The Newsroom Sneak Peek: Is Will the Target of a Conspiracy?
Last week's episode of The Newsroom celebrated the jubilation that occured when the world learned that Bin Laden had finally been killed. It was, for me, one of the stronger episodes of the show to date (except for the relationship drama, which is so unnecessary). Tonight's episode returns to a recurring thread for the season: Leona Lewis' vendetta against Will.
"News Night refuses to lead with a pair of sensational stories, which causes ratings to plummet - and forces Will (Jeff Daniels) and Mac (Emily Mortimer) to abandon their principles in order to lure viewers back and shore up the network's bid to land a Republican debate. Will auditions an unlikely scribe, Brian Brenner (Paul Schneider), to write an all-access profile; Sloan (Olivia Munn) chafes over her lack of air time to report on a critical financial crisis; Charlie learns the identity of an NSA whistleblower; Neal (Dev Patel) pitches an internet sting."
Jane Fonda returns as Leona Lewis and seems determined to have Will fired at all costs. And it looks like she's engaging in some very questionable phone-tapping and secret-gathering. Do we have another News of the World scandal on our hands?
Watch a preview and sneak peek below for tonight's all new episode of The Newsroom, airing at 10:00 p.m. ET/PT on HBO.
