit against him, so Alicia and Caitlin defended him in court. Along the way, Colin perjured himself about sexual relations with Isobel and the firm learned that he was the father of Isobel's son, although Isobel achieved that by using his sperm and a turkey baster. In the end, Colin surprised the firm by revealing that he and Isobel had come to their own arrangement and were going to re-take the company.

Alicia also confronted Caitlin about undercutting her in front of Diane and the other partners and now both she and Kalinda seem suspicious about Caitlin and her motivations. But Caitlin made a surprise move when she resigned from the firm and announced that she was pregnant and getting married.

In the March 18 episode of The Good Wife, Michael J. Fox returns as Louis Canning. Alicia faces off against Louis in a recent case when she and Julius represent a man who lost his wife in a snowmobile accident. They are attempting to prove that his former professional hockey career didn't impair his ability to drive the snowmobile. After considering her recent financial concerns, Alicia debates whether to accept his job offer. Diane also decides to take charge in her personal life. Bryan Brown returns as Jack Copeland and Gary Cole returns as Kurt McVeigh.

Tonight on The Good Wife: Colin Sweeney is Back! (Sneak Peek)

There are many words of praise that can be applied to The Good Wife and one area that continues to excel is the guest stars that this show casts. Some are just for one episode and others such as Michael J Fox have become recurring characters (Fox will be back next week) and tonight sees the return of the creepiest of them all; Colin Sweeney (Dylan Baker).

Sweeney appeared during the first half of this season and he managed to get an early release from prison. Now Sweeney is attempting to regain control of his company that he lost before he went to prison back in season 1. This being Sweeney things are never easy and he has managed to get himself into another predicament that will see him back in court and needing Alicia's (Julianna Margulies) help once again.

So what has Sweeney allegedly done this time? Sweeney is facing sexual misconduct charges as Homeland's Morena Baccarin is playing his accuser Isobel, a former employee who is claiming that Sweeney fathered her child. The problem here is that the two never had sex so how is he the father of her child? As we have seen before, Sweeney is what you could call 'experimental' in the bedroom department so anything is possible here. This isn't where the excellent guest stars end as Bebe Neuwirth is playing Judge Friend who is presiding over this case. Sweeney has an interesting way with people and it is likely that he will try and manipulate this judge to get a rise out of her. As you can see in this promo Alicia wants to withdraw from this case, something that Judge Friend will not allow. What is it that makes Alicia want off this Sweeney case (other than the obvious of course)?

Alicia isn't the only one having work issues this week as Cary (Matt Czuchry) is facing a moral dilemma at the SA office, as Peter (Chris Noth) tasks him with enforcing office policies. We saw last week how uncomfortable Cary was with having to effectively demote Geneva (Renee Elise Goldsberry) to make way for one of Peter's campaign supporters. This is the first sign that we've had since Peter took office that he is willing to bend the rules to benefit him politically. We have seen him behave in a slightly devious manner in how he handled the Will (Josh Charles) situation but that was definitely more for personal reasons than professional (not that it makes it any better really). How far will Peter go to get ahead? This is a simple 'you scratch my back, I'll scratch yours' situation, but it could be a slippery slope from here on.

Last week we saw the transition of how Lockhart Gardner looks without the Gardner aspect in play and as expected there were several people vying for Will's spot. Diane (Christine Baranski) handled this as best she could, but the persistence of David Lee (Zach Grenier), Julius (Michael Boatman) and Eli (Alan Cumming) is likely to continue even with Will showing an active interest.

One area that could prove problematic since this shake-up is from Caitlin (Anna Camp), who performed well enough to land a promotion that also means that Alicia will temporarily have to share her assistant with Caitlin. There is clearly a rivalry here that looks like it is stemming from Alicia's side, Alicia is not one to normally fall foul of jealous feelings but what is it about Caitlin that is provoking this reaction? Caitlin is David Lee's niece so this could be vital in terms of office politics; especially as Alicia clearly angered David Lee when she fired him as her divorce lawyer. Caitlin is also working on the Colin Sweeney case and she will almost certainly have to put up with some inappropriate comments from Sweeney and I'm sure he will love having her as part of his defense team. This definitely looks like a conflict stacked episode of The Good Wife.

Are you looking forward to the return of Colin Sweeney? How do you feel about Caitlin? Will Cary continue to do what Peter asks of him? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.

Will seemed to be enjoying his enforced vacation from the law, despite the fact that Diane and the others were busy picking up the slack back at the office. His sisters dropped by for a visit to cheer him up and try to help him with his love life. Back at Lockhart & Associates, there was a big power play for Will's former office and position. In the end, he decided to return to the office a bit to protect his business interests and advise on his former cases.

Eli was also trying to revive Peter's political career, but he ran into a roadblock when Peter's former friends were upset that Peter was no longer handing out favors. To that effect, Peter hired on a new ASA as a favor.

Colin Sweeney returns in the March 11 episode of The Good Wife. Alicia defends Colin when Isobel Swift (guest star Morena Baccarin), a former employee, claims that he fathered her son. This sexual misconduct case could throw off his plans to reclaim his company. Bebe Neuwirth will guest star as the judge in the case. Also, Cary has a moral dilemma when Peter tasks him with enforcing office policies.

Tonight on The Good Wife: Power Plays and Office Politics (Sneak Peek)

The Good Wife is certainly going to have a very different dynamic now that Lockhart Gardner is Lockhart & Associates after Will (Josh Charles) took a forced six-month absence from practising law. After successfully beating Wendy Scott-Carr (Anika Noni Rose) Will faced the Illinois State Bar Association who were investigating his past misdemeanor of having borrowed $45,000 from a clients account. To prevent Will's possible disbarment he decided that taking the six-month suspension was the most sensible plan of action and this leaves Diane (Christine Baranski) with a major power struggle at the firm. We have a sneak peek of how these changes are affecting both Will and Diane below.

