It was a true Original Family reunion in this week's episode of The Vampire Diaries. After Klaus was thrown off-guard by the fact that Damon had undaggered Elijah, he asked his brother to help him destroy the Salvatores so they could be a family again. But it looks like Damon undaggered Elijah so that the two of them could team up to take Klaus down. Damon and Salvatore argued about whether they should trust Elijah. In the end, Klaus nearly burned Stefan and Damon agreed to bring him the coffin. But all Elijah did was undagger his two other brothers and Rebekah, reuniting the entire family.
Sheriff Forbes came by the Gilbert house to tell Alaric and Elena some disturbing news: that Elena's fingerprints were the only ones on the weapon that killed the Medical Examiner. At first, she suspected that Stefan may have been responsible. At the hospital, Caroline's father was killed with vampire blood in his system, but didn't want to complete the transition to become a vampire. Despite Caroline begging him not to leave her, he chose not to drink blood and died. Later, Alaric was stabbed in much the same way and Elena was forced to kill him in a supernatural manner so that he could come back to life.
Stefan brought Bonnie and her mother down to the caves (containing the Original drawings) where he had hid the final coffin, hoping they could figure out a way to open it. They seem to have unknowingly succeeded and the mysterious coffin-dweller popped out. Who was it? Why, it was none other than Klaus's mother. She joined Klaus and her children at the newly renovated mansion and the whole family (minus Mikael) was together again, although all of his siblings wanted to leave Klaus by himself. But his mother said that she forgave him and wanted them to be a family again.
A new episode of The Vampire Diaries will be airing on February 9. The Original Family decides to hold a fancy ball and it looks like the whole town decides to attend, decked out in their finest. Even Caroline and Matt get surprise invitations. But will Caroline grow closer to Klaus?
