The Secret Circle Casting News: Brit Robertson to Star in Pilot

News about The Secret Circle continues to come at a steady pace. The new pilot (produced by Warner Bros. television and The CW) is probably one of the most promising pilots for The CW for next fall. It’s also based on a book by The Vampire Diaries author L.J. Smith and it was recently announced that The Vampire Diaries co-showrunner, Kevin Williamson, would be an executive producer of the new show and help write the pilot. Seeing as The Vampire Diaries is currently the most popular show on The CW, this kind of news bodes well for the possibility of The Secret Circle ending up with a spot on the network’s fall schedule.

Today, EW announced that Brit Robertson has been cast to in The Secret Circle pilot. CW fans will recognize Brit as the star of the show Life Unexpected (LUX). LUX recently finished up its second season on The CW, but there’s no word on whether it will be renewed. The network has refrained from making a formal decision, but LUX was one of the lowest rated shows on the network, so its chances for renewal is not looking good. If Williamson and his team bring their winning Vampire Diaries formula to The Secret Circle, then it’s more than likely that show would be picked up and LUX will be officially canceled, leaving Robertson free to continue to appear in the new show.