As we have seen previously there are some very big egos in this office and they don't play well together. You will not be surprised to hear then that the equity partners who will be vying for power thanks to Will's absence are David Lee (Zach Grenier) and Julius Cain (Michael Boatman). Both appear to want more now that Will is out of the picture for six months and they will not want the other to get the upper hand. Diane is smart and we have seen her wrangle these headstrong men before, but this is a new scenario and Will is not there to help her enforce a sense of control. You can also bet that Eli (Alan Cumming) will also be joining in with this power struggle and this should provide some comedic moments amongst the chaos.

There is another power struggle taking place between Alicia (Julianna Margulies) and Caitlin (Anna Camp) as they have both been given more responsibility in the wake of Will's temporary departure. Kalinda (Archie Panjabi) doesn't think that Caitlin can be trusted and tells Alicia that she should watch out for her. Kalinda is a naturally suspicious person but she is also often right in her assumptions so what do you think Caitlin could be hiding? The case that Alicia and Caitlin are working on has them defending a documentary filmmaker who has been blamed for his student's suicide. They will be squaring up against the deliciously detestable Nancy Crozier (Mamie Gummer) who has proven to be a formidable opponent in the past and could be the perfect foil for Caitlin. Obviously Alicia will want to win the case but will she also use this opportunity to assert her authority?

One relationship that thankfully appears to be improving is between Alicia and Kalinda and this could be helped further by the case that Will handed over to Alicia in the last episode that is concerning Kalinda; what do you think this case is really about? Kalinda is also providing a sounding board for Will as he is now stuck at home and executive producer Robert King told TV Guide that "At strange times like this, Kalinda, as cold as she can be, has a certain warmth and affection toward Will that starts popping up again." The Will/Kalinda dynamic is a really intriguing one as there is nothing remotely romantic between the pair and is purely platonic on both sides. That doesn't mean that Alicia would react favorably to this friendship if she were to find out about it thanks to Kalinda's past betrayal, though Will certainly has a strong support system to get him through these six months.

Will also has two sisters who we will be meeting tonight; Merritt Wever (Nurse Jackie) is playing Will's younger sibling Aubrey who is a rebellious free spirited type and Nadia Dajani (The Big C) has the role of Will's older more responsible and controlling sister Sara. The pair wants to fix Will's life in the wake of this big work crisis and this means fixing his love life. Both sisters will be recurring characters and we can but hope that they will get to interact with the other sibling of the show and that is Alicia's brother Owen (Dallas Roberts). Will clearly has strong female influence in his life from his work colleagues to the women he clearly loves and this just adds another layer to his character. There is now a challenge for the writers to keep Will included in the show despite not being able to practice law and by exploring these previously unseen relationships it will certainly inject a fresh aspect into The Good Wife and with his character.

Also look out for Democratic political strategist Donna Brazile who will be playing herself again. Brazile last appeared in the episode "Marthas and Caitlins" to discuss Peter's (Chris Noth) campaign with Eli. Does this mean that the question of Alicia and Peter's marriage will be raised again?

The new conflicts that have been created since Will's temporary departure should spark some inspiring stories as all the characters struggle to assert themselves and try and use this moment to propel their careers. This is an unexpected turn from The Good Wife and proves once again that this show has the ability to surprise beyond being a simple law procedural.

What are your thoughts on Will's temporary departure? Do you trust Caitlin? Let us know in the comments section.

The Good Wife Preview: The Power Struggle Begins in Episode 3.16

This week's episode of The Good Wife delivered an unexpected surprise. Wendy Scott-Carr may not have succeeded in getting a grand jury indictment against Will, but by turning her evidence over to the Bar Association, she was an instrument in what happened to him. After their investigation, the Bar Association decided to present Will with a choice: either he agreed to a voluntary 6 month suspension or they would proceed with disbarment. Despite Diane suggesting that he fight tooth and nail, he decided to take the suspension. Now he's out at Lockhart/Gardner.

But the power struggle has just begun now that Will is temporarily out of the picture. The other partners are telling Diane that they want to take his old place (and his old office). But could Caitlin be the hungriest of them all? Kalinda certainly thinks she can't be trusted. Plus, we'll finally get to meet Will's sisters when Kalinda drops in to see him and meets the visiting women.

Peter wants to restart his political career so Eli organizes a meeting with Democratic Political Strategist Donna Brazile in hopes of securing a major speaking opportunity for Peter. But Peter will find that his "recent, well-intentioned actions have alienated some of his supporters".

Finally, Alicia and Caitlin will go up against Nancy Crozier in the next new episode of The Good Wife when they defend a documentary filmmaker who is accused of causing a student's suicide.

The Good Wife is currently on hiatus until March 4. Watch a promo for the next episode below and use the arrows above to browse through photos for the episode.

Not only are the ongoing story arcs (like the Will-Alicia-Peter relationship debacle and Wendy Scott-Carr’s pursuit of Will for fraud and bribery) top notch, but the individual cases of the week have also been very compelling.

Tonight’s new episode of The Good Wife, titled “Live from Damascus”, once again combines the story arc with an interesting case. At the end of it, you’re left with a genuine question about what will happen next, because when the dust settles, not everyone will be left standing.

Let’s begin with the Will storyline. Tonight’s episode picks up immediately where the last one left off. Wendy failed to get an indictment against Will, but told Peter she would turn the evidence over to the Bar Association so they could take their own disciplinary action against Will. Peter dismissed her after her failure in court, but told her to do what she needed to do with the Bar Association. That night, a party was in full swing at Lockhart-Gardner, celebrating Will’s recent success. This is where the action picks up.

