The Vampire Diaries Preview: Obstacles to the Cure

Down the Rabbit HoleShane led an expedition of supernatural people (a witch, vampires and a hunter) to an island off the coast of Nova Scotia in this week’s episode of The Vampire Diaries.  When Damon confronted Shane about his plans, he revealed that he had put this entire plan in motion to help resurrect his wife and son and had received instructions in a vision from his dead wife, who just so happened to be a witch.  But the group soon splintered up after hurt feelings and some of Shane’s mysterious allies interfered.  Now Shane has the tombstone, Jeremy and Bonnie and plans to find Silas’ grave.  Damon is off on his own, trying to fight one of The Five, while Stefan, Rebekah and Elena have made a shaky alliance.

Back in Mystic Falls, Klaus was still trapped in Bonnie’s spell in the Gilbert house.  After some taunting by Tyler, Klaus managed to bite and poison Caroline.  As she lay dying she appealed to his human nature and he saved her life.

In next week’s episode, Damon continues to fight the hunter Vaughn.  The CW warns that “a stunning new piece of information about the cure is suddenly revealed, [that] changes the stakes for everyone.”  Back in Mystic Falls, Caroline and Tyler try to translate the code on the Hunter’s Sword, but they soon realize they’ll need to turn to Klaus for help.
