The Vampire Diaries Preview: Can Jeremy Escape Klaus' Control?

Rebekah returned and took Elena, Caroline and Stefan hostage in the school library in this week's Vampire Diaries.  She compelled them to tell her the truth about the search for the cure and then decided to play with their emotions by forcing Elena to tell the truth about her feelings for Stefan (answer: she's not in love with him any longer).  Later, Elena called Damon and told him that she loved him.  He promised to get the cure for her, but also asked her to come see him immediately.

She also had Kol (yes, he's back too) kidnap Shane to question him about the cure and he revealed that he doesn't want the cure, he only wants to awaken Silas, the first immortal.  Kol and Rebekah are obviously terrified of Shane's plan and Kol drove a rebar through his torso.  But unknown to the vampires (for now), he didn't die.  Later, Rebekah told Stefan that she wanted to find the cure so she could punish Klaus by making him mortal and he told her that Shane wasn't dead.  Now the two of them are sharing information and teaming up to find the cure.

In next week's episode, Jeremy is tired of playing by Klaus' rules when it comes to becoming a hunter and Elena tries to broker a deal with Klaus about how to handle Jeremy.  Sheriff Forbes and Mayor Hopkins question Shane about the deaths of the Founders' Council at April's urging and Bonnie decides to dig deeper about Shane's involvement as well.