First, two familiar faces return. Rita Wilson reprises her role as lawyer Viola Davis, representing her client Neil Gross, the owner of software company Chum Hum. Diane has summoned them to the office because of a case the firm is working on. Chum Hum is being sued because the company allegedly sold software to the Syrian government that allowed them to dig into private emails belonging to protestors. In turn, the government and the Syrian intelligence agency was able to identify, detain and torture several protestors. Including three American protestors, whose family members have come to Lockhart-Gardner to sue Chum Hum for their part in the situation. Naturally, Viola denies everything and suggests that Lockhart-Gardner is only doing this to further the interests of Patric Edelstein, who wants to disgrace his largest competitor: Chum Hum.

Jonathan Groff (most recently seen on Glee and Broadway) guest stars as Jimmy, the brother of one of the deceased protestors. The case continues in court, with Will taking the first chair position while Alicia and Caitlin back him up. It’s interesting to see how the case develops (including unexpected information from Viola), while Kalinda communicates with a friend and protestor back in Syria who is trying to obtain more information for her.

Meanwhile, three big developments happen with regards to ongoing story arcs. First, Cary announces that there will be a reshuffling in the State’s Attorney’s Office as a result of Wendy’s recent loss. Let’s just say that this news particularly impacts Dana. While not a lot of time is spent on this storyline, I suspect it will be important for the future.

Second, Eli reunites with his ex-wife, played by Parker Posey. He confronts Vanessa about hiring Stacey to consult on her campaign. When Vanessa insists that she did it because Eli turned her down, Eli is forced to make a choice about whether he’ll get back into the game and help Vanessa with her campaign.

Third, and most importantly, Wendy does turn her evidence over to the Bar Association. Will is warned by one of the disciplinary committee members that they will be pursuing action against him. But Will is given a choice that will impact his career in the long-term. His decision may leave you reeling.

Finally, we’re given a tidbit of information about a possible future storyline when Diane and Will ask Alicia to handle a case...for Kalinda. It turns out to be a tax related case. Unfortunately, not much information is given, but this could be something big.

As I mentioned previously, tonight’s episode is terrific at moving major storylines forward and giving us an interesting case to focus on. The Good Wife once again proves that it’s one of the better dramas on television these days.

Don’t miss an all new episode of The Good Wife at 9:00 p.m EST on CBS. Watch a sneak peek for the episode below, which features the Kalinda case discussion.

Tonight on The Good Wife: Is Will Going to Jail?

The Good Wife returns tonight for what could be this season's juiciest episode as Wendy Scott-Carr (Anika Noni Rose) presents her case against Will (Josh Charles) to the Grand Jury in "Another Ham Sandwich." This episode title may sound familiar as one of last season's most revealing outings was called "Ham Sandwich" and I'll explain the potential parallels between the two further down.

In the last outing "Bitcoin for Dummies" we saw Will preparing for this inevitable Grand Jury with his wonderful choice of representation Elsbeth Tascioni (Carrie Preston). Tascioni has clearly unnerved WSC and they managed to find out which three judges they suspect Will of bribing (for an excellent break down of which these judges are on the show head here). This gave them the chance to figure out which cases could be viewed as looking a bit suspect in terms of the verdict and giving Will the upper hand. Unfortunately for Will, WSC doesn't take losing the advantage well, especially as he has refused to play ball with her already (sports metaphor ahoy). This is where Dana (Monica Raymund) comes into play and she uses a certain document against Alicia (Julianna Margulies) to get Kalinda (Archie Panjabi) to deliver something damning. This all seems pretty clear cut as Kalinda does indeed deliver a file on the case that looks the most suspect to Dana, or is it?

Kalinda has always said that she has Will's back and the pair even had what could be considered a heart-to-heart regarding Will's very human fear of going to jail, and so it is hard to believe that she would betray Will in such a manner, even if Alicia is involved. Kalinda is creative enough to come up with a solution that would keep everyone out of trouble right? Or could you see Will facing a guilty verdict? The Will/Kalinda friendship is intriguing because they both have a hard time letting their guard down, but are unafraid of doing so with each other. Will's relationship with Diane is also a joy to watch, as despite any difference's the pair have had in the past they are in a place of mutual trust and respect. What about Will's relationship with Alicia and how they will handle being friends after such an intimate few months together? Executive producer Robert King told TVLine that this isn't going to be easy "I think the problem is the sex was so good between them it's hard to ignore. We're going to explore how difficult it is to deal with the absence of sex in the relationship."

This relationship is also going to get Alicia caught in the Grand Jury crosshairs if the promo for tonight's episode is anything to go by, as WSC asks Alicia "At any time have you and Will Gardner engaged in a sexual relationship?" This isn't just a chat in the hallway but appears to be under oath. Of course promos can offer distort what actually happens, but if anything is to go by Alicia refuses to ask this very personal question and leaves with a defiant "Arrest me." As you can see in the sneak peek below Alicia wants to help by using her connection to the State's Attorney, but as Peter (Chris Noth) is who assigned WSC is this going to be a dead end? If only Peter knew that he was the real target.

Alicia will be getting assistance from an unexpected ally and this is pure speculation, but Cary (Matt Czuchry) seems like the most likely candidate. The conversation that they had at the end of "Alienation of Affection" shows that there is no animosity between the pair, and the unsavoury methods used by Dana and WSC in this investigation against Will is likely to cause some friction.

So how does this episode relate season two's "Ham Sandwich?" In this episode of The Good Wife, Kalinda was indicted to appear in front of a Grand Jury which led to several big revelations. The first was that the indictment wasn't really about Kalinda at all, but was an investigation into the Lockhart Gardner. It was also the first time that we heard anything concrete about Will's shady past and Blake (Scott Porter) figured out that Kalinda had slept with Peter when she worked at the SA office. The whole Grand Jury set up is obviously key and this was also when we were told that a Chicago Grand Jury would "indict a ham sandwich' (this phrase originally comes from The Bonfire of the Vanities), making this big scary sounding thing sound less ferocious. Will, like Kalinda is not the main target but he still has to appear and testify thanks to his lack of co-operation and his past actions have put him in this vulnerable place.

