HBO’s True Detective has been a pretty excellent show so far. It’s a gritty noir drama with a great deal of style and a stellar cast. The thing about HBO shows is that you never quite know how long they are going to last. Well, good news for fans of this great show. True Detective gets a season two after some fancy dealings the show’s creator pulled off with HBO. But wait, there are some changes coming.
Hollywood Deadline ran the story about how True Detective has been renewed for season two, but there is some fine print. Do not expect the show to go on with the stars it has now. Creator Nick Pizzolato says that when they do go forward, there will be two other detectives pushing the narrative. Not Mathew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson. The show is amazing, but that has a big part to do with the cast of the show. It is great True Detective is getting a second season, but if it lacks the star power of season one, will as many people tune in to watch it? Will it be able to sustain its current momentum?
These are questions we wont be able to answer until we know just who is on board. For now, we are pretty happy True Detective has a second season. It has definitely been one of the best shows of 2014 so far.
