CW Orders More Episodes of Supernatural, Nikita, Gossip Girl & 90210
If you're a TV watcher you probably know all about the midseason blues. Shows like Supernatural will go into reruns over the holidays and into the new year, then late winter and early spring are plagued with even more reruns.
The CW is attempting to help combat the rerun season by ordering additional episodes of four of its shows. Supernatural and Nikita have both gotten orders for one additional episode each, bringing the total to 23 episodes for the season. The network has also ordered two additional episodes each for Gossip Girl and 90210, bringing the total to 24 episodes for the season.
If you're a Supernatural fan, you shouldn't be shocked to hear that that show will air 23 episodes for season 7 because this news was actually rumored over the summer. Some fans thought it was an indication that the show would be ending next season, but with the news that The CW will be ordering additional episodes for four of its shows, I think it's clear that the move is just to help extend the seasons overall.
One Tree Hill will still have a half season and will premiere midseason. New shows like The Secret Circle, Ringer and Hart of Dixie will presumably have a normal 22 episode run, since no additional episodes have been announced. The Vampire Diaries will also have a standard 22 episodes as the show involves a considerable amount of post-production work and won't be able to meet the demands of additional episodes.

Oh heck yeah, Supernatural with one more episode, sweettt
Woo hoo for More SN! But why are SN and Nikita only getting one episode, but the others are getting two?
I think Supernatural and Nikkita fans skew a little older and less impatient so I guess they figure 1 will do.
So happy about more Supernatural.