One big difference is the friendship (or lack of) between Kalinda and Alicia. Last season Alicia represented her best friend in court and they had their usual tequila drinking session after a long hard day. This was cut short by a phone call from Blake who had finally figured out Kalinda's big secret that would set the wheels in motion for the end of season 2 with the ramifications being felt throughout this year. Is Alicia's Will secret going to be the one that comes out this week?

In terms of the Kalinda/Alicia situation can this Grand Jury bring them closer together? It would appear that Robert King might be hinting at this as he told TVLine that

"These are two people who probably have the biggest betrayal between them. Is it possible for them to come back from that? Other events will impact that. Because right now they’ve warmed up a bit. But they’re not there yet. But Alicia misses it, and Kalinda misses it, too."

It's not all high drama tonight though, as Amy Sedaris reprises her role of Stacie Hall and will further antagonize Eli (Alan Cumming) as they go after the same client. Hall will be tactically flirting with Eli to get what she wants, will he see through her methods this time? I am always happy to see Amy Sedaris and this plot will bring some much needed comedic relief amongst all the tension.

This episode certainly sounds like it will be edge-of-your-seat fare with Will facing jail time. I wouldn't put it past the writers to blindside us with Will losing, but hopefully Elsbeth Tascioni and all at Lockhart Gardner will be able to prevent this from happening.

Tonight on The Good Wife: Alicia and the Treasury Department Clash Once Again (Sneak Peek)

Season 3 of The Good Wife has seen the firm facing governmental opposition in both the cases that they have taken and on a personal level with the SA investigation into Will (Josh Charles). It would be wise than, for Lockhart Gardner to steer clear of representing a client who is being investigated by the government.

It would be wise yes, however the wise thing to do is not always the right thing to do and tonight's episode has Alicia (Julianna Margulies) defending a fellow lawyer Dylan Stack (guest star Jason Biggs), who refuses to reveal the identity of his client to the government. Stack's client is a mysterious computer programmer who has illegally invented a new online currency and the episode title "Bitcoin for Dummies" refers to a real online currency that launched in 2009 (for more on Bitcoin head here and here) that is free from any government control. This case also means that we will get to see the wonderful Bob Balaban reprising his role of Gordon Higgs; the Treasury Department official who Alicia had dealings with earlier this season. I have a feeling that Higgs will still be smarting over their last encounter and I don't see him offering Alicia any cupcakes this time around.

Carrie Preston returned last week as Elsbeth Tascioni and she is now working for Will as he faces judicial bribery accusations. Will hired Tascioni after Alicia's recommendation, who is now aware of this investigation (pesky speaker phone) but he didn't go into details so not to 'complicate things further.' Will has tried to protect Alicia from knowing about this all season, so it only makes sense for him to continue to do so and the manner in which the pair have conducted their work relationship since their break-up has been both mature and restrained. Hiring Tascioni seems like a good move on Will's part as she went to work straight away and forced Wendy Scott-Carr's (Anika Noni Rose) hand to indict Will before she was ready. It also meant that we got a terrific scene between the two women, which totally blindsided WSC; cracking that creepily cool exterior and once again showing why Carrie Preston deserves her own spin-off show (make it happen CBS).

One person who was barely in last week's episode was Cary (Matt Czuchry), but the impact his appearance had actually meant a great deal for the show and for Cary's relationship with Alicia. They are now at a place where they are no longer competing with each other and Cary seems truly happy with his job at the SA office; this can only mean that something will upset this harmony very soon and this case against Will is the likely source. Cary's loyalty doesn't seem to lie in one obvious place and I think he could be a very useful ally down the road for Lockhart Gardner and this scene was needed to show that he is at peace with this firm.

The Florrick children have both caused drama for their mother and tonight it looks like Zach (Graham Phillips) is taking the baton from Grace (Makenzie Vega) as the problematic one this week. Zach has mainly been IT support for Alicia and her firm this season, so it is good to see him getting a storyline that is a more personal one. Zach is going to use his girlfriend Nisa (Rachel Hilson) to pit his mother against his grandmother to get what he wants, by playing the race card. Is this little devious streak showing that he is his truly his father's son?

Kalinda (Archie Panjabi) and Alicia have definitely overcome the obstacle of working together/being in the same room and even though things remain frosty this is definitely a positive sign. Tonight's episode will see Kalinda trapped in a no-win situation, but is this related to the case that Alicia is working on or will it be with the SA office and specifically Dana (Monica Raymund) who is also working on the Will investigation? Regardless of what puts Kalinda in this position it could be another event that might soften Alicia to her former BFF and tequila drinking buddy.

The Good Wife Times Talks Panel Highlights

The Diane Lockhart (Christine Baranski) that we saw on last night's episode of The Good Wife is not how the character was originally intended, in fact she was originally meant to be "the mentor who tries to sabotage the mentee," with the mentee here being Alicia Florrick (Julianna Margulies). This is one topic that was discussed at the Times Talks panel for The Good Wife that was hosted on Friday night and featured Julianna Margulies, Christine Baranski, Josh Charles (Will Gardner) and creators Michelle and Robert King. The discussion is both very informative regarding the creative process of the show and hilarious in places as certain more intimate scenes are discussed.

Cable vs. Network

Michelle and Robert King are very aware that there are certain limitations to being a network show but also reveal that there are advantages to the position that they are in. The restrictions relate mainly to sex scenes as they don't really have many violent aspects on the show (maybe Kalinda and her baseball bat). With the sex scenes this allows them to get "more creative" and they specifically mention the Will/Alicia steamy moment from the season 3 opener. Not that they didn't have to tone this down as apparently Josh Charles was a tad enthusiastic with his lunges (or 'thrusts' as Julianna Margulies amusingly corrects Robert King).

