I can assure you all that when this TV year ends, and we all look back fondly on the shows that were the best, True Detective will rise to the top. The show was just exquisitely written, poignantly acted, and was just utterly enthralling to watch. For that reason, we have all been eagerly awaiting any news we can get about True Detective’s next season. Thing is, we have gotten so little info. Until now, that is. This may not answer all your questions, but it at least gives us a solid idea of the direction they are heading in the second season of this amazing neo-noir drama.
Nic Pizzolatto, who created the series, was on the To The Best Of Our Knowledge Podcast this past weekend, and let out some juicy tidbits:
“Right now, we’re working with three leads. It takes place in California. Not Los Angeles, but some of the lesser known venues of California and we’re going to try to capture a certain psychosphere ambience of the place, much like we did with season one. The characters are all new, but I am deeply in love with all of them. We have the entire season broken out, and I have a couple of scripts, and we’ll probably start casting within the coming month.”
So as much as everyone has been speculating on who the new stars will be, the haven’t even cast them yet. I think the most impressive bit of info from that is the fact that the show will have three leads. I am expecting a love triangle here, Nic. Outside of that, details are still really slim. But hey, at least we know another season of this stellar show is coming. That is enough to hold me over.
