The Good Wife: How Will the Season End?
A new episode of The Good Wife will be airing tonight and we'll finally get to see the fallout from Alicia learning the truth of Kalinda and Peter's affair. There's only three more episodes to the hit CBS show for the season (tonight included). Recently THR spoke with The Good Wife co-creators Robert and Michelle King, who spilled a few spoilers about the rest of the season and what's in store for next year. The show hasn't been officially renewed for season 3 yet. At this time, CBS is negotiating with the individual actors. Alan Cumming recently signed a three-year deal for the show, so it looks like the network is trying to get the actors to sign on for multiple seasons. Chances are very good that the show will be renewed, we're just waiting for confirmation.
Season-End Cliffhangers
The Good Wife fans shouldn't be concerned that we'll get a cliff-hanger like we did last season, which ended with Alicia poised to make a decision between staying with Peter or leaving her husband for Will. While Robert King said he didn't actually feel that was a cliffhanger (I respectfully disagree!), he says that the season 2 finale will be much less of a cliffhanger.
What's Next for Alan Cumming's Character, Eli Gold?
As we said, Cumming has signed on for three more seasons, so Eli Gold is not going anywhere. Now that Peter has been elected State's Attorney again, it looks like he and Eli will set their sights on winning a seat in Washington. But before that happens, Eli needs a job. King says that they're going to try to fit Eli in at Lockhart/Gardner to show what political strategists do between campaigns.
Future Relationships
We don't necessarily mean romantic ones. Apparently fans responded really well to Cary and Kalinda's relationship - sexual or otherwise. King said that is a relationship they'd like to explore further if they get renewed. In addition, they would like to bring in an apprentice to work under Alicia.
The Last Three Episodes of The Season
The last three episodes will each focus on a facet of Alicia's life. Tonight's episode will focus on her relationship with her husband, Peter. The May 10 episode will focus on her relationship with her best friend, Kalinda. The season finale on May 17 will focus on her relationship with Will. The reveal of Peter and Kalinda's affair will impact each of these three relationships.
