If you're surprised that ABC is still giving out pilot orders this late in the pilot season, you're not the only one. ABC just announced a pilot order for a new multi-camera comedy called Southern Discomfort which will follow a father whose grown kids move back into his house, turning his life upside down in the process. Casting is just beginning and the project will be executive produced by Cheers veteran Rob Long, as well as Eric Tannenbaum and Kim Tannenbaum.

The reason for the late pilot order is due to the recent decision to shelve another pilot Women are Crazy, Men are Stupid. That pilot had received an early pickup in December and centers on a new couple who have both experienced failed marriages but are determined to make it work this time around. But it seems that the series wasn't able to find appropriate casting in time and has now been shelved, for a possible resurrection in the future, and leaving ABC with a hole to file by none other than Southern Discomfort.
