The third season of True Blood premiered just over a week ago, but it did so to strong ratings for the show. Despite a somewhat weaker second season, which, in my opinion, focused too heavily on the maenad storyline and dragged on a bit too long, the audience returned in droves for the third season premiere. Personally, I don't think they were disappointed.
This has prompted HBO to renew the hit series for a forth season, which will presumably begin airing in summer of 2011.
According to Ausiello, the HBO president and the show's creator were both very enthusiastic about the renewal:
“The new season of True Blood is off to a terrific start, as enthusiasm for this unique show continues to build among both subscribers and critics,” enthused HBO president Michael Lombardo in a statement. “We’re looking forward to more chills from Alan Ball and his gifted team next year.”
Added exec producer Alan Ball: “I am beyond thrilled to be able to continue working with this amazing cast and crew. This is the most fun I have ever had.”
This is great news and I'm pretty happy with the direction that season 3 is going in. I think the show has gotten its legs back and is, hopefully, in for a strong season.
Love this show. Great way to spend a Sunday Night especially if you can bite them after!<a href="http://www.dlmentertainment.com/?c=166&cn=True+Blood" rel="nofollow"> <a href="http://;http://www.dlmentertainment.com/?c=166&cn=True+…” target=”_blank”>;http://www.dlmentertainment.com/?c=166&cn=True+…
