AMC Addresses The Killing Controversy: Seson 2 Will Reveal Who Killed Rosie Larsen

If you watched AMC’s The Killing, you probably heard about the backlash that started appearing through the season and peaked with the airing of the season 1 finale. Actually, if you watched The Killing you may also have been part of that backlash. The mysterious and promising pilot eventually gave way to a show that was criticized for tediousness and unnecessary plot twists. Then it committed what some felt was its biggest crime: it didn’t solve the show’s central mystery of who killed Rosie Larsen (which was the focus of basically every ad campaign for the show) and instead presented a finale of red herrings and no answers.

Today AMC made its Television Critics Association press tour presentation and had to address these concerns by critics in response to The Killing. AMC Vice President of Original Programming, Joel Stillerman, admitted that the network and the show could have “taken a different approach with respect to managing expectations with what was going to happen in the season.” He insists that the show never really meant to mislead people and only wanted to present a twist on the murder mystery genre.

The network seems to still fully back showrunner Veena Sud, despite the fact that people aren’t just upset about the failure to answer the series’ central question, but also the problems that plagued the first season as it went along. Now, that’s not to say the network isn’t talking to Sud behind the scenes about the feedback the show is getting. Obviously they’re not going to start bashing anyone in public.

But for those of you who are still fans of the show, you should know that AMC has assured viewers that Rosie Larsen’s killer will be revealed in season 2. ‘You will find out who killed Rosie Larsen in season two”, Stillerman promised. Although we’re not yet sure when in the second season those answers will be revealed.
