In tonight's season finale of The Simpsons, Lady Gaga lends her voice to play herself.

Here is what's in store for tonight's episode: "Lisa tries to reverse her status as one of the least popular girls in school by ghostwriting positive things about herself on the school blog. When her plan backfires, her social ranking plummets to a new low – until a psychic force tells Lady Gaga (guest-starring as herself) that Lisa needs her help. With Gaga’s assistance, Lisa and the entire town of Springfield realize that being yourself is better than being like anyone else."

Tonight on The Simpsons: Lady Gaga Guest Stars

The Simpsons' opening sequence has long been a changing feature for the show.  In fact, in the recent 500th episode, the opening was a compilation of all previous openings over the history of the show (as you can imagine, this took a while).

In this week's most recent episode of The Simpsons, the show decided to pay homage to another series: Game of Thrones.  The Game of Thrones opening credits have long been praised and feature cool visuals set against a memorable score.  But did The Simpsons do justice to the memorable opening scene of the hit HBO show?

They absolutely did.  Featuring rising buildings and such Springfield locations as Evergreen Terrace, Springfield Gorge and Burns Landing, The Simpsons presented a worthy opening sequence.  They even had the couch fill in for The Wall.

The Simpsons Does an Awesome Game of Thrones Opening Sequence

The Simpsons is reaching a milestone tonight that so few shows have ever reached.  After 23 seasons, the show is hitting its 500th episode.

Tonight's episode, titled "At Long Last Leave", finds the Simpsons hiding out in their bomb shelter during a town emergency drill.  But when they decide to take advance of the empty town, they discover that the drill was actually just a ruse and they come across a town meeting.

What are the residents of Springfield discussing without the Simpsons?  A way to drive them out of town.  Naturally, the family is upset when they learn about this and Marge even tries to appeal to the residents to let them stay.  Unfortunately, the town is tired of paying for the damage from Homer's shenanigans and Bart's crazy antics.  Despite Marge's pleas, the family is expelled from Springfield.  Fortunately, they come across an off-the-grid community called The Outlands.  Marge gets homesick so Homer tries to sneak her back into Springfield, but when they're greeted by harsh words from their former neighbours, they realize that maybe The Outlands is a better home for them.

The Simpsons Sneak Peeks: The 500th Episode Airs Tonight!

One of the stars of The Social Network - Armie Hammer - will be making a guest voice appearance on tonight's all new episode of The Simpsons.  And he'll be playing (who else?) his characters from The Social Network: the Winklevoss Twins.

Here's the Fox description for tonight's episode of The Simpsons: "As the mastermind and creator of the online social networking phenomenon SpringFace, Lisa is called to trial when Springfield's obsession with the site becomes chaotic and dysfunctional.  Lisa recounts her story and explains that she created the site after realizing she had no real friends. But as SpringFace expands and Springfield's fixation with the site causes mass hysteria, Lisa begins to realize that adding thousands of friends online did not compare to having real friendships. Later, Patty and Selma compete against the Winklevoss Twins (guest star Armie Hammer) in the rowing event at the 2012 Olympic Games."

Tonight on The Simpsons: The Social Network Parody (Sneak Peek)

In tonight's episode of The Simpsons, entitled "The Food Wife", Marge, Bart and Lisa become professional foodies.  The episode begins with Homer taking Bart and Lisa to a video game convention as a reward for good behavior.  The kids have an amazing time, but Marge is understandably upset by how much Bart and Lisa consider Homer to be the "fun parent".  So she decides to take them for a Saturday excursion, which ends up being horrible.

On their way home, however, their car breaks down in the middle of an ethnic district of Springfield and they pop into an Ethiopian restaurant.  While they're hesitant at first, Bart, Marge and Lisa end up loving the local cuisine.  A meeting with some foodies in the restaurant lead the trio to start up their own food blog called “The Three Mouthketeers".  Their blog becomes so popular that they end up scoring an invitation to one of Springfield's most exclusive modern scientific restaurants.  But what happens when Homer is upset about being excluded from all the fun activities?  Will Marge's dream with celebrity foodies and chefs Anthony Bourdain, Gordon Ramsay, and Mario Batali (guest voicing as themselves) convince her to invite Homer along?

The Simpsons Sneak Peeks: Marge, Bart & Lisa Become Foodies Tonight

Glee's Jane Lynch makes a move to Springfield in tonight's all new episode of The Simpsons.

