See, I told you. No one ever listens to the dude with the weird hair and the funny name, but I was right. Netflix is set to take over, whether TV likes it or not. Remember how Chelsea Handler was quitting her show, and we were all wondering to what gig she would jump next? Seems Netflix snatched her up to host the first Netflix talk show. I say give it two years before Netflix has just as much original programming as most networks, only way better.
In a statement made for the press by Netflix chief content officer, Todd Sarandos, he makes it clear that Netflix knows what they are doing and that this is just the beginning:
“the Internet has disrupted many of the conventions of traditional television and together with Chelsea Handler, Netflix is looking forward to re-imagining the late night talk show for the on-demand generation, starting with the late night part…”
Very interesting. So how will the show air? How can you call it late-night TV when it is on-demand and we can watch it whenever we want? What is genius about this is that it begs more questions than answers. What that means is we will all tune in to see just how things he is talking about plays out, and how true they become.
Congrats to Chelsea Handler for landing late night talk show gig on Netflix. The giant just keeps getting bigger and bigger. No, not Handler. I am talking about Netflix, yo.