The benefit of being on a network means that they are shooting as they are airing, whereas cable usually airs the episodes after they have shot almost the entire season. They are currently shooting episode 15 and last night episode 12 aired, which means they can cover current events which cable just can't do. Episode 15 has a story that is discussing the Syria conflict much in the same way that last season had an episode that referenced the uprising in Egypt around the time it was occurring. They can even add lines later on in the editing process through ADR to make the show even more topical. This also means they occasionally tweak storylines if the audience is anticipating what might happen too soon or if a spoiler is leaked.

The Will/Alicia Romantic Relationship

What are the repercussions of the ending of this relationship? Josh Charles thinks that it allows them to "go deeper" into both Will as a character and with his relationship with Diane and even with Alicia as "their friendship deepens and develops." Julianne Margulies gives fans of this pairing hope by adding "Who's to say it's over really?" The relationship obviously had a huge impact outside of just the two characters and Christine Baranski highlights this by discussing the larger ramifications of this pairing for the firm as they were "crossing a line." Julianna Margulies also reveals that one of her favourite scenes is from "Whiskey Tango Foxtrot" between Will and Diane when she tells him to stop the relationship as it shows both love and authority, without judgement from Diane.

The Importance of Diane Lockhart

As I mentioned at the start Diane is not the character that they originally intended her to be and from the pilot it looked like Diane would be giving Alicia a hard time for her choice to quit work and be a full-time mother. This is not the direction that this character has gone in thankfully and this was in part, down to the charisma of Baranski herself. It also means that for once a single woman over 50 is being portrayed on TV not as a cliché bitch or psycho trope but as a complex and multi-layered woman with many different attributes; it is one of the shows "triumphs". There has been a good response to this aspect, particularly from women and Baranski suggests that "television doesn't just reflect culture it can move culture forward."

The idea that really good roles for women exist mainly in television is something that was discussed during the Hollywood Reporters TV drama actresses roundtable and it gets reiterated here; the best roles for women over 40 are not on the big screen but are on television.

Neither Left nor Right

The show has covered complex world issues such as the season opener that looked at the Palestinian/Israel situation and the recent episode about the drone attacks. The trick in dealing with issues is to not end up earnest and Michelle King says this is "what they are always having to fight against." They try to go against the expectations of the audience from both a liberal and a conservative perspective.

Religion is another aspect that might have less to do with red or blue state reactions but after Alicia and Will had their first liaison they received a letter suggesting that the show should be called "The Good Slut" instead. There has been reaction from a certain portion of the audience that Alicia is at fault for her relationship with Will because she is still technically married to Peter and Margulies is still astounded when viewers tell her that Alicia should stay with Peter despite all of his indiscretions.

Alicia's Power in Silence

Julianna Margulies discusses Alicia's manner in dealing with personal conflicts and that this is a character that thinks before she speaks. Margulies is looking forward to what will happens as Alicia starts coming out of herself a bit more as the show progresses, but there is also "amazing amount of power in silence." This silence is what made her life so complicated in the first place, but it is also admirable. Margulies however hilariously demonstrates what you want Alicia to say about the whole Kalinda scenario to Will and Diane; "That slut Kalinda f***ed my husband and why the f*** do you want me doing a case with her?"

The panel also covers the move to Sunday night, the benefits of filming in New York, costume, legal issues with brand names and a whole lot more.
The firm's equity partners (including Eli) didn't want to pay for David's mistakes in the event that they lost the lawsuit. Later, Kalinda realized that a simple mistake by Alicia could have severely damaged their case. With the missing document later found, Alicia couldn't be certain that David didn't fabricate the document so they could get the case dismissed.

Meanwhile, Will continued to shop around for a lawyer to defend him in the upcoming State's Attorney's Office investigation. After going through a few duds, he hired Elsbeth Tascioni. He found her to be odd, but it's clear she's the best person for the job.

In the January 15 episode of The Good Wife, Alicia and the firm are hired by a lawyer who is arrested by the government for not revealing the name of an anonymous client. This client is a computer programmer who has apparently invested a new online currency. Jason Biggs guest stars as Alicia's client, Carrie Preston appears as Elsbeth Tascioni and Bob Balaban as Treasury Department representative Gordon Higgs.

Tonight on The Good Wife: A Familiar Face Returns as Will's New Lawyer

The Good Wife returns tonight after the brief winter break and it appears as if Lockhart Gardner is once again in jeopardy, but this time it is not because of Wendy Scott-Carr (Anika Noni Rose) and the State Department investigation. This isn't to say that this investigation is going away but that there is a new challenge for the firm and it looks like it could get ugly.

The case this week has a couple suing Lockhart Gardner for $44 million which could destroy the firm. The reason for this lawsuit is they believe that they were encouraged to get a divorce by Lockhart Gardner for financial gain. This means that we are likely to get a lot of angry David Lee (Zach Grenier) as it is his department that oversaw this divorce. The couple that are suing are being represented by Burl Preston (guest star F. Murray Abraham) who we last saw in the season 2 The Social Network inspired episode "Net Worth."

This timing of this lawsuit is pretty terrible (though I'm sure it would be unpleasant at any time) as Will (Josh Charles) is already under investigation for judicial bribery and this also would suggest more unethical financial dealings. Will refused to play Wendy Scott-Carr's long game that she revealed in the last episode; her target isn't Will but is actually Peter (Chris Noth). This refusal might cost Will as Wendy seems pretty determined to get what she wants all under the cover of justice. Luckily for Will and for us he has decided to hire a lawyer to fight this case and this lawyer is Elsbeth Tascioni (Carrie Preston). Preston is one of my favourite guest stars on this show and her appearance earlier this season in "Executive Order 13224" was both hilarious ("Look at all this paper") and proved once again that she is someone who knows how to win. This second part is what Will needs the most but it is the first part that I am looking forward to and to see Tascioni interact with Will. Another thing that will hopefully make for great viewing is the difference between Tascioni and Wendy Scott-Carr; Wendy seems so put together it is unnerving and Elsbeth seems like a scatterbrain (even though we know she's not).