The Simpsons children are pitted against each other after the school science fair.  Bart builds a mechanical baby seal, which impresses everyone, especially when Lisa only puts together a nerdy asteroid model.  Bart's mechanical pet is also a bit his at the retirement home and all the patrons want one.

Homer gets a new assistant at the nuclear power plant, a woman named Roz (guest voice Jane Lynch).  Roz is very enthusiastic and eager and soon pushes Homer out of his own job.  After losing his job, Homer realizes that Roz has an evil past, so he teams up with Flanders to take her down and reveal the truth about her.

Tonight on The Simpsons: Jane Lynch Makes a Guest Appearance (Sneak Peek)

Last season of The Simpsons ended with the writers asking fans whether they think Ned and Edna should continue with their relationship.  Fans have voted all month on this budding relationship and the outcome will be revealed in the season premiere.

Meanwhile, Kiefer Sutherland (24) and Tom Colicchio (Top Chef) will both be making guest voice appearances on the premiere of The Simpsons.  In the episode, Sutherland will play Wayne, a security guard who has been recently hired at the nuclear power plant.  Homer befriends Wayne, but Homer is soon kidnapped by Ukrainian terrorists.  Wayne, who sufferings from tortured nightmares as a result of his time as a CIA agent, has to overcome his personal struggles in order to help Homer.  Marge, meanwhile, dreams about being a contestant on Top Chef, and host Tom Colicchio will stop by to give her some advice.

The Simpsons Preview: First Look at the Season Premiere (Plus, Animation Domination Returns)

Bryan Cranston will be making a guest appearance in an upcoming episode of FOX's animated comedy The Simpsons. Cranston, the star of AMC's Breaking Bad, will appear in the second half of The Simpsons' upcoming 23rd season, in an episode titled "The Spy Who Learned Me."

Cranston will play the elaborately named Stradivarius Cane, a "suave Hollywood superspy," according to Entertainment Weekly. Only there's a twist: Cane is only a hallucination of Homer's, caused by Springfield's resident idiot receiving a head injury. Cane reportedly will have "a very important mission: to make Homer into a man that Marge can’t resist."

Breaking Bad, which stars Cranston as the morally dubious crystal meth manufacturer Walter White, will air its next episode, "Cornered," August 21 on AMC. It was recently renewed for a fifth and final season.

The Simpsons will premiere its 23rd season on September 25, with its season premiere guest starring former 24 star Keifer Sutherland as an unemployed Jack Bauer type. The season will also include contributions from Doctor Who scribe Neil Gaiman, Glee actress Jane Lynch, and television chef Gordon Ramsey. Showtime's Dexter will also be parodied sometime in the season. "The Spy Who Learned Me" will air sometime in early 2012.

Breaking Bad Star to Guest on The Simpsons

A brand new episode of The Simpsons will be airing on Fox tonight at 8:00 p.m. ET and actor Paul Rudd and basketball star Kareem Abdul-Jabbar will both be lending their voices to the episode.

In tonight's episode, Homer humiliates Bart during a family outing to a stadium, so Marge tells him to enroll in a parenting class that's lead by Dr. Zander (voiced by Paul Rudd).  When it's revealed that Homer strangles Bart for misbehaving, Dr. Zander brings in Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (as himself) to strangle Homer and show him what it's like.  Of course, that "therapy" turns Homer into a pushover, which leads to Bart taking advantage of him and turning into the school bully.  So Marge brings Bart to Dr. Zander, hoping that he can then cure her son.

The Simpsons Sneak Peek: Paul Rudd & Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Guest Star Tonight

The voices of both Ricky Gervais and Russell Brand will appear on tonight's new episode of The Simpsons, as will Halle Berry's.  Remember when Bart drew the comic strip "Angry Dad"?  That's going to get turned into a movie in this episode.  Below are several clips from the episode rolled into one video.  Here's a summary about the episode:

Bart’s cartoon about an angry dad is turned into “Angry Dad: The Movie” and quickly becomes a critics’ favorite. When Russell Brand (guest-voicing as himself) presents the Golden Globe to Bart’s film, Homer usurps the podium and gives his own acceptance speech. The film’s winning streak continues with Homer taking credit at each ceremony, so when “Angry Dad” receives an Oscar nomination, Bart keeps it a secret.

