Treme Season 3 Trailer

tremeNo one would fault the characters on Treme for giving up. After surviving one of the most devastating natural disasters in American history, they’ve each had to rebuild their lives on unsteady ground. With a bureaucracy that’s proven to be more inept over time and fundamentally cracked personal and professional lives, they have a lot of obstacles standing between them and any sense of normalcy, which, until recently, has been more of a pipe dream that an inevitability.

But the New Orleans ground has slowly been firming up around Antoine, LaDonna, Albert, and the rest of the group of survivors that we’ve followed for two seasons. And with the gradual stability has come a renewed sense of hope and resiliency, as evidenced by the trailer for season three of Treme. They’ve made it through the worst part – they have their lives, they have their homes, and they have businesses that, if they haven’t already picked up, should be in for a boost once movement and mood in the city pick up.

Although things are getting better, they’re definitely not close to becoming “good” for any of the New Orleans residents. Crime has yet to die down after the storm and with that comes an added pressure on a stretched-thin police force and a community that is still pulling itself together following the tragedy. The lifeblood of the city, its vibrant culture, may not be ready to return to its full bloom quite yet, but the city of New Orleans is only getting warmed up. And when its ready to sing, you better believe it’ll be the finest tune in all the land.

The third season of Treme premieres Sunday, September 23rd at 10:00 on HBO following Boardwalk Empire, which will bow the week before at 9:00. You can check out an additional teaser for the show’s return here, which will conclude a 14-month hiatus.