One thing I seem to mention every week is whether Alicia (Julianna Margulies) will find out about the SA's investigation into Will and how she will react when she does, surely there will be no hiding it now that he has a lawyer? And not just any lawyer but one that has both represented Alicia and Peter in the past. The other big secret that Will is hiding now is Wendy's real agenda; what will he do with this incendiary piece of information? There are several people that he could share this with and strangely I think that smartest option would be to tell Eli (Alan Cumming) after they started a new whiskey alliance recently.

Another new drinking friendship that begun in the last episode was between Alicia and Diane (Christine Baranski) and I hope that we some development here too. Diane, I would imagine will be somewhat perturbed that two of the main male figures at the firm have put her livelihood in jeopardy, so this will be a good time for Alicia to please Diane and progress with her career.

The development that had a lot of Good Wife fans (myself very much included) feeling hopeful before the holiday was the thawing between Alicia and Kalinda (Archie Panjabi). No they aren't tequila drinking buddies yet but Alicia threatened Cary (Matt Czuchry) to get her former friend out of jail; ok she only threatened him with the law but that scene was pretty badass. Plus Alicia sat in a car with Kalinda and even spoke more than a couple of words to her which is definitely an improvement.

Are you happy to see that Will has hired Elsbeth Tascioni as his lawyer? What hopes do you have for The Good Wife in 2012? Let us know your thoughts in the comments. You can also watch a sneak peek for the episode below.

Tonight on The Good Wife: Kalinda Lands in Hot Water

Lockhart Gardner might have an 80% win rating but tonight on The Good Wife they receive a guilty verdict that surprises even the prosecution. This verdict doesn't stop Alicia (Julianna Margulies) from pursuing justice as she is vehement that her client is innocent, but this pursuit unfortunately lands Kalinda (Archie Panjabi) in a pair of handcuffs (and not the good kind).

Last week Alicia broke off her affair with Will (Josh Charles) just at the moment where it seemed like he was ready to commit completely to her. Their relationship this season has been a lot of Will trying to get closer to Alicia, with Alicia holding him at a distance and this break up was the result of how complicated things have become. The manner of their break despite happening in an extremely public space (damn those big windows) was relatively simple and with few words, a scene wasn't made showing how mature they both are. Will might be heartbroken but he clearly understands Alicia's motivation.

Alicia still doesn't know anything of the SA investigation into Will; when will she find out about this and how do you think she will react? Diane (Christine Baranski) incorrectly concluded that Will had been the one to end it all because of this investigation, and even if she doesn't know the truth it still is the best thing for him professionally and for his relationship with Diane. Also thanks to Diane, Will has a new ally in Eli (Alan Cumming) who would also suffer if this investigation damages the Lockhart Gardner reputation and Eli has a strong connection to Peter (Chris Noth) that he might be able to exploit.

It might be too late to try that avenue as Wendy Scott-Carr (Anika Noni Rose) seems hell bent on pulling out the big guns for this investigation and has even got investigator Andrew Wiley (Tim Guniee) on board. We have seen before how Wiley will not let an investigation go until he finds out the truth and when he didn't quit his pursuit of discovering who Leela was, he ended one very fine friendship at the core of the show.

Speaking of this friendship, we saw how frosty Alicia still is with Kalinda last week when Caitlin (Anna Camp) called for help. Kalinda also found the not so kidnapped Grace (Makenzie Vega) but didn't want Alicia knowing about her major role in finding Grace. It looks like Alicia will be returning the favour this week after Kalinda gets arrested for harassment of jurors and I can't be the only one to get excited by this promo when Alicia says to Cary (Matt Czuchry) "you bring Kalinda to me now." Will this be the start of the frosty relationship thawing? Or are we likely to see more of Will and Kalinda in their lonely hearts drinking club where they can now both pine over Alicia?

One name that I am happy to see on this week's cast list is Owen (Dallas Roberts) and this is the ideal time for him to make a visit as his sister is more than likely to need a friendly face. Owen in the past has been there to give Alicia the gentle nudge that she needed to assert herself; will he be doing the same tonight? Also appearing tonight is legal aid lawyer Justin Coyne (Romany Malco) who will be helping with the case that saw 9 'not guilty' verdicts being changed to 10 'guilty' in one round of voting; what happened in the jury room to change their minds?

Spoiler Alert In other exciting returning cast member news TV Guide has reported that Denis O'Hare will be reprising his role as Judge Abernathy in an episode that is slated for the end of January. In bigger guest star news TV Line has confirmed that Carrie Preston will be back as Elsbeth Tascioni, this time around she will be representing Will as he battles against the corruption charges that the SA office is levelling at him. I cannot wait to see what Tascioni will have to do to get Will out of this mess. End of Spoiler Alert

This is the last episode of The Good Wife before the break and it would seem that after last week's drama there is much more in store for tonight. If you could have a Good Wife holiday wish granted what would it be? To have Kalinda and Alicia as friends again? To stop Dana (Monica Raymund) trying to be all Kalinda on Kalinda? Or to have Will and Alicia reunite? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.

The Good Wife Promo: Fighting an Unjust Verdict in Episode 3.11

This week's episode of The Good Wife brought the return of Michael J. Fox as Louis Canning. When Alicia and her new associate, Caitlin, went to arbitration to get damages for their client - a professor who had been fired - they went up against the associate that Alicia wanted to hire instead of Caitlin. As it turns out, she was now working for Canning, and called him for help when her case started to go south.

Canning returned, butting heads with Alicia as both of them trying to sway the arbitrator to their client's side. Canning also continued to pester Alicia about accepting a job with his firm. Later, when Grace went missing, he helped Alicia as she tried to search for her daughter. Grace's disappearance for an hour resulted in two frightened parents, some police manpower being used by Peter, and got Kalinda on the case. She tracked down Grace to a church where she was getting baptized. Kalinda eventually brought Grace home, although she didn't want Alicia to know she had found her daughter.

