Treme Renewed by HBO for Season 3
ABC and CBS may be in the spotlight today with their pick-ups, renewals, and cancellations, but HBO isn't going to one to be left out, as they renewed David Simon's Treme for a third season according to Deadline. The show recently kicked off its second season, taking place fourteen months after Hurricane Katrina, this time airing after the much buzzed about Game of Thrones. The show's second season finale will be airing this July.
Treme debuted last April and took a look at New Orleans post-Katrina through the eyes of its citizens. It has a pretty remarkable cast with the likes of Wendell Pierce, Khandi Alexander, and Oscar winner Melissa Leo, allowing the show to focus more on ambiance and characters than plot. Treme is also noted for its extensive use of music, most notably brass bands, going as far as casting multiple musicians in key roles for the series.
Treme isn't a ratings giant, having fallen about 50% from its series premiere last year to its season premiere this year, but it's critically adored with a passionate fanbase and is the type of series that HBO prides itself on having. Treme was created by David Simon, the man responsible for what many consider to be the greatest show ever made in The Wire, and Eric Overmeyer, a writer and producer with credits including The Wire, Law & Order, and Homicide: Life on the Street.

Treme is the best show ever - the characters have such depth and the music is terrific. Enjoy seeing places in New Orleans we've been and learning about new ones. Wish each show were longer! Congratulations on producing such a quality show.
Thank you HBO, for having another series of treme to air in July. This is the best show I have watched in a long time. It is real, and it touches you. All of the chcaracters are alive. The scenes are well written and well acted. You have to remind yourself it is only TV. But then IT"S Not just TV, its HBO. Its not just TREME, its all of New Orleans, and everything that comes together to make The city so very beloved.
There must be other cities that this effect on people, but I dont know which cities they are.
