True Blood Season 4 Spoilers

True Blood's fourth season is a long ways away, but the spoilers are already starting to pour in compliments of EW/Soon to be indie Michael Ausiello.  Fans of Charlaine Harris's books probably already have a sense of what territory True Blood might venture into, since it will loosely interpret the material of Dead to the World, but they would also be the first to tell you that Alan Ball likes to stray - often wildly - from the literary basis for HBO's hit series.

So if you are a fan of Charlaine's True Blood series, it is your duty to tell us how far off these character descriptions are from what you've seen in Mrs. Harris's pages:

  • Marnie - A palm reader/huckster who apparently sucks are her job of convincing people she has a sixth sense, until she becomes possessed with the spirit of a powerful sorceress.
  • Portia - Andy has a sister?  According to Ausiello she is not only a looker, but a hell of an attorney of some sort.  Ausiello also reports that the casting call asks for potential candidates to do some nude scenes.
  • Naomi - Asian cage fighter.  Um...
  • Queen Mab - Beautiful leader of a fantasy locale, very likely the queen of the fairies.  Apparently she is also a bit of a hard ass, so maybe the fairies attempts to lure in their long lost sister, Sookie (Anna Paquin), are going to get a lot more aggressive.  Will Sookie be forced to choose between the world of the humans and the world of the Fairie?
  • Suzanne McKittric - A shape shifter who will apparently throw an impromptu party with the intent of meeting more of her kind.

Wow, note the complete lack of new Vamps or Wolf characters - looks like True Blood is going to continue to expand the boundaries of its mythology.  Not a bad thing at all.

I am a huge fan of the Sookie Stackhouse novels. I have read all the books (twice) and watched all TB episodes as well. I wish that Alan Ball would stick more closely to the books instead of interpreting them in a completely different way. The books are great and if he followed them it might guarantee longevity for the series on HBO. As far as the new characters posted, Portia Bellefleur, Andy's sister is an original character to the book. Thats the only name I recognize, correct me if I am wrong.

Maybe Marnie is Amelia? Naomi or Suzanne could be Hallow. Queen Maub could be the female version of Niall? It will be interesting to see!

Marnie Stonebrook was the name the witch Hallow used when she came into Merlotte's looking for Eric. I like the idea of Hallow possessing someone. Can't wait for the madness to ensue!!

I have read all of the Charlaine Harris Sookie Stackhouse novels and the only character in the books that you have listed is Portia. She is Sheriff Andys brother. She wasnt written as sexy in the books. She was actually written as a little on the conserative side. I have theories on the characters Namoi and Marnie. Marnie might be the messanger who is booby trapped with a spell to Eric Northman who rejected and pissed off a witch/werewolf. The Asian cagefighter I believe might be a relative of Quinn who is a weretiger. He was a love intrest of Sookies in the books.

now that I have read the other posts I now remember Hollow as Marnie.

the tv series are way better than the book. the books poorly written and of a 3rd grade retarded reading level. if they would have stuck to the books the series would have failed.

Alan Ball needs to stay a little closer to what happens in the books as far as sookie and eric relationship. otherwise they will lose alot of fans
