True Detective is the best show on TV right now, hands down. The story is so expertly weaved, layers upon layers, that people walk away from the show knowing they have seen something timeless. Something exceptional. From the writing to the acting to the cinematography, it is just the idea of television, taken one step further. In case you haven’t been paying attention, the show has garnered quite a buzz and quite a following of fevered fans who are already speculating over a season two of True Detective. Well, guess what? The show’s creator may have inadvertently given away some major facts about it, and if you weren’t paying attention, you definitely missed them. Allow us to fill you in.
A fan had written to the show’s creator, Nick Pizzolatto, on Twitter and recommended that he put some female characters under the same microscopic lens as the male leads from this season. He responded to her in cryptic form, with a tweet that has since been deleted. His response read:
One of the detriments of only having two POV characters, both men (a structural necessity). Next season…
So basically, if you read between the lines here, he is saying the second season of True Detective WILL have two female leads (or at least one). If you take into account that he deleted if not long after, that almost pretty much confirms it. Can you even imagine what that will be like? The layers and nods to literature and politics between the two female partners? Wow, I am already drooling over the potential for the second season of True Detective, and the amazing first season is not even over yet. That says it all.
Thanks to Uproxx for the story.
