What To Look For
It's officially "The Year of the 'Kat'" here at TVOvermind as we are looking forward to the apparent rampage Katherine will bring to Mystic Falls and the Salvatore brothers. Let's see what we have in store. Potential spoilers!!!!
Kat Attack - Katherine is back and she is not taking any prisoners, in love or war. According to an interview with E! Online, Ian Somerhalder revealed that Katherine isn't back for Damon, but she's back for Stefan! Will this push Damon closer to Elena in retaliation? Also expect more backstory on Katherine, her other reasons for returning, and what the hell she's been doing since escaping the tomb, another mystery that co-creator Kevin Williamson promises will be explored.
Full Moon Rising - Tyler Lockwood will learn his birthright and it involves investing in a fund to replace shredded clothing, shedding kit, and tendencies to go running through the woods during the full moon. Tyler is a werewolf and the "Lockwood Curse" will feature prominently this season after Mason Lockwood (Taylor Kinney) comes to town to serve as a mentor to Tyler on how to contain the "inner beast". But will Mason's intentions be good? Or bad? Plus, Damon is none too thrilled with Mason's appearance in town, which means that Damon has one more Lockwood to worry about. How will this conflict go down? We are eager to find out!
Did He or Didn't He?!!? - We will find out the results of Jeremy's "suicide" attempt in the season premiere, but will he be alive or undead? Most reports are playing coy, but a recent nugget from E!'s Kristin Dos Santos says that one of the humans on the show WILL become a vampire in the second season. Is it Jeremy? Not so fast, Kristen says. "Don’t start thinking you have it all figured out, smarty pants! It’s gonna be pretty fantastic." Consider my mind blown...
So those are the main things to look for next week and beyond. Are you thrilled?
The Vampire Diaries will return next week, September 9th, @ 8/7c on The CW.

Thanks for the recap, this show is awesome. It would be hard to continue the same level of suspense and cleverly scripted moments as the last season.
I think that Williamson and Plec will have us at the edge of our seats again. The characters and the direction of Marcos is just pure genius. I have complete and utter faith in them.
