Captain Phillips’ star Barkhad Abdi Revealed how he Learned English

Who knew you could learn English by watching a show about nothing?! Captain Phillips star and newcomer Barkhad Abdi admitted to Ryan Seacrest that he learned how to speak English by watching the comedy Seinfeld. Abdi moved to America from Somalia in 1999 and would also listen to albums by Jay Z to master the English language. “When you listen to a lot of music, you understand,” he mentioned to the E! host. Abdi is nominated in the Best Supporting Actor category tonight and will competing against Bradley Cooper, Michael Fassbender, and Jared Leto.
