The Walking Dead Season 2 Casting News: Welcome the Greene Family

Last week it was announced that actor Pruitt Taylor Vince had been cast as Otis for The Walking Dead's upcoming second season (read more here). Now TV Guide is reporting that two other characters have been cast for season 2.

Rick Grimes and the other survivors will encounter the Greene family early next season. The Greenes are a farming family that have been 'ravaged by zombies'according to TV Guide. Scott Wilson (Monster, Junebug and In Cold Blood) has been cast as Hershel Greene. The Walking Dead's executive producer Gale Anne Hurd said 'He is the patriarch of the family. He's a veterinarian with a great sense of humanity and a very unique take on the Walkers.'Greene will have to suffer a great deal of pain because not all of his family members will survive.

However, one of Hershel's children who did survive the zombie plague is Maggie. She'll be played by Lauren Cohan (Chuck, The Vampire Diaries and Supernatural), who is no stranger to dealing with undead creatures. Hurd says Maggie may end up as a romance interest for Glenn. Otis will be working as the Greene family's ranch hand.

Season 2 of The Walking Dead will return to AMC late in October.