Wendy Scott-Carr continued to pursue the investigation against Will and eventually Cary suggested they hire investigator Andrew Wiley to help. Later, Alicia ended up breaking up with Will and Diane agreed it was the right thing to do.

A new episode of The Good Wife will be airing on December 11. Alicia and Diane are shocked when one of their clients is found guilty after trial and believe something fishy went on in the jury room. But when Kalinda starts questioning jurors, Cary has her arrested.

Tonight on The Good Wife: Michael J Fox Returns as Alicia Faces a Personal Crisis (Sneak Peek)

Tonight's episode of The Good Wife not only sees the return of Michael J Fox's antagonist Louis Canning, but also features Dexter star Jennifer Carpenter and a family crisis for Alicia (Julianna Margulies). Throw in the warning that Diane (Christine Baranski) gave Will (Josh Charles) in the last episode and the State Attorney's investigation into Will continuing and it looks like this will be an emotionally charged night.

Oh Grace (Mackenzie Vega), she almost redeemed herself last week with how she responded to Jackie's (Mary Beth Peil) actions towards Alicia, but tonight she will be the center of attention for the wrong reasons. Grace is a character who falls into the annoying teen camp, which the writers seem to be unsure of how to use her as opposed to Zach (Graham Phillips) who seems to have more of a purpose on the show and now she has to go and get into a seemingly random car and go missing.

The thing that triggers Alicia's panic mode is the 12 attempts that Grace has tried to get hold of Alicia and now she isn't picking up her phone. Alicia does the smart thing and calls Peter (Chris Noth) who uses his position to get an early search going for his missing daughter. One person who might be useful in this is Kalinda (Archie Panjabi) and this would be a good time for Alicia to put her differences towards her former friend to one side to enlist her help. This event might open the door to reconciliation if Kalinda is there for Alicia in her time of need.

This is a complicated time for Alicia in her personal life; even though she is currently unaware of the investigation into Will and Diane's subsequent conversation with him over the matter this is something that Alicia is likely to learn of very soon. Is Will going to do the sensible thing in terms of business and end it as Diane told him to, or is he likely to take the gamble and lead with his heart? Whatever option he chooses there is likely to be heartbreak and ramifications for his actions. If a split is inevitable (which I hope it isn't) this might be the perfect time for Alicia and Kalinda to become friends again as a tequila drinking session might be required.

In terms of this week's case, guest star Jennifer Carpenter (who you will also be able to catch on Dexter tonight) is playing Pamela Raker, who believes that she was fired from her job for political reasons. The opposing council in this routine arbitration is Louis Canning who has caused problems for Lockhart Gardner in the past. Caitlin (Anna Camp) is Alicia's co-counsel on the case and this is made all the more awkward as Canning has employed Martha (Grace Rex), who was the unsuccessful candidate against Caitlin earlier in the season. Martha was Alicia's first choice and Alicia even informed Martha that she all but had the job; this experience is likely to influence Martha's performance against Caitlin that will add another layer of tension to the episode. In the sneak peek below you will see Canning and Alicia having a discussion about the pair of junior associates which is full of passive aggressive digs and pretend niceties.

Canning is not just there to antagonize Alicia but he will also be a surprise source of comfort when Alicia's family drama goes down. It also looks like Canning will be making Alicia a job offer; is this serious or just another manipulation to throw Alicia off her game? If it is a real offer will she be more inclined to consider it if the waters get frosty over at Lockhart Gardner regarding her relationship with Will?

This certainly sounds like an action packed episode of the The Good Wife and with just one more episode after tonight before the break for the holidays; the tension is building in both the personal and professional aspects of the plot.

Meanwhile, Eli and Diane testified in front of a government tribunal about the USDA food pyramid. Eli continued to represent the interest of their client, the cheese lobby, but had to face Stacie Hall, his new lobbyist rival.

Dana Lodge continued to grow closer to Kalinda, while secretly sleeping with Carey. Alicia also discovered that Jackie was snooping around her apartment and laptop and warned her children that she wanted to create more boundaries for Jackie.

Peter hired Wendy Scott-Carr to aid in the investigation of Will Gardner. Wendy isn't that anxious to go after Will just to get his drug-dealing client. She actually wants to take Will himself down. She met with Diane and told her that the State's Attorney was investigating Will for a gambling and bribery ring. Diane confronted Will about the investigation and said that it was ramping up, not winding down. She told him to stop sleeping with Alicia and warned him that Peter is clearly targeting him because of the affair. And even if he wasn't, Will is Alicia's boss and the whole situation is wrong.

The Good Wife is on hiatus next week, but a new episode will air on December 4. The tense situation of the episode centers around Alicia and Peter's daughter, Grace, going missing. Dexter's Jennifer Carpenter makes a guest appearance as Alicia's newest client. Michael J. Fox returns as Louis Canning, who comes up against Alicia in a routine arbitration that turns into a battle of wills. But when a personal crisis interrupts the arbitration, will Louis and Alicia find they have more in common than they thought?

Tonight on The Good Wife: The Investigation Into Will Intensifies

Tonight's episode of The Good Wife will be a challenging one for those at Lockhart Gardner as the State Attorney's investigation into Will (Josh Charles) steps up a gear exposing personal matters. Eli (Alan Cumming) is also up against it as a new rival shakes his confidence.

The episode title is "Whiskey Tango Foxtrot" which in true Good Wife form has more than one meaning. Of course it reads as 'WTF' which could easily be about the Will investigation, but it also has a military meaning and relates to this week's case. Will and Alicia (Julianna Margulies) are facing a difficult military judge who we last saw in "Double Jeopardy" from season 2. There was definitely a difference in style and opinion between Will and Judge Leora Kuhn (Linda Emond) when they last argued before her; is this going to be a repeat session? Lt. Terrence Hicks (Patrick Breen), the military lawyer that they worked with on that case will also be featuring in this episode. What do you think will bring them to military court again?