With the help of DJ Kwanzaa (guest voice Smoove), Homer and Marge arrive at the ceremony just as Halle Berry (guest-voicing as herself) presents the award. Bart’s fellow nominee, Nick Park (guest-voicing as himself), helps him realize that creating a film is a team effort, and Bart gives credit where credit is due in the all-new “Angry Dad: The Movie” episode of THE SIMPSONS airing Sunday, Feb. 20 (8:00-8:30 PM ET/PT) on FOX. The Simpsons Sneak Peeks: Jon Hamm Guest Stars

While it's certainly deteriorated from the glory days of old, The Simpsons is still good -- and still able to make news. Earlier this year, Banksy's altered opening credits made news for depicting sweatshops making Simpsons merchandise , and recently, The Simpsons aimed for a slightly friendlier jab: FOX News. Of course, that's incensed some of the conservative network's pundits, such as Bill O'Reilly.

In the show, a helicopter bearing the slogan "Fox News: Not Racist But #1 With Racists" was depicted as becoming, according to the pilot, "unbalanced," and subsequently crashing. The "unbalanced" jibe is obviously a reference to the network's slogan of "Fair and Balanced News," which many criticize for being completely obselete due to the network's heavy right lean.

So what did O'Reilly think of the joke? Well, predictably, he didn't think it was too funny. He even criticized the Simpsons network FOX (a sister channel of FOX News), for "continuing to bite the hand that feeds part of it, Fox Broadcasting once again allows its cartoon characters to run wild... Pinheads? I believe so." Obviously, O'Reilly believes that his channel is receiving enough support.

The Simpsons, which was just renewed for a twenty-third season, aired the joke as part of its episode "The Fool Monty," which premiered on Sunday.

O'Reilly closed the short segment with the quip "Pinheads? I believe so."

Bill O'Reilly: The Simpsons Are Pinheads for FOX News Joke

Glee is the big thing at FOX now, but it isn't the greatest musical television series ever. No, that honor goes to the delightfully quirky Flight of the Conchords, HBO's single funniest show ever. Conchords, which ended its two-season run last year, starred Bret McKenzie and Jemaine Clement as two hapless New Zealanders trying to become musical successes in New York. Their antics were always accompanied by one or two absolutely hilarious songs an episode. The half-hour comedy was the absolute best musical series on television, and makes Glee simply pale in comparison.

Luckily, it's not a competition. Instead, the two shows will be working in tandem, even though McKenzie and Clement chose to end their series. Glee and Flight of the Conchords will be meeting in the season 22 premiere of The Simpsons for a very special musical episode titled "Elementary School Musical" -- a pun that isn't too hard to figure out.

Glee is a FOX property, and the Simpsons episode is naturally being heralded as Glee-themed. Glee stars Lea Michele, Cory Monteith and Amber Riley will be providing voice work for the premiere, which centers on a Lisa being sent to a "performing arts camp." The camp's counselors will be voiced by McKenzie and Clement. Clement recently co-starred in the Paul Rudd/Steve Carrell film Dinner for Schmucks.

Other Simpsons guest stars this season? Hugh Laurie (House), Daniel Radcliffe, Mark Zuckerberg, Halle Berry, Ricky Gervais (Extras), Paul Rudd, Rachel Weisz, Cheech & Chong, Jon Hamm (Mad Men), Kristen Wiig, Alyson Hannigan, Danica Patrick, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Joe Mantegna.

Is it just me, or do I smell The Simpsons becoming relevant again?

The episode is set to premiere on Sunday, September 26 on FOX. I might just be setting my DVR to catch this episode.

'Flight of the Conchords' + 'Glee' = 'The Simpsons' September 26 Episode

Contest - Win a Simpsons Season 20 Blu-ray!

Christmas will be coming early for the ladies of Wisteria Lane -- December 6 -- but along with it will be a surprise from a special visitor: Homer Simpson. Okay, so maybe the big yellow buffoon won't be coming to Desperate Housewives in his animated form, but Dan Castellaneta, who voices Homer, will be making a rather large crash on the show. Pun very, very much intended.

I say that because Castellaneta will be playing the role of an airplane pilot who crashes his small plane into Christmas trees. And kills people. "The accident will be caused by a series of mishaps involving Dan’s character and his shrewish wife, played by Caroline Aaron," TV Guide reports. Sounds like typical Housewives fare.

While I'm not sure there's much of a crossover appeal between the two shows (they appeal to entirely different demographics), those who find themselves in the middle of the Venn diagram might get a kick out of Castellaneta's appearance, and the probable thousands of poorly veiled Simpsons references that will most likely ensue.
