If you watch the show The Writer’s Room, you get some really interesting insight into what goes on behind-the-scenes on some of your favorite shows. On the recent episode they did with the Walking Dead writers, we learned something pretty insane about how the fate of this show could have played out. Essentially, NBC loved the idea of The Walking Dead, but they wanted it without zombies. Odd, I know.
So Kirkman and the rest of his people decided that NBC was not the best place for their zombie show. They took The Walking Dead over to AMC, and the rest is history. Well, not so much. Even then, Kirkman pitched that the zombie invasion was all part of an alien invasion that would be revealed at the end of the show, and that is how he sold it. So even in selling his show, he had to lie a bit to get it on the air. I am still praying the Walking Dead does not end that way. Man, that would be an awful way to end that show.
Oh, and the craziest part about NBC is, believe it or not, they got what they wanted. It is a show called Revolution. Think about it. It is the same as Walking Dead, but with no walkers. Wow, I just blew my own mind putting those pieces together.
