Last week on The New Normal, Bryan (Andrew Rannells) and David (Justin Bartha) tried, to no avail, to prove to Jane, a.k.a. Nana (Ellen Barkin) and themselves that they were not hypocritical in their views and that they did, indeed, have a diverse group of friends by throwing a party.
During the party, in which Bryan paid an African American waiter to act like his friend, Jane managed to offend most everyone, as usual, including her own daughter Goldie (Georgia King), when she goaded Bryan and David into making their pregnancy announcement in order to foil Goldie’s plan to go on a date with Rocky’s (NeNe Leakes) brother. Goldie’s immediate retreat from the party and hideout in a diner to eat (gasp!) French fries, enlightens both the men that they may be trying to control their surrogate a bit too much, leaving them to promise to let her eat at least some of the junk food she has been craving.
Tonight on The New Normal, David’s mother shows up and is ecstatic about the news of the baby to be, but less than thrilled about her son’s choice of life partner. In the meantime, Jane finally lets loose a little when she starts to see an older man, who enlightens her to some of the “finer things” in life.
The New Normal airs Tuesdays at 9:30/ 8:30c on NBC.