Alicia is currently unaware of Will's predicament, though he almost told her last week and tested the waters regarding how much Peter (Chris Noth) knows about their relationship. Alicia believes that Peter won't care about it, but considering how jealous Peter has been of her friendship with Will in the past she must be deluding herself if she thinks this is the case. Is Will going to tell her about what is going on or will she find out about it from someone else? Will's failure to disclose such a severe matter as this could make the case they're working on together more difficult and this might also be the deal breaker that could 'pause' their relationship. Josh Charles discussed Will's motives for not telling Alicia with Entertainment Weekly saying "He wants to believe that he can fight this battle, and he knows that it’s gonna complicate things at work and complicate things with their relationship."

Another person who believes that this relationship is going to have a negative impact is Diane (Christine Baranski). Diane was less than happy when she found out about their out of work activities and with the firm under threat she issues an ultimatum. It probably doesn't help that Wendy Scott-Carr (Anika Noni Rose) resurfaces with the news that she is leading the investigation and Diane concludes that it is motivated by Will's romantic entanglements. Will and Diane have previously clashed about personal and professional matters mixing, both about Alicia and ballistics expert Kurt McVeigh (guest star Gary Cole- can her come back please?) so this is not a new discussion for the pair. However now the firm's future is in jeopardy so Diane is likely to do anything to protect it, and this could even mean sacrificing Alicia. Will also said previously that if it came to it then he would side with the firm, is this going to prove to be the case tonight?

One person who could be an important force in helping this investigation go away is Kalinda (Archie Panjabi), who Will asked for help last week. If I was in trouble Kalinda would be the one I would turn to first as she really does have a special talent for finding the right kind of information, it's probably the sexy boots of justice that she's rocking. If Kalinda is the one to 'save' Will could this be the start of a reconciliation between her and Alicia? Kalinda of course has her own personal stuff going on and her relationship with Cary (Matt Czuchry) got even more complicated thanks to a post-hail of bullets kiss that ended with Cary walking away. There hasn't been a huge amount of Kalinda this season and hopefully there will be more mileage to come out of this undefined relationship between Cary and her. This season has also been missing the Kalinda/Alicia dynamic and whilst I don't expect them to be BFFs immediately a case that requires them to work together would be very much appreciated. Plus Alicia really needs some friends.

Someone who isn't making friends is Eli as tonight he will be taught a lesson by new rival Stacie Hall, played by the terrific Amy Sedaris. The Good Wife casting directors continue to bring really wonderful guest stars and I'm thoroughly looking forward to the sparring match between Eli and Stacie. Eli is often the most confident in the room and even though we have seen him personally vulnerable before it will be good to see him shaken in the business that he normally dominates.

Tonight on The Good Wife: Alicia Faces a Ticking Clock

The Good Wife has a few episodes a season where they are faced with a strict deadline and this week is one of those cases. This deadline involves getting a stay of execution for a convicted murderer who might have vital information that will stop another client from being found guilty. This is a complicated case and Alicia (Julianna Margulies) must put her conscience aside to be successful in this attempt. Warning light spoilers ahead.

Alicia is not the same lawyer/person that she was back in season one, and she has developed a barrier between what she sometimes has to do for a client and her conscience. This isn't to say that she will happily do anything to win, but it doesn't seem to be as hard for her to do certain things as it might have been in the past.

This case looks like it could turn dangerous for Kalinda (Archie Panjabi) and Cary (Matt Czuchry); when they are on what seems like a routine visit they end up facing a barrage of gunfire. Will this experience bring them back together as friends? This will get all the more complicated as Dana (Monica Raymund) is remaining at the State Attorney's office and is not playing by Kalinda's usual rules. When Kalinda asks Dana for some information that might help their case, Dana tries to use this as a bargaining chip to get information on Will (Josh Charles).

As you can see from the sneak peek below the information she wants is to do with Will's relationship to Judge Baxter (Tony Goldwyn) who we last saw in the season 1 episode "Lifeguard." Baxter had a gambling problem that led to his taking money for sending kids to juvenile detention but prior to this Will had lent him $100,000 to help with his debt; is this going to look like a bribe rather than a friend helping out another friend? Hopefully Kalinda is going to have Will's back as she has previously said that she would and can help him in this difficult scenario. Also is there a spark between Kalinda and Dana that will make this even more complicated or are they both just playing on their sexuality?

Eli (Alan Cumming), who was absent last week, will be facing a crisis as he tries to get ahead of a political scandal that involves ones of his clients. Is this client Peter (Chris Noth) who has provided much scandal in the past or someone else? A few weeks ago we met Eli's wife Vanessa (Parker Posey) for the first time and this week sees the return of his wonderfully snarky daughter Marissa (Sarah Steele).

One big consequence from last week is that Diane (Christine Baranski) is now more than aware of Alicia and Will's affair thanks to the always annoying "Mom, pick up the phone" ringtone (as is Kalinda who was also present at the time). Really Alicia if you're going off for some secret sex during work hours make sure you put your phone on vibrate. There was no confrontation about the matter but Diane is now being frosty toward Alicia; is she disappointed in her or is she just concerned about the firm's future?

Alicia knows that something is up with Will and they had this conversation at the inappropriate time of the sexually harassment video (which was so brilliantly cheesy in the tone and style). He of course didn't reveal the news about the SA investigation- maybe because the room was full of other people but also because this investigation could seem like retaliation from Peter about his personal situation (even if Peter is maintaining that this isn't the case and has recused himself). This will raise all kinds of questions for the pair and executive producer Michelle King told TV Guide that this week "they're faced with a moment of truth: 'We could theoretically make this our future.'" Is this going to be the moment that will make or break Alicia and Will?

Last season's episode "Nine Hours" saw a race against time to get a stay of execution and it was one of my favourites of the year and this episode looks like a creepier version, will it pack the same punch? Also look for Chris Matthews (Hardball) who will be appearing as himself on tonight's episode.

Check out the promo and sneak peek below for "Death Row Tip".
