It’s pretty exciting that Guillermo Del Toro is bringing his monster expertise to TV, and even more so that the show he’s working on, The Strain, is on FX, the cable channel with probably the deepest stable of quality shows at present. Above we have the first teaser for the show, though if you don’t know what it’s about, it’s probably going to look more like a teaser for Heroes. Here’s a synopsis:
“A plane lands at John F. Kennedy International Airport with lights off and doors sealed. Epidemiologist Dr. Ephraim Goodweather (Stoll) and his team are sent to investigate. On board they find two hundred corpses and four survivors. The situation deteriorates when the bodies begin disappearing from morgues. Goodweather and a small group of helpers find themselves battling to protect not only their own loved ones, but the entire city, from an ancient threat to humanity.”
It’s based on a popular book series and that “ancient threat to humanity” is what else, vampires! Yes, we probably have enough of those running around between our TV shows and our movies, but given the source material, the network and the creative talent involve, I’m certainly looking forward to it, and you should be too. Watch the trailer above.
