Tina Fey covers the April issue of InStyle magazine and once again gives an interview that is both amusing, but also touches on some particularly important matters that she has raised in her recent essay in The New Yorker; 'Confessions of a Juggler'. This essay dealt with the problems that come with being a working mother and this interview in InStyle discusses the negative reaction that can come with openly admitting this issue as a women, particularly one who is famous and successful. Tina Fey relates to something Gwyneth Paltrow said on the matter and how comments on blogs can be unnecessarily harsh in their response:
"Any time you talk about being a working mother and you complain about it in any way, people eat your face. I remember reading some interview where Gwyneth Paltrow said something like, 'I missed my kids on the set one day and I was crying.' And I thought, Yeah, I've totally done that. But on the Web site where I read it there were these furious comments. 'But you're a movie star!' Yes, it's much worse for a mom serving in Afghanistan. Of course. But there's just no forgiveness."
This isn't the first time that Tina Fey has responded to people that post on internet forums, after all she was the person who used her Golden Globes speech to tell some forum posters on The Envelope's forum to 'suck it' after their negative remarks about her. This dialogue between audience and the creative forces or celebrities is always contentious and I find Tina Fey's reactions to all of this to be refreshing and honest. This adds another reason as to why I and so many others like her, but also as to why there are these detractors.
Other than being on the cover of InStyle that hits newsstands Friday and having just recorded the 100th episode of 30 Rock, Tina Fey will also be promoting her forthcoming and much anticipated book Bossypants this month alongside fellow comedian and 30 Rock guest star Steve Martin. The book features the 'Confessions of a Juggler' essay that was in The New Yorker and will hopefully reveal the secrets to Tina Fey's success or at the very least be very funny. I have high hopes and will definitely be picking up a copy when it is released on April 5th, along with this issue of InStyle where Fey looks amazing in the above photograph that will be featured in the magazine.
