2011 Critics' Choice Television Awards Nominations

In its very first edition, The Critics' Choice Television Awards have already set themselves apart from the traditional Award shows. While the Emmys and Golden Globes usually leave out cult favorites, much to the outrage of fans around the world that want to see their favorite shows recognized, The CCTA nominated shows like Fringe, Community and Parks and Recreation,  all usually ignored by the traditional awards.

Modern Family leads the comedy category with six nominations whille Mad Men scored five noms. 30 Rock and Boardwalk Empire follow closely with four nods each.

As a TV fan, I am just glad that Fringe - one of the best television shows today in my humble opinion - finally got its way overdue recognition. The cult show scored three nominations: Best Drama; John Noble received a nod for Best Supporting Actor in a Drama Series and Anna Torv, who was absolutely brilliant in season 3, got a nom for Best Actress in a Drama Series.

Why in the world would you cancel such an outstanding show???

  17. Vicki West says:

Sorry, I was talking about Friday Night Lights in the above comment

  18. SYoung says:

Friday Night Lights is the best program ever! And I agree Vicki West. I can never understand why it is cancelled but I am thankful for every minute I got to enjoy.

  19. Pat says:

Hooray for Friday Night Lights!! Go Kyle and Conne!  A show very deserving of every nomination.  The writing and acting on this show is outstanding.  So sad it is coming to an end.  Network Television has very few shows of this caliber.

  20. Kirk says:

Friday Night Lights is by far the best drama on television – this last season was pure gold. It’s about time it gets some critical recognition, especially for Kyle Chandler and Connie Britton.

    • Susan says:

We also love the last season, even with the cast changes.  Best moment last week with Julie and the surprise door she arrived at!

    Best Drama: Good Wife

    Best Comedy: 30 Rock

Best Actor in Comedy: Jim Parson

Best Actress in Comedy: Tina Fey/ Courteney Cox

Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy: Eric Stonestreet

Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy: Sofia Vergara/ Jane Krakowski

P.S I think it's ridiculous that the 'Modern Family' cast are ALL in the supporting actors section… they are all definitely lead performances… they've done this purely so they have a better chance of winning.
