Universal Studios is undergoing some big changes, and of the most prominent is that they’re devoting a huge amount of resources to bringing the town of Springfield to life, home of The Simpsons. It’s sort of amazing that it’s taken this long realize the theme park appeal of America’s favorite cartoon family, but now through a trip to Florida, you can experience Springfield for yourself.
As part of Fast Food Boulevard, they’ve taken a whole bunch of locations from the show and built them in real life. There’s Moe’s Tavern, Krusty Burger, the Frying Dutchman and Cletus’s Chicken Shack. Moe’s is probably the most worthwhile, and you can check out their attached video about the establishment below.
It’s the grand opening of the place, complete with larger than life Simpson’s characters inside rather terrifying suits. Though I suppose it’s less terrifying that painting someone yellow and having them walk around.
One thing I haven’t been able to figure out is if Moe’s Tavern actually has a liquor license or not. Give the family friendly nature of the area, it may be the case that you’ll have to settle for a nice cold ROOT beer instead of a Duff, but I can’t seem to verify it either way yet.
The expansion is also coming with a new ride, “Kang & Kodos’ Twirl ‘n’ Hurl.” For those of you who don’t remember Kang and Kodos are the frequently seen aliens on the show. Probably not best to go on after drinking a few Duffs.
