Looks like Teresa Giudice (The Real Housewives of New Jersey) has started a trend: another Real Housewife has decided to file bankruptcy as well - but she is far from broke. Sonja Morgan of The Real Housewives of New York City has filed for bankruptcy protection – specifically Chapter 11, which essentially asks the court to dismiss all of her outstanding debts.
Morgan blames her contentious divorce from hubby John Adams Morgan as the reason for the Bankruptcy filing, and has listed $19.8 million dollars worth of debt and only $13.5 million in liquid assets in her petition.
In addition to her bitter divorce, Morgan’s film production company, Sonja Productions, was successfully sued by Hannibal Pictures for apparently botching a production deal for a film that would star John Travolta titled Fast Flash to Bang Time. That lawsuit resulted in a $7 million dollar judgment against Morgan, who has appealed claiming inadequate representation.
Don’t worry about Sonja though, things are looking up. Even though the Real Housewives of New York City star is barely scrapping by on an income of around $26k a month, including support, she says that she expects her income will improve as new opportunities develop. So don’t put the collection jars out just yet.
