The River: Season 1 Trailer Released
If so, ABC's upcoming supernatural/horror series The River may be just for you, judging from a recently released trailer. The River brings us to the heart of the Amazon, where famed nature show host Emmet Cole had been missing (and presumed dead) for six months. Once his emergency beacon goes off, though, his family and crew make the trek back down to his last location on the off chance that he may be alive. However, what they find there is a force more powerful (and terrifying) than anyone could have imagined and the goal soon goes from rescuing Emmet to self-preservation.
The trailer for The River is full of shaky cam, tense silences, and an increasingly fractured group of Dr. Cole's loved ones trying to make it out of the jungle alive. The show may be set in a truly gorgeous location in the world, all lush greens and warm water, but behind the beauty is a sense of evil. It's almost a territorial kind of evil that is lurking on the abandoned boat, as the crew is dealing with loud noises, physical attacks, and a growing sense of dread the longer they stay there. Can they manage to combat whatever's out there, find Emmet, and make it back home in one piece? Or will The River prove to be too much and claim its next victims?
From executive producers Steven Spielberg and Paranormal Activity director Oren Peli, The River stars Bruce Greenwood as Emmet Cole, Joe Anderson as his son Lincoln, and Paul Blackthorne as Emmet's ex-producer Clark, with Leslie Hope, Eloise Mumford, and Paulina Gaitan among the other members of the cast. Paranormal Activity's Katie Featherston will be appearing in multiple episodes, as well.
The River premieres with a special two hour episode on Tuesday, February 7th at 9:00 on ABC.
