Ghost Hunters Meet The Real Housewives of Atlanta Live Blog!!!!

Tonight marks the premiere for one of the most odd crossovers to ever grace our TV screens as Bravo’s Real Housewives of Atlanta (Sheree Whitfield, Kim Zolciak, and NeNe Leakes) make their way over to SyFy’s Ghost Hunters to help them in “ghostbusting” this week’s case in a house in Atlanta. The house in question, Rhodes Hall, is a staple of Atlanta history and is located on the city’s world renowned Peachtree St. The place claims to had a few ghost sightings at its Gothic like structure, which makes it investigative fodder for the Ghost Hunters team. Despite the history of Rhodes Hall, the only scary scenario going on here is the thought of NBC Universal’s brainstorming meeting to bring these two franchises together. While I’m personally no fan of Ghost Hunters myself (the recent South Park spoof of the show hits it dead on the nail why), I would be lying through my teeth if I didn’t want to see what Sheree, NeNe, and Kim got themselves into when they signed up for the guest spots.

And the only way to do that is to live blog about it.

So tonight, I will be hosting yet another live blog to laugh with you on the inevitable hilarity that will ensue. Don’t worry about getting scared, except if Kim wants to bust out a tune for one of the ghosts.

Now that will be truly frightening…. For the ghosts that is.

Check back to this page tonight for the live event and keep refreshing this page as I give more thoughts on a scene by scene basis. Also follow @TVOvermind and @theanticritic on Twitter for even more hilarious insights into the episode!!!

8:01 – So The Real Housewives of Atlanta wanted to be a part of a Ghost Hunters case? Insert your eye roll here.

8:04 – Despite all these ‘alleged’ ghostly encounters, I’m still a firm believer that if a ghost wants to be seen, they will do it in abundance.

8:08 – And they have arrived! While NeNe and Sheree have on gym shoes, Kim decides to come in heels, which is a code that she might not do much of anything. The funniest thing is the TAPS team are constantly insinuating that the women are clearly not up to the task.

8:10 – NeNe just announced to the ghosts that they are there to see what type of fashions the ghost were wearing at the time of their deaths. I kid you not.

8:13 – The RHOA ladies got their “Did you hear/see that?!?!” lines down pat. See, Grant and Jason? And you guys thought this would be a disaster… SMH.

8:19 – Jason, that wasn’t a cough you heard, man. It was America sighing in disbelief at this mess.

8:22 – Is it just me? Or am I not hearing one damn thing in this house?

8:24 – Wow, seven hours into the investigation and they still haven’t spotted anything. I wonder how much NeNe, Sheree, and Kim were compensated for their time and how can I collect as well.

8: 25 – Now the TAPS ladies are slapping themselves after asking the ghosts to speak. And yet they are still sitting there.

8:27 – Guys, these are not the TSA security checkers and they have no desire to touch you.

8:29 – Silence is the most noise I’ve heard on this show all night. Have the TAPS team ever had anything happen to them?

8:32 – How does a satin dress sound? I’m dying to know. Seriously.

8:37 – Just when I was about to give Steve and Dave props for using common sense on the mirror bit, they quickly begin to feel things touching them out the blue. Oy vey.

8:40 – Wow, no sign of Sheree, NeNe, or Kim for almost 20 minutes. Oh wait, here they go…

8:45 – My mom just told me that the noise they just heard was the air conditioner clicking on. The most plausible explanation all night.

8:46 – The TAPS team are relieved the ATL Housewives didn’t act a fool, but the Housewives look bored as hell.

8:50 – The Analysis. Not the one with the ghosts, but one for this crossover. It seems as if both parties, Ghost Hunters and the RHOA, did not want any part of this union. While the ATL ladies were troopers throughout the investigation, the TAPS team was pretty vocal about their “worries” of their guests’ inclusion. I know from previous interviews and articles that Jason and Grant take their profession pretty seriously, but I wonder if they know that most of America kind of puts them into the same mold as the Real Housewives franchise. NBC Universal saw an opportunity in throwing these two franchises together and they took it. Was it a good risk? Not really. Fans of both shows were against the pairing since it was announced, especially the Ghost Hunters fans who were very vocal in various forums to the point of starting petitions against the airing of the episode. While I personally didn’t see any harm in the pairing, it still didn’t wow me in either way.

The TAPS team should just be thankful they didn’t get the Real Housewives of New Jersey as guests… Oh, boy.

What did you guys think?
