You know who is the absolute man right now? Benedict Cumberbatch. From Sherlock to Star Trek to The Hobbit, he is just up to his eyes in fame right now, and for good reason. He is a great actor and seems to be an overall good guy, too. Well, if you like him now, wait until you see Benedict Cumberbatch on Sesame Street. The last time something like this happened, it was Peter Dinklage, and I walked away feeling the same way. I somehow liked him even MORE afterward. I know, I didn’t think that was possible either.
So not only is this Benedict Cumberbatch on Sesame Street, but they actually play off of the Moriarty versus Sherlock theme in this as well. Only this time, Moriarty is actually Murrayarty. Okay, that may sound crazy, but it will make more sense after you watch it. You will also be in a far better mood. That is what Sesame Street does to anyone. That is why it is magical. Also, it has The Count in it. If you don’t like The Count, we can’t be friends.
So rather than talk about how awesome that is, I figured I would just take a moment to explore why those kinds of things always make us smile. A great many of us grew up on Sesame Street. I think it just strikes a real nostalgic chord in us when we see someone we really enjoy from TV or movies currently, interacting with the Muppets we all grew up on and love so much. It is like our future selves hanging out with the kid version of ourselves for a moment. It just feels right. Like, for one small moment, all is well with the world.
