The Walking Dead is the latest of AMC's fantastic television offerings, and as you might can tell, I'm absolutely loving it. The series, which focuses on a group of survivors of a zombie apocalypse, has been consistently good for the first half of its freshman season. But that's only been three episodes; three more episodes and we'll be done with the first season. December 5 is the last episode of The Walking Dead that we have set in stone.
Of course, there are thirteen more episodes ordered, but those will comprise the show's second season. The first season's already wrapped, in the can, finished. So how long will we have to wait after episode six to get to season two?
About ten months, sources are saying.
Digital Spy is reporting that "the second season of The Walking Dead will not launch until October of next year." That's a long, long time. If you thought the break between seasons of LOST was excruciating, this should be really, really painful.
"The Hollywood Reporter now claims that the new season will not air until late October, in order to make room for new seasons of Mad Men, Breaking Bad and freshman drama The Killing," Digital Spy continues. Of course, Breaking Bad will also be experiencing a delay, and won't start up its fourth season until July. After December 5, AMC's gonna have a programming loll (should have kept Rubicon, AMC!). Another AMC series, Hell on Wheels, is expected to premiere sometime next year, and may end up serving as the companion series to The Walking Dead with a neighboring time slot.
The Walking Dead will continue its first season on Sunday with the episode "Vatos" at 10/9c.

I loooovvve the series! I love zombies and the drama in this! It's like LOST just with zombies and minus the polar bears and other confusing stuff!
Can't wait for part 2 love it.
Loved season one season 2 in around a really close corner and I can explain why but the way things are I feel as though a zombie apocalypse in going to happen in 2012 so, Sean Rummell I feel you will have your chance at being a zombie.
