With the next few comments that I’m about to make about Camille Grammer, there might be a smorgasbord of disagreements fired my way. While its okay to disagree, I just ask to keep it civil and clean.
Now with that said, despite the crap Camille did this season, she did not deserve that 4x4 of a blind side from Kelsey. Yea. I said it.
While Camille probably had karma heading toward her in some shape, way, or form, I don’t consider her dissolving marriage included in that package. The bad press from her behavior on the show was punishment enough, but when it comes to the subject of her and Kelsey? She was played like a fiddle in the middle of Central Park. Simply put.
Think about it. Camille didn’t want to do the show at first, Kelsey suggested she did it. The casting for RHOBH could’ve been the excuse he needed to keep Camille in L.A, opening up more time for him to fool around in NYC. While that may be speculative, it is also be a plausible explanation that can’t be ignored when you look at the big picture. Or at least what both parties and the media have put on the table to be pieced together.
Another thing to look at is the rumors of Camille leaving the show. Most reporters and fans think she wants to leave due to her being unhappy with the ways she’s been ‘portrayed” on the show, which is rational at best. However, it would also be cogent for Camille to think of the show as Kelsey’s tool to weasel out of their marriage. In other words, why go back to something that you think had a hand in destroying your marriage and embarrassing you in front of millions? Whether Camille wants to leave due to ‘editing’ or her marriage fallout, either way would make sense at this point. Now, whether or not she will actually quit is another thing; and if she will even be asked back to the show is in a whole other ballpark, especially after tonight’s Watch What Happens Live.
Now with that all out on the table, tonight’s episode of the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills did not live up to the hype of Grammer-gate. You would think that with all of the press leading up to this episode, it would have been chocked filled with enough Grammer drama to keep us talking for days. Alas, it wasn’t. Not even the grenade dropping phone call made it to air, which is sad, because I was banking on seeing that play out.
Instead, the episode dealt mostly with Lisa trying to wean Cedric from her and Ken’s wealthy teets by flying off on his own and Kyle’s eldest daughter graduating college. While those two stories entertained me in their own way, the show did not live up to all the appearances Camille made this week on various talk and news shows and pertaining to her breakup with Kelsey. In the short time we did get with her, Camille was mostly a zombie going through the motions by keeping up appearances, no matter how much they tended to hurt. Although, her daughter’s dance instructor managed to push the mood close to Lifetime Movie Network proportions by screaming during class, “Keep smiling even though it hurts!” The most stoic person wouldn’t be able to help but probably take a snicker or two at that anvil of irony.
Camille’s appearance on Watch What Happens Live was very revealing in itself. She actually shocked me with her answers to the questions that flew her way tonight. When asked why didn’t Allison DuBois (alleged psychic extraordinaire) reveal her impending divorce to her, Camille actually admitted (or claimed) that Allison was possible reading her future instead of Kyle's. While most people probably won’t believe anything else that comes out of Camille’s mouth, they can’t deny her owning up to that glaring hole in logic, which had people doubting DuBois's talents.. She could’ve made some lame-brained excuse up, but luckily she didn’t. On the other hand, anything else that came out of her mouth tonight was suspect to some extent. Plus, it really seemed as if Andy Cohen was having a snarky field day with Camille after her complaints about the show’s editing. If one thing is for sure, never talk about the editing of a Bravo show and think Cohen won’t come at you about it in the most subtle way possible. Hopefully any other (future) Bravolebrities will learn to not make this faux pas again.
So next week is the finale, which will go out in a bang it seems with the Hilton sisters going at it again. This time we might actually get a physical catfight out of the two, but I won’t get my hopes up on that happening. It would be nice if it did, though. Just putting that out there.
So what did you guys think about Camille after tonight? Does your initial opinion stick? Or do you feel some sort of sympathy for her now?
