0000061182_20090915124105Sniff, sniff, sniff…

Another show has bitten the dust for the 2009-2010 TV season.

According to HitFix.com, "Eastwick" has been canceled effective immediately. ABC opted not to pick up the back nine for the show, which has been finishing last in its Wednesday night time slot, something that I didn't know anything about. According to TV by the Numbers, despite "Eastwick" being called the "least watched show on ABC" or "a ratings failure", it still beat NBC's "The Jay Leno Show" for a consecutive three weeks as of last week by a 23% margin. That should've been something to look at before canceling it right, ABC?

But alas, it wasn't. On the other front, ABC picked up five more scripts for the Jerry Bruckheimer drama, The forgotten, which I had forgot was even still on TV. ABC still plans on airing all 13 episodes of Eastwick before pulling the plug, but by them pulling this weeks ep (for the CMA's) and next week's ep (for a Janet Jackson interview) from the schedule, we will be lucky to see that day happen.

So Eastwick fans, what do you think? Are you about to bawl like a baby like me? Or send a hex to ABC? Please just do the former…

  1. I read this this morning, and just couldn't believe it. They decided to keep a pathetic show like "The Forgotten", or a ratings deficient show like Leno over a show that had content, drew viewers in (at least kind of), and was actually somewhat well done?

I saw this one coming, can't deny it, but it still sucks. I enjoyed the show. We'll have to see what they do with it, but it's definitely sad. Out of all the new garbage this year, this show was one of the few I enjoyed.

I started watching Eastwick and I was thrilled with the possibility at seeing a show that wasn't like the rest, but 3 episodes in was all it took for me to see it was the same show with a different face. That's when I found Defying Gravity. A show that brought back the saga of space and the unknown, while still keeping the human element so you could identify with it. If they should be bringing back anything it should be Defying Gravity!

ATTENTION ABC, SyFy, or any TV people: Please save DEFYING GRAVITY. It is a great show! Please put DEFYING GRAVITY in Eastwick's old slot! I love that show (Defying Gravity) and I do not think it got a fair shot during the summer! At the very least, ABC should show us the remaining episodes…but I hope instead they pick it up for another season! It's smart and cool and really good sci-fi. Thanks!

I'm not asd at all. This means there is a spot for my favorite show Defying Gravity. Please bring back Defying Gravity. I love that show, and it was dropped.

  5. Morg says:

I agree ABC should air the remaining Defying Gravity episodes in the
open time slot, an awesome show the network do a poor job advertising
and marketing. Not only are the remaining episodes already in the can,
James Parriott has already written three seasons worth of material to be
developed. The show may have had a slow start but there has been
significant growth over the web due to the great character development
    which pays off.

  6. marnie says:

Please give Defying Gravity a fair chance. It is such a great show. I would trade all shows on tv for this ONE SHOW!!!!

  7. cathy says:

ABC should put Defying Gravity in that time slot. Its a great show and needs to be advertised.

  8. Slavko says:

What the frack is wrong with ABC?
They really have to make their minds up before they program a show, and also promote them in a proper way instead of cancelling one every second week!
The best example of that is for sure "Defying Gravity" :
It was promoted way too late, was given the worst time slot, was reviewed by people who only saw 2 episodes of it and used to describe it as "grey's anatomy in space" (what a joke!!!), it was finally cancelled before we even got a chance to watch the end of season1!
Anyways, i think this time slot is fairly dued to Defying Gravity!

I AM UPSET!! I really Liked this Show. In a House full of Football Everyday but Tuesday and Wednesday, this Show was my new Favorite. ABC You Are making a Mistake.

  10. dXm says:

I hadn't even heard of Defying Gravity until it was 2-3 episodes in, and too late to pick up by that time. Loved everything I read about it… bad marketing by ABC.

  11. VadenHaze says:

Very Disappointed in this decision….Well lets see if *possibly* LifeTime (according to Wikipedia) picks up Eastwick for 2nd Season.
