Sneak Peek: The Vampire Diaries 2.18 "The Last Dance"

Some very exciting things happened on last night's return episode of The Vampire Diaries. If you missed it, read Emma's review here. Chief among the surprises were Isobel's suicide, her double-cross of Katherine (and Katherine now being captured) and Klaus' possession of Alaric's body.

The citizens of Mystic Falls will be learning about Alaric's possession very soon. In the next new episode, in fact, airing on April 14. Elena first becomes aware that Klaus is circling her and the town when a classmate mentions that he wants to discuss the upcoming 1960s high school dance with her. So Damon and Alaric agree to act as chaperones, only to have it revealed that Alaric is, in fact, the very thing they're trying to protect Elena from. This leads to some very tense - and explosive - confrontations between Klaus/Alaric and our resident witch, Bonnie, who revealed to Jeremy that she's willing to die in order to protect Elena and her friends from the danger that Klaus represents.

The other shock from last night was the double-cross by Matt, who revealed to Sherriff Forbes that Caroline had been turned into a vampire, and also pretended to allow Caroline to wipe his memories of the knowledge. What will the Sherriff and Matt do about Caroline?

View an awesome trailer and a sneak peek for the upcoming April 14 episode from The CW below. You can also view photos from the April 14 episode here, as well as photos from the April 21 episode here (which features the debut of Klaus, played by Joseph Morgan).
