The Vampire Diaries to Return in January 2010
After episode 1.10 aired last night my cousin called me to gush about Stefan's abs (ok, that was actually me), speculate on who Elena hit with the car (she's convinced it's Damon, but I think it's someone else) and inform me that the show wouldn't be returning until next year. "The hell you say, Diana!" I shouted back at her, until I realized that she was right.
The Vampire Diaries (one of my favorite new shows this year) has ended 2009 with a bang and will be on hiatus until January 14, 2010. BOO! BOO-URNS!
So you will have to wait to see episode 11 until January (Merry Fricken Christmas, CW!), but you can catch an all-week Vampire Diaries marathon beginning on December 14 (click here for more details).
Until that time, let's speculate on who the car crash victim is. Diana suggests that Elena hit Damon and that now he might kidnap her or they'll go on a road trip somewhere because she's very angry with Stefan and might turn to Damon. I don't believe it was Damon, but I could be wrong. It's obviously someone supernatural, so what about Alaric? We don't know what he is yet. We don't know if he's really a vampire or a slayer (as some have speculated). What if it's Tyler? I think he's a werewolf, but I'm not sure how their mythology will work on this show and whether they can be killed with a car crash or just put their bones back together. Or could it be someone new? It's all very mysterious and we won't find out until January. Share your thoughts below.

I don’t think it’s Daemon, why would he be standing there in the middle of the road? Tyler was getting a ride home… And I was actually of the firm belief that Alaric was a vampire, up until now. Hahaha It could be a new character…
Anybody else was reminded of ‘I am Legend’ when the car crash victim just snapped its bones right back into place and got up?? Freaky stuff.

I’m actually believing that it may be the person who turned Logan, i mean why not?! Using Elena to get to Stefan, who tries to stop them from opening the vault underneath the old church. Makes sense. I really don’t want to wait until January, that’s too long!

I agree with you. I was under the impression that logan knew he turned him and that this new vampire had a way to resurrect katherine and the other vamps under the church. What if this new way to resurrect the vamps under the church has something to do with sacrificing elena. I can only imagine what’s gonna happen. I’m not sure if the tv series is going totally by the book cuz from what i’ve read on earlier episodes, things seem to be deviating from the book so i guess anything can happen. January 14th is too long to wait.

Well for everyone who thinks it’s a werewolf I think your completely wrong unless they aren’t going to stick with the books at all then there are no werewolf in the 2 book of vampire diaries. Also vampire diaries came out long before twilight the books came out in 1992.

i dont think its alaric. if u look at the person right befor elena hit it its wearing a hood. alaric has a leather jacket the only character wearing a hood in the whole show is elena’s little brother. which i doubt its him

I think it’s someone new. Think about…. Damon and Stefan both asked Logan who “turned” him, into a vampire. And he never said. It isn’t Alaric the teacher, because he’s the one who killed Logan.
So it has to be a new vampire in town and i don’t know how the hell i am going to be able to wait until january to find out!

I think it could be either Tyler, Katherine, Stefan coming 2 apoligize to Elena about what happened, Damon trying to kidnap Elena so she could never see Stefan again. I reckon its Damon because when the sheriff mistakenly thanked him for killing Logan, he was in the woods. Soon Elena left Stefan’s house and she went driving home on a misty road near the woods so Damon could’ve been there and got hit by her car.
And also, that car seen was so freaky! And it would be cool if Tyler were a werewolf.

The books are so different from the show, though. I’ve read all of them, and like the show much better. The show does not stick to the book 100%. But, it is true that in the books Damon was the one who fed Elena his blood and turned her into a vamp… Oops… did I spoil it for all of you?
