Adam Sandler's Hanukah Song has become a classic over the years, especially during the holiday season. It seemed like a good time to dust off some old video of Sandler performing the very first version of what is actually called "The Chanukah Song" on his album.
Sandler first performed the song on Saturday Night Live and it appeared on his 1996 comedy album What The Hell Happened to Me. Since then Sandler has released two other, updated versions of the song. There are a lot of celebrities, both real and fictional, mentioned in the song as Jewish, and the song's theme's center around Jewish children feeling alienated during the Christmas season. In fact, Sandler typically introduces the song with the following comments,
"Ok ok this is a song that uh, theres a lot of Christmas songs out there
and uh not to many Hanukah songs so uh i wrote a song for all those
nice little Jewish kids who don't get to hear any Hanukah songs."
